Chapter 3 - Venturis City

After a long walk through the alleys, Shandy finally arrived upon a brand new world.

Countless people bustling across the roads flooded his sight, and a few unique cases were to be found among them.

Short and strong muscled dwarves walked along drunkenly, for alcohol was one of the few loves of their lives. While a few elves would be seen here and there, their appearance being no different from ordinary humans, with the only differentiating factor being their long, pointy ears.

Carts pulled by horse like beasts, yet, much bigger and with muddish brown fur traversed the centers of the roads, people splitting like tides to make way for the vehicles, and guards would patrol the streets, trying to spot those ever-present pick-pockets.

Having no clue as to where to go, he decided to follow the crowd. After a decently long time walking, he ended up in a large plaza, with countless shops and stalls there to everyone's avail. And in the center, stood a moderately large statue of a old, hunch backed man with a book in his hand, with the pedestal on which the statue stood upon being engraved with the words,

'In honour of the Ascan kingdom's founding finance minister Mada Hits, lays the Commercial district of Vercantis.

Upon noticing that the commercial district could allow him access to plenty of job opportunities, did he realise that he remained penniless, with no home or friend to his name.

He wandered across and into countless stalls and shops, but upon laying eyes onto his ragged, dirty clothing, most merchants and stall owners would tell him to get lost, in fear that he was to scare away customers with his dirty looks.

He looked to beg for food, for he was desperate and having no other avenue to such resources, he begged. Yet, people passing him were not kind enough to even pass pitying glances, with many scorning him.

He could feel the hunger build up within him, his stomach constantly increasing the volume of the groans it would release for the lack of any fueling, and the tiredness that grew within his legs started dragging him further down.

He had lost all hope, until he heard a man scream, "You pay me barely anything, and need me to do such hard work, I wander why I was crazy enough to even accept this job before.I QUIT." as the man angrily walked out of a shop, above which stood a plaque stating,

"Erolyn's Magic Book Shop."

Upon seeing that, he knew that this would be his last opportunity, so he wandered into the store and noticing the angered middle aged woman behind the desk, he walked up to her but before he could say anything, she angrily shouted,

"What do you want!" as she knew that with his clothing, he would definitely not be a customer.

"I need a job",replied Shandy

"Do you even know how to read and write, how to do account books, how to sort the books in the library."

"Yes" replied Shandy once more.

Seemingly baffled that someone in such rugged clothing were to be capable of such tasks, she got convinced that he was making a fool of herself, yet, with not much else to do, and of the slight hope that he was telling the truth, she said,"Prove it."
