Chereads / Penny: Who Are You? / Chapter 6 - Albert?

Chapter 6 - Albert?

"Nice to meet you, I'm David Leo Daniels."

Dev, Ann and Damian paused for a while in shock before Dev finally burst out laughing.

"Hahaha!...Were you shut in here for too long? It seems like you're starting to get delusional..hahaha!", Dev laughed while cleaning tears from his eyes.

Hearing his laughter, Jeremy stood up from the ground, dusted his pants and walked towards Davis with his hands behind his back trying his best to project himself as a wise elderly man. "The truth is there and also right before your eyes whether you want to believe it or not.", Jeremy said leisurely.

"Just cause they're identical doesn't mean you can use that to try to deceive me! My intel overheard Father saying the rightful heir has a birthmark on..."

Dev tried to continue but was interrupted by Davis, "...the back of my right foot", who had already removed his shoes to reveal the birthmark.

Following Davis's revelation, the 'prison' became so silent that you could hear a pin drop. Ann looked rather convinced but Dev and Damian still had a 'i-don't-want-to-believe-it-but-my-heart-says-it's-true' kind of look, so they tried to see if Davis and Jeremy were lying by looking into their eyes.

After a few seconds of silence and staring competition, Dev broke the ice and chuckled,"I see you've been wary of me all along Davis."

To which Davis responded with a smirk. He was 18 that year, when he met Dev and he actually trusted him before and even took him as a brother because they were age mates and he felt that the family feud between the Leo Daniels and the Marsons could end through their close relationship.

So he gave Dev access to everything that he and his twin brother had, but it seemed Dev perceived him to be the useless twin that became useful to him. Useless because he thought he wasn't the heir and useful because he brought him into the Leo Daniels family.

They were friends for 10 years and were so close that he almost made the greatest mistake of his life by sharing the secret of his status with him. However on the day he decided to share his secret with Dev, he overheard him telling his father, William Marson about how much he hated him for always snatching his so-called 'possessions'.

Since that day, he began to be wary of Dev and that was how he was able to see just how obsessed Dev was in taking what was his and as the years went by, it got to the point that he even tried to woo his fiancé, Princess.

It seemed like not having Princess for himself broke the final straw for Dev as he began to confront and attack him everytime they met.

In order to further protect himself, his father suggested that he should leave the Cube and relocate to a small town on the outskirts of the mainland and create a second Cube but without the mutants.

But that wasn't the only reason why his father sent him to Azalea. He also had to protect four kids that were almost subjected to another wave of mutation experiments in the Cube.

It's been 15 years now and it seems Dev...sorry Albert, yes, he changed his name to Dev when he was still at the Cube, Davis didn't understand it then but now he realised that Dev is obsessed enough to even want to have similar names....well, it seems 'Albert' still hasn't gotten over trying to obtain what he already has.

But how Dev found out about Azalea is what surprises him the most cause only his father and Jeremy knew about it, he didn't even mention it to Princess cause he knew she wouldn't let him go.

As Davis wondered about who could have told 'Albert' Dev Marson about his plan to move to Azalea and his 'intel', he looked up and laid his gaze on Damian, "You might have changed a bit but I still recognize you....aren't you the little boy Father* brought in that year cause you were weaker than the other kids?"

Damian immediately became visibly flustered as he fidgeted and placed his eyes everywhere but on Davis while Dev had a smile on his face that showed he was rather pleased with himself. Looking at their reactions, even Jeremy knew that Damian was the 'intel' and it seemed his job back then was to spy on Father*. To think they let him stay at their quarters all these years, it's a relief that he only found out a bit and not the truth in full detail.

"Yes....yes he is and so what? Don't play the victim here! Do you want to tell me that Father didn't also place spies in my father's quarters?!", Dev said.

Davis smiled, Jeremy faked a cough while Ann and Damian had eye contact. It was obvious that they had the same thought, 'We/They don't need to play the victim cause we/they are!'

One thing that Davis and Jeremy knew about Dev was his hotheadedness and rash behaviour. He could easily be led by the nose if you used a few tricks cause he is all brawn and no brains, this could be deduced from his lame comebacks, so Jeremy decided to put that to test.
