S6 was feeling terrible at the moment, his head ached from too much use of his Clairomancy, he just had his jewels practically squashed against a tree after being blown away by....he didn't even know what blew him away! And now he had to fight someone he dreaded all his life.
'Sh¡t!' he thought as he looked at the man who was supposed to still be locked up standing in front of him.
Davis Leo Daniels.
He and S8 were still just little boys when they used to see Davis and Dev sparring in their training centre back at The Cube. There little doe eyes shining in adoration whenever Davis won...which was all the time.
Before his betrayal, they had all looked up to him back then, so much so that he would train everyday just to be like him. He still clearly remembered how his every punch landed on his opponent, perfectly delivering a fatal blow.
How his shirt rustled in the non-existent wind whenever he wanted to land his signature roundabout kick.
How he usually disappears from their line of sight using his speed ability when he's about to sneak an attack.
The way his feet moved on the ground when he was advancing to attack or retreating to defend. They were all calculated. Not one could put him at a disadvantage.
That was how good he was and their reason for using Vonna into tricking him into the basement and locking him up there before they raided Platinum Valleys.
They already had enough on their plate fighting with Thomas and the keepers, so including Davis into the equation was like writing a letter to death itself. Cause even if they got to overpower them with their numbers they wouldn't achieve their sole purpose.
Most of their men would undoubtedly be disabled or possibly dead and the children they wanted to lay their hands on would probably be on their merry way to a safer place by the time they had concluded the fight.
Thus, gaining nothing but more problems for themselves.
Although they had used underhanded means to gain an upperhand which was against their code in The Cube, S6 didn't mind cause he couldn't and didn't want to fight against them.
Why?
The reason was standing right in front of him!
"Oi Simon! That's not any way to greet your senior now, is it?," Davis said as he straightened his sleeves while looking at the fuming S8.
"Heh, senior? You are not qualified to be called my senior!", S8 though slightly surprised that he remembered him, he hid his emotions and yelled as he sneered at Davis.
He and S7 finally had S6 off the tree and had just placed him on a rock right below it when they heard a loud voice yelling for someone or some people.
At first they thought it was one of their captives that escaped from the hands of Hunter and were just about to capture them again and report back to him when Davis suddenly appeared from behind the rows of trees and leaves. They were obviously shocked to the core to see him out here in the forest when he was still supposed to be imprisoned.
However, though they were all in shock, anger quickly overcame the shock he left on them for S8, so before S6 & 7 knew what was going on, he had already gathered about 80% of his strength in his right palm and launched a rock shattering strike on Davis. But he was countered by Davis who used his palm to block the attack, that was what caused that loud sound.
But looking at the indifferent Davis who was leisurely adjusting his sleeves like he wasn't the one S8 almost killed right now made them especially gulp in fear. Except for S8 who was still blinded by rage.
Someone who trained himself to be harder than a rock and receive a powerful punch from S8 without blinking an eye was a monster! Why would he want to go anywhere near him?!" S6 thought with his eyes wide open.
He could already feel his heart throbbing in his chest and coupled with the pain emanating from down there, he couldn't even describe how he was feeling right now.
But one question popped in his mind, 'How did he get out?'
From the information they gathered, Davis and Jeremy were already led into the basement and locked up securely with a MIS - mutant immune system, few minutes before the raid started so seeing him here right now meant one of two things;
1. Davis tricked his way out and ran to save himself...or the one he didn't even dare to think about...
2. Davis and Jeremy hatched a plan to turn the tides in their favour meaning their raid had failed.
And thinking about it now, he hadn't received a call or an order from Dev or any of his other colleagues since they left the lab which was weird.
As S6 had these thoughts, his eyes suddenly widened in shock as he remembered the alarm that went off before they went after the brats. He thought nothing of it so he left the situation in the hands of S3 but now he realised that all of that could have been Davis and Jeremy's doing.
They sent the brats out and turned on the alarm to distract them and lure them out into the forest inorder to escape easily.
This was something both of them could do especially if Davis had a computer guru like Jeremy with him. Thinking about Jeremy, S6 shuddered as he snapped his head left and right to see if he was also there. He didn't even want to be in the same space with that maniac!
However what S6 didn't know was that Davis and Jeremy had no idea whatsoever in the kids' escape. They were still searching for them right now.
S6 was still in an inner turmoil when he heard Davis speak, " Well then I shall have the pleasure of initiating the pleasantries...Long time no see Simon, I see you and little Sullivan have grown well," Davis smiled as he adjusted his sleeves and dropped his hands to his sides.
He couldn't deny his surprise meeting them here, he last saw them when they were just little boys learning how to walk. He clearly remembered how S6 & 8 would stand and cheer for him whenever he sparred with anyone.
They would surround him after each duel and ask him to teach them some moves saying they wanted to be like him. The adoration and admiration they had in their eyes were still vivid in his mind till today.
But right now those same pairs of eyes were staring at him with disgust, like he was a criminal who had committed something unforgivable. As for the third one, he didn't recognise him but he could see the guardedness in his eyes.
"It's S8 to you traitor!" S8 sneered as he looked Davis up and down with unhidden disgust in his eyes. He too, just like S6 worshipped Davis when they were much younger thinking he was the best mutant in the whole of CI(1) but that revered image was sent crashing down when Dev told them about all his atrocities with evidence to back it up.
To think he'd run away to a foreign land and groom his own mutants to forcefully take control over CI just because his father didn't make him the rightful heir.
That was the lowest of the low!
"What? Traitor? What do you mean?" Davis asked somewhat perplexed. One could see the confusion flicking through his blue eyes that gazed at them.
If S8 was mad before, now he was boiling in anger. What kind of question was he asking him?!
"Now you want to pretend to be ignorant and innocent?" S8 started to say as he approached Davis menacingly.
"Well then be ignorant till the end!" S8 continued as he gathered 90% of his strength into his right palm and lunged at Davis aiming for the left side of his chest where his heart lay. He was really going all out to put an end to the coward of a man standing right before him.
Meanwhile S6's breath hitched in his throat as he quickly voiced out ignoring the pain he felt in different parts of his body, "Simon are you nuts?! Get back!"
What was he thinking?! Didn't he learn enough from just watching Mr Davis when they were little?! Okay even if he didn't, what about the previous blow he sent to Mr Davis that didn't even roughen up his shirt? No matter how blinded by rage he was, did it also cloud his other senses?! S6 thought as he glanced at Davis who didn't bother to lift a finger in defense against the incoming S8.
But it was as if S8 didn't hear S6's warning, no it was more like he didn't want to. How could he stop now when he was just a hair's breadth away from having his hands on this traitor?! he thought just as his right palm was about to hit Davis's chest when suddenly Davis vanished from his spot.
This caused the momentum that S8 gained while running towards Davis to push him heavily towards to a palm tree nearby, crushing it in the process.
