Chapter 7 - History is Interesting

"Holy crap! We barely made it to class! Phew!" Erik said, as we walked into History. We had jogged, not ran, because we didn't want to get a cramp right before class, and we still made it to the bathrooms in time. I fixed a few flyaways, and splashed my face with water to cool down after running. I quickly left, and both Erik and I slid into our seats right as the bell rang. Mr.Castleton glanced at us as we sat down, and gave an amused smile, then turned to write the lesson on the board. He was a happy man, full of life and love. He always made class fun, by cracking jokes, and doing silly gestures and playing games with us to help us understand the concept of what we learned. It was like being in Middle School again, and we all loved it. He was a tall man, with an average build. He was balding, and wore wire rimmed glasses. He had the beginnings of a grey beard and mustache, that would hopefully not grow long enough to cover his happy smile. He had a unique laugh that was extremely contagious, and had a great sense of humor. He cared a lot about his students, and made sure everyone was alright. "So, today we will be learning about World War II. It first started on September 1, 1939." Class continued as usual, until a kid in the back asked about the history of the Academy.

"Well, I suppose we could talk about it since it's part of the history you should know... Alright then. The Academy was first built in 1975. This was 4 years before the hostage situation in Iran of 1979. American soldiers tried to free the hostages, but were forced to pull back. Our students were able to negotiate and fight their way to peace. We specifically trained our freshman those four years for that exact situation, because our Headmaster then, was a seer. Seers are extremely rare, and our school has been continually blessed by the Gods to have a seer for our Headmaster every time one retired."

'So, this term's headmaster is a seer?' I thought to myself. I asked Mr.Castleton if our Headmaster was able to see everything we did at all times.

"Yes, and no," he replied. "The visions come when they want to, at random times, and are typically uncontrollable. They usually depict a major dilemma that will arise, and the date is usually snuck in somewhere in the image. To help, each seer has been taught how to speed draw, so if they can't interprete their own dream, they can draw it out, and show it to a Dream Interpreter, quickly while it is still fresh in their minds. Our current headmaster is unique, as he has more control over his visions, so if he has an object belonging to a specific person, he can see what they have done, and what will become of them in the near future, and if it's a good day, then he can see into the far future. On the bad days, the Headmaster can only see the feelings of what has been and what will become. "

I grinned inwardly. This could be a great opportunity for me! I could get that fool Chris suspended or better yet, expelled! if only I had something of his...

Suddenly, Erik leaned over and set a hair tie on my desk. It was small, black and had long red hairs on it. I looked at him incredulously.

'How did you know....?' I mouthed.

'I know you.' Erik mouthed back, grinning slyly.

'Where?'

'He dropped it when we were changing after P.E.'

'Did you know about the Headmaster?'

'Yes'

'And you didn't tell me?!'

'No'

I slightly pursed my lips, and frowned at him, and turned back to the teacher. He had finished talking about the Academy, and both of us wished we had been paying attention, because he mentioned we would have a test on it after the weekend. Class ended, and Erik and I started the walk back to the house. We decided to look up everything we could about the Academy in the school's library the next day.

"You know what? I need to go to the library today actually. Why don't we both go now, you can start looking up information about the Academy, and I'll look for what I need." I said.

We turned towards the library as Erik replied,

"Ok, but what do you need to look up? Maybe I know something about it, or I could help you find it, since info on the Academy is easy to find."

"It's nothing you could help with, no offense. It's just something I need to find on my own."

"Alright..... If you need anything just call for me. Well, no cause Ms.White won't be too happy, so just come find me instead."

Ms.White was the school librarian and our Reading Teacher. She looked like a certain Mrs.Claus. The woman had short, curly white hair, and a pale complexion. She was a short, cheery little lady, who was so in love with books I was sure she would marry them, if she could. She had bright blue eyes, and perfect white teeth, and thin lips always wearing cherry red lipgloss. Ms.White was everyone's favorite grandmother-figure, because she was such a caring, motherly person, always wearing a light blue polo, dark jeans, and a white cardigan, along with wire rimmed glasses, that sat on the edge of her nose. She waved to the both of us as we walked in, happy that some students actually came in here to do the thing she loves most. Erik walked to the history section, while I walked to the science section located upstairs. I started looking through Psychology Books for "Hearing Voices at Night" ,when all of a sudden the voice came again.

'Go to the clearest place you can see, and come to find me'.

The voice is so lilting and eerie, it sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it. I ignored it and kept on searching, until finally in the back, on the shelves that would have been dust covered, if not for Ms.White's meticulous care I found a few books relating to what I needed. Opening one of the books, I found "What To Do If You Hear Voices That Aren't There." Skimming through, it turned out to be nonsense. I shut the book, and scanned through the rest. All of them turned out to be more gibberish, and fake news articles. I put the books back and strode off, heading towards the stairs, to find Erik. I found Erik sitting at the front of the library, talking to another girl in one of our classes, and for some reason felt an overwhelming sense of jealousy. I shook it off, and walked up to the table, to ask what he had found. He explained that the girl, Aysh, had saw the book he was reading, and kinda just started talking about the history, everything in the book, and out of the books. I smiled and thanked her for helping and if I could join them and hear what she said too.

"I- Uhm, ye-yeah sure." said Aysh, studdering.

"Are...you ok? You seem flustered." Erik asked, tentatively, as if trying not to frighten a small child.

"Yeah...yeah. I just... Can you excuse me for a second?" Aysh asked, clearly terrified, of something.

"Sure, go ahead." I said calmly.

The girl squeaked, and dashed out of the library, on the verge of tears.

"What on Earth just happened? Was she like that before, or was it only til I got here?" I wondered, confused.

"It was only until you got here. She didn't notice you, until you said something, and she freaked out, and seemed like she was about to jump up and hide behind me. It was weird. She seemed like she knew you, and didn't want to be anywhere near you. She was mortified." Erik replied, just as confused.

After a few minutes, the girl came back inside and sat down. She took a deep breath and launched into a lecture on the history of HMABS.

"...and that's all. That's everything I know on the Academy. I hope I helped a bit." Aysh said, concluding her speech. It had lasted for around 2 hours.

"Yes, I certainly think it did. Thank you so much for that Aysh. I wrote down quite a few interesting facts. I appreciate your help, but I have one last question." I replied.

"Ok, ask away." Aysh said nonchalantly

"Have.... Have we met before? I recognize your name, and your face looks so familiar, but I can't place where from..." I questioned.

Her eyes widened and she quickly said

"No! No, we have never met before. Ever. Not once. Nope. Well, it's late. I've got to go. Bye." Aysh got up and once again dashed out the door, before either Erik or I got a chance to say anything else. We glanced at eachother, reading the thoughts flashing in our eyes, as we stood, collected our stuff and walked out of the library, into the black night.
