''The gate is open to the place named Mars. The time for transfer 32 hours and counting.''
Two weeks after their arrival new gate opened and this voice resounded right by the big wall.
The kids knew where other settlers were so they were sent to give them notice. Soon they came back with a long line of settlers that looked at the gate.
Sandra just nodded and smiled at them. ''Everyone who wants to go can leave now. We plan to stay here. I do not know what is on another side. Anyone wanna go and see?''
One of the men choose to go forward but a strange thing happened. He couldn't pass the gate. He turned his stunned face towards her and pointed at the gate. ''What now?''
Sandra had no idea what is going on. There was slight doubt about the possibility, but she was not completely sure. She looked at everyone and carefully approached the gate. Her hand slowly approached the space and it turned suddenly seethrough. ''Uh?'' escaped her lips.
They could see a few people peeking from the other side and smiling at them.
''Ugh, can you hear me?'' She was not sure is the gate completely open or not.
''The gate open for just gatekeeper. You can help with transactions between the world. You can take five people with you if it's your wish each time. The gate will close in 32 hours and will open again in three months in the same place. In case of someone harming the Gatekeeper the gate will close until Gatekeeper chose to reopen it again. The time will start now. Gatekeeper please enter the gate.'' The voice stopped making Sandra's speechless.
The hand she held inside the gate was pulled and she suddenly was in the middle of something like a tunnel. ''Welcome Gatekeeper. You will be able to open the gates to different worlds. For now, you will be in your own basis world that we created in the past world you were before its destruction. Now you can make transactions between worlds.'' The voice stopped and she came back with a pale face.
''I have no idea what is going on, but I can transfer always only five people each time. The time is 32 now, no... less than 31 hours. Anyone want to live on Mars and not here? If you leave I will block you not to come back. I can give you just this one chance to live in this world.''
She was now sure that the world is Earth in a parallel universe. But if these people choose to go there and then come back to make trouble, she definitely won't let happen.
Most people just turned around as they liked the place and choose to stay in this world. But there were few families that choose to go to the new world.
And a man with heavy expression stopped in front of her. ''I am grateful that you let us go with you. Actually, all of us that choose to go to Mars have already family members there, so we came with you as we didn't have to wait anymore. Even if we can't come back in three months you can open the gate and we can make a trade. I think that is possible. Right?''
She nodded. So they made multiple groups and went in front of the gate. She touched the gate and they just appeared on the other side. No tunnel no noting. It was strange.
''Hello. Welcome to the New World. May we know what is the place you came from?'' The curious young woman started trough a glass clear view trough the gate.
Sandra just smiled and turned around. ''This world... We call it Osei. We will have a trade dealings every three months. For now, I will bring you humans from Earth to this place. Please notice their families.''
With a wave of the hand, she entered the gate and was again in a long tunnel. It seems she is there when she wants to be alone.
She walked to the other side and again took a group of people instantly. Group after group of people with their belongings entered the gate and with the last group, she was about to leave when she heard someone yelling.
''Stop right there. Do not dare to move or we will shoot.'' She turned and saw the whole squadron of soldiers pointing the guns at her. She calmly stood by the gate. It was enough just the tiny move and she would be in safety so she was quite calm.
With slight smile on her face, she just waited as tall man approached her in a hurry. But when he was about to enter the gate it rebounded and he flew a few meters away. By rebound, it seems he hurt something and he started puking blood making everyone scared.
Sandra shook her head. ''Every gate has its own rules. This gate has a rule never to bring any automatic weapons or any technologies with. You do not listen at all.''
Soldiers cam running to pick a half-unconscious man that mumbled. ''Damn woman...''
Sandra rolled her eyes. "Do you think I will let you enter? Now go and report to your higher ups. The gate will be open again in three months."
She disapeared in front of his eyes and saw the people staring at him in wonder. "What are you looking at? Go away!"
He completely forgot about the newcomers and went to report, but he was in wonder as he saw general Lim staring at him with pale face. "General?"
"You attacked the Portal caretaker? Are you crazy? Do you know they hold grudges?" He quickly called others and left his office in hurry, leaving the man stunned.
Portal Caretaker? What is that?
