Gu Ruochu kept her composure and did not pull her hand away from Huo Nanchen's grip. "The doctor already checked up on me and told me to take my medicine on time. I'm fine."
"I'll accompany you to the doctor to rest assured. My wife should be pampered."
As Huo Nanchen held her hand, and he noticed the new watch on her wrist. He furrowed his brows. "Why are you suddenly wearing a watch?"
"I've never worn a watch before, so I decided to try one out," Gu Ruochu replied and kept a straight face.
She did not say where she had gotten the watch, so Huo Nanchen did not enquire any further.
After dinner, Gu Ruochu went upstairs.
She casually changed into a new set of clothes. After some time, Huo Nanchen, entered the room. Gu Ruochu turned around and met his gaze.
"I thought you didn't want to talk to me anymore." Huo Nanchen's gaze subconsciously fell on her wrist. Her watch was very eye-catching.
"Why did you think that?"
"I stayed at a hotel last night. I called you, but you didn't pick up."
"Oh, I see."
Gu Ruochu was relieved that he had not spent the night at Ning Tangxi's place. Her was at peace, and she did not feel uncomfortable anymore.
She grabbed her bag and headed for the door.
"Let's go to the hospital." Huo Nanchen walked over and held her in his arms. "I'll get Lu Fang to nurse you back to health. You'll be fine soon."
"No need, I've already seen a doctor. Wang Gang is waiting for me at the movie set. You shouldn't be too concerned about me."
Although her voice was still hoarse, Gu Ruochu did not want to go to the hospital. She wasn't in the mood to see his friend either.
Huo Nanchen silently accompanied her downstairs.
"Let's go to the hospital."
"I'm not going. Wang Gang is waiting for me." Gu Ruochu's anger was rising. Huo Nanchen was too stubborn.
"You must go!"
Huo Nanchen's commanding words provoked Gu Ruochu. She stared at the side of his face, which was as delicate as jade, and her anger spread through her chest.
He always wanted to have his way. Was it love, or a gentler form of torture?
When they got into the car, Gu Ruochu's expression turned cold. She stared at Huo Nanchen as if she wanted to freeze him to death. She enunciated each word clearly as she asked, "Huo Nanchen, are you annoyed?"
'Am I annoyed?'
Gu Ruochu was not joking. She had not even tried to hide the fact that she was furious. Her words struck a nerve, and Huo Nanchen could no longer control himself.
Did she dislike him that much?
Why was she always so distant when he tried to do the right thing?
A hint of anger flashed across his dark eyes, and the lines on the side of his face tightened. "You're saying that I'm annoyed? You refuse to answer my calls even when you're sick, and you're saying that I'm annoyed?"
"Yes, I think that you're really annoyed."
When he mentioned what had happened the previous night, Gu Ruochu thought of how he had stayed at Ning Tangxi's house for Cheng Xi's birthday party.
They had almost slept together, hadn't they?
Gu Ruochu was disgusted when the thought crossed her mind.
Before she could regain her senses, her palm had already landed on his face. The slap made a loud sound in the car. Gu Ruochu was stunned, and Huo Nanchen grabbed her hand.
"What are you doing? Did you just hit me!"
Huo Nanchen was furious. His dark eyes were cold and heavy. Ever since he was born, his mother had never touched even one of his fingernails, but this woman had the nerve to hit him!
"Let go of me."
Gu Ruochu gritted her teeth. When she thought about how he had abandoned her, her throat choked up. It was as if all of the pain had surged through her heart, and she struggled to free her hand.
"Are you crying?"
Gu Ruochu could not control her temper. She tried to get out of the car, but he grabbed her wrist. "You're not allowed to get out of the car. Even if you want to throw a tantrum, you can't go against your own body."
