We arrived to the lake, and went into the separate bathhouses, and the girls switched into swimsuits and put shorts over them. The boys just wore their swim trunks. I had a sky blue halter top, and a matching bottoms. The shorts I had on were a darker blue. Erik had black swim trunks on, with a white stripe down the side.
"Oh, fancy boy, wearing the Nicks brand swim trunks! Where did you get those? They are so expensive!" I asked as Erik walked out the boys' bathhouse.
"My aunt got them for me. She said they were for Christmas but she sent them a few days late." He replied, shrugging.
"A few days? It's February!" I exclaimed.
"I know, I know. By a few days I think she meant 53 days." Erik chuckled. We walked to the pier, and once we got halfway onto it, we stopped.
"Ready?" Erik asked. I nodded, taking off my shorts, standing in my swimsuit, and he started counting.
"5...4...3...2...1!!" Erik yelled and we both bolted down the pier, and cannonballed into the water. When we finally came up both of us were laughing, and trying to figure who hit the water first, when a sweet voice carried across the water.
"I think it was a tie. You might have to go again, and if you'd like me to, I'll judge the second jump." It was Ms.Chamomile. She was also a very happy lady similar to her fiancé Mr.Green. She was slim yet still had generous curves, and muscular. She had pitch black hair cut in a bob, with the ends dyed a lovely shade of lavender purple. She had upswept, striking blue eyes, and a slender nose. Her full, pale pink lips were usually parted to reveal her straight, white teeth, in an award-winning smile. She was currently wearing an Adias sports bra top, and running shorts of the same brand. Ms.Chamomile was another favorite teacher of mine. We both smiled and thanked her for offering, as we climbed back up onto the pier. We walked back to the halfway mark, and I started the countdown this time.
"5...4...3...2...1!" I yelled, and once again we both bolted down the pier.
*SPLASH*
"Sorry Erik, but I think your bestie won that time, but you had the bigger splash!" Ms.Chamomile said when we both broke the surface. I beamed and turned towards Erik, but he wasn't there. Confused, I turned back to Ms.Chamomile who's grin had gone from fun, to devious. I was about to spin back around in the water, but Erik came up under me, and picked me up. He then proceeded to throw me back into the water. I came back up, and shot him a death glare, but then burst out laughing. Our teacher and Erik were already losing it.
"You should have seen your face!" Ms.Chamomile wheezed. She impersonated my facial expression, causing both of them to laugh even harder. I swam over to them, and splashed them both, making them cry out and splash me back. Other students wanted to join in the fun, and pretty soon everyone was in the water, jumping in, splashing, and laughing.
"Attention swimmers! We will have more fun time, but after we finish what we are actually supposed to be doing. Please drag your wet selves up in land, so we can begin!" laughed an exasperated and soaked Ms.Chamomile. We climbed out of the lake, and joined her on the beach, all wringing ourselves out. I grabbed my discarded shorts, and put them on, even though I was going to take them off again later anyways. We all say in the warm, soft sand and Ms.Chamomile began her lesson, about the importance of a good diet, and exercise, what were the best workouts for each muscle group, and so on. Once she had finished, she allowed us to go back into the lake, or to play on the beach for the last half hour of class. Erik and I joined a game of beach volleyball, and destroyed our competition. We swam in the lake a bit, and when it was time to go, we showered, toweled off, and changed back into our regular clothes. Erik was, once again, waiting outside for me. We turned and walked back up towards the school buildings, ready for lunch. Erik, still full of energy, was dying to race me up to the apartment. I obliged, and we both stopped at the foot of the hill. We both yelled "Go!" at the same time, and dashed up the hill. Erik and I had always been naturally fast runners, and extremely high stamina and endurance. We made it to the staircase, and practically bounded up them. We bolted down the hallway, and I only won, because I was on the side of the hallway that the apartment was on.
"I won! Finally! HAH!" I exclaimed, gulping down huge mouthfuls of air
"You only won, because you were on the door side of the hall." Erik said, smiling, in-between gasping breaths. We opened the door, and Erik collapsed onto the couch. I closed the door and flopped down next to him. Checking the time, I said, surprised,
"We made it home in 3 minutes, instead of the usual 13. Then again, we were going at a full out sprint."
"Huh. That's pretty good...for a girl." Erik mumbled with his eyes closed, and I lightly hit his arm. Tired, I laid my head on his chest and closed my eyes, listening to his heart thundering in his chest. We must have fallen asleep because suddenly my watch was beeping that we had 10 minutes until we typically left the house, to make it to class on time. I jolted up, and smacked Erik's arm. He woke with a start, and grumbled.
"What? Why'd you wake me up?"
"We have 10 minutes to eat lunch and leave!" I hissed, already up and heading to the kitchen. I took out bread for two sandwiches, and Erik came in, and started grabbing stuff to out on them.
"Cheese... Turkey... Lettuce... Tomato... Cucumber...Butter...Do we have butter? Oh, found it." I put the bread in the toaster, and started cutting up the veggies, while Erik sliced the cheese, and grabbed a few slices of the turkey that was pre-cut. The toast popped up, and I cut off the crust on mine, and put butter on them both, sliding it to Erik. We became a mini assembly line, walking along the counter putting on each piece of food. I grabbed two plates, and put the sandwiches on them, setting them down on the counter. I then reached into the fridge and grabbed some leftover fruit salad from yesterday's lunch, and spooned some onto each plate. Sitting down, we quickly ate the fruit, and the sandwiches. My watch beeped just as we finished, signaling it was time to go. We set the plates into the sink, and left the house, practically running to make it to the History building before class, so we had time to clean ourselves up a bit more.
