Chapter 4 - 04.Shopoholic?

Looking at her standing there and looking at the almost empty street, he could only sigh. The children's institute was just a refined name for the orphanage. The children that lost their patents or all family members and no other places go. The government did provide for them, but only so much that the children barely were surviving.

But now they are considering to pull the plug and not support the places like his, making literally children go and die. He knew that the only way for them to survive was to go to the new world.

She was right, does it really matter where it is and how weird it is? In the last five days, they used to speed up a program that government provided them with, to learn faster. He chose to teach all his children all the ways of surviving that he could find in all acts. Hunting, fishing, searching for food, making clothes, making houses, gardening and many more.

Fortunately, the children were quite unified as they were all in the same position. So when he told them what they are learning and why they all were happy to accept the vicious training.

In just five days every single child learned basic stuff. Some choose to learn more. He sighed. Even he was doing his best to learn as much he could.

Sandra was in her thoughts when suddenly a long line of people started arriving. "What is this?"

As it seems on end her information was leaked somehow and more people came to run to another world. But she was not angry.

She had a strange feeling that she should just accept it.

This world she saw was strangely familiar and had nothing to do with that new world they made on Mars. If her assumption is right, then this new world is actually pure of any human existence.

So more humans, better. Well, even if it's connected to the government, she didn't care. More humans saved is better, right?

He saw her face smiling as she saw more people coming. "Are you not anxious about too many people on one spot?"

He could hear her chuckle. " Who said we all will live on the same spot?"

Her wish was to go and find their own place. She was someone that had practically traveled this country up and down, every day.

In her head, she could find perfect spots even without looking at maps.

Her breath suddenly stopped when she saw people that deserved the most chances. The first nations, or that what is left of them. As the country got devastated they turned even the ground they lived into waste material grounds and killed many of their kind.

So after she spoke to her mother and the net supporters, she called the two places where the last ones lived and told them about it. Luckily they choose to come.

An elder came to her and just patted her shoulder. "Thank you.''

That was enough for her so she did the same. " I can do only this much. When you go inside take the gears off and I will bring it to the store. Do you want the food like everyone else or something you need?"

He shook his head. "The government actually was quite generous to us. We bought all we need. We will gift the gears to you and the rest of our free points. Do whatever you want with that." That is something they will not need anymore anyway.

She was not someone who would be shy in accepting free stuff. She survived so long from everyone's support. So she just nodded.

As the people passed by, she calculated what else she could do with all these points.

She remembered the place and the light carriage she saw. It was one of those from ancient times that was used for pulling smaller things. It was so light that she could use it easily. But the price was too much. Maybe now she could afford it?

She definitely will accept it. With happy expression, she followed them inside the portal and was quite stunned by the sight.

Everyone walked around in their underwear.

But she shrugged. Probably she'll do the same.

She looked at the pile of protection gears and sighed. "This is going to be heavy."

"There is still us. Boys are back with food. We will help you. Come let's start."

As the boys brought in the food, they took out as much as they could. She gathered as many gears and went out where the first nation elder stood and waited for her.

He would in passing take over the free points from each person and collect it. When the last people entered the pathway he was last one waiting for her to come out.

"I will transfer the points. Please open the direct line." He turned his automated point scanner towards her and she calmly accepted it. She didn't look at numbers so he just smiled and left.

When the boys took last gears out she rushed to the vehicles and started it. They just followed her. She went straight away to the store where she found the carriage.

After exchanging it with most of gears she saw two more things. Books, so many of them, and bows. Many of them. With all the arrows. In the corner, she even found two crossbows made of the alloy that is famously unbreakable.

Her breath quickened. She was about to give up as she didn't have enough gears when she remembered the points.

But when she saw the point number, she almost fainted. Years of free air points. How devious is this?

Her face instead of confusion turned bright.

"Sir, give me ALL the bows and arrows, the two crossbows and all the books. How much paper material do you have?

He showed her stacks of copy machine papers and she was happy beyond imagination. These are good things. Since there were no more trees humans stopped copying and used personal computers for everything.

So this kind of paper lost its usefulness but she had an idea what she needed it for. She bought all the paper, pens, coloring materials and then she looked at the filled cars and her points and sighed.

" If there are more things you want to buy just do it. We will bring these things back to the base camp. In the time between just buy all the things you need. I can see it on your face that you have ideas." She just nodded and they rushed to the gate while she smiled brightly at the man.

"I am sure you have more of the same ones in your storage. Today is your lucky day. Let me search for the items I need."

Of course, he would happily accept it. He took her to the huge storage and there she found things they could use. All kinds of gardening materials, seeds, more books, more bows and arrows, knives, then she found fishing gear and a huge number of camping bags. Sleeping bag, tents, and all the basic things included. She bought them all making him flabbergasted. Then she found the indestructible materials for clothes. She will keep it for herself and her own family.

Swimming gear. Breathing gear. Inflatable boats. Even a couple canoes that could be put together from alloy. With all she needed. She smiled and let him take out the bag by bag.

She stared at decreasing points and smiled happily. There are many more things she wanted but was unable to take. Too large.

After buying all these things she saw a bunch of backpacks and remembered all these children. They could use it to wear their stuff easier. And then she saw the rain gear she was looking for.

It was made from a material that could protect the body from losing the heat and in same time stop enter water and coldness.

Full body protection gear that was as thin as a second skin. This kind if thing is good trough rain season and winter time.

She bought all of it. Actually it was so easy and light that hundreds were stuffed inside one backpack.

What else? She saw old-style medicine set, whole set for operations, teeth reparation, and more.

She bought it all. They all learned from small on basic medical knowledge but for her it was different. Her initial brain was quite good. So she used the program to stuff all the knowledge that she could use one day.

It is actually quite a painful procedure. But she did that to survive. No other reason.

But she had no plan to become a doctor. And axept her own family members no one else knew her secret so she was fine.

She didn't see anything else that could be used and left the storage.

"After I pay you all this, could you send workers to the gate and help me transfer the stuff. Those three men are not robots you know." She was aware of the number of things she bought.

"No problem. We will do so." The shop owner rubbed his hands. After this deal, he can sleep easier.

She saw the three people resting a bit while they looked at the mountain of things. "Don't worry. The shop owner told me they will bring it to the gate. The two of you go and follow them. I am going to buy more food for the rest of the points and will come as well. "

She still had a bunch of points, but as new arrivals came it was never too much of food. She sat at her vehicle and was stunned by the sight in front of her eyes.
