Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: #Awkward

"Sweetie, please ask this lady why she is here."

"Okay, mommy. Lady, my mommy wants to know why you are here."

"….uh, kid, who are you talking about?"

"???-My mommy wants to know why you are here!?"

"Kid, I am here to take a Affliction Apprentice down, we got information that he had been staying secluded and the organization thought that he might be trying to Rank up to a Warlock."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Baby, it was a mistake, say you are sorry for the misunderstanding."

"Mommy told me to say sorry, but I still am mad at you for trying to hurt my friends."

"Uh, kid, where is this "mommy" you are talking about?"

"???"

"Are you scared, kid?"

*The kid could have cracked under all this pressure with him being so young. Hmmm, but he keeps talking to her like she can make decisions…maybe it is some type of coping? Either way, this kid took out a Capped Rank 0 Affliction Apprentice, that's very impressive…and why does he have so many zombies?*

"Mommy says that being scared is not good and that I should be strong."

*Ah, yup, definitely a coping mechanism…*

"Kid, why don't you come back to the Temple with me. We can help get you situated."

"Baby tell the nice lady that you are okay and that you are going to go home to your dad."

*This lady can't hear me talk at all; I might be fully merged with my baby. This means I can be there for him all the time, thank goodness. *

"No lady, I have to go home to my dad, he is waiting for me to get back…"

*AH, I see, these aren't his zombies, they might be his father's. That makes so much more sense, I wouldn't want my kid walking through a battle zone alone. RIGHT, that explains the retainer Roger too…best to let him go. I'll just clean up and head back to the Temple then. *

"Alright kid, but make sure to tell your father what happened and tell him that the Temple is not going to pursue this matter as there were no injuries. Be careful kid!"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Marvin saw the mean lady off, his mother began thinking about what her son will eat for dinner. Mary normally cooked dinner at 5:00pm on the dot but she no longer had a body to use.

"Sweetie, can you ask Roger to find something for you to eat?"

"Okay mommy, Roger, can you get something to eat, I think mommy is hungry."

"As you command my Liege!"

Roger ran off into the forest. He was thinking about more than he had in his whole unlife.

*It is so pleasant to serve my Liege, he treats us Undead with so much respect, and he even lowers himself by calling us his friends. I used to be able to shoot a bow fairly well, but I don't have a bow right now. Actually, I am not even sure where I got these daggers, but they are so familiar. I think I used these during my training for the militia…no wait, maybe it was a different time. Let me check my status.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*That's strange, I never learned any conjuring magic…why do I have those skills? It could be an undead thing? WOAH, THAT BLESSING!!!! My Liege really must be special to have the strongest blessing….WOW! Maybe I can get my Liege to help me with a bow? *

Roger, after placing rudimentary traps went back to see his king. He was thinking about how amazing his king is at such a young age.

"My Liege" Roger said as he kneeled in front of Marvin.

"I have placed the traps, but I have no bow to hunt with."

"Hey Roger, mommy and I were just talking about my Stats and your Stats. Mommy was wanting to know why your stats are filled in strangely."

"My Liege, I have no control over my Stat placement, I am your servant so I follow your will. This means that my Stats will be allocated according to the class that was chosen."

"Roger, mommy wants you to explain how the Stat works please."

"At once my Liege. The Stats are placed in a pattern determined by runes for monsters, but humans are able to place them in the manner that they see fit. When I was alive, I placed 2 into Vitality, 2 into Dexterity, and 1 into Endurance. This is how people typically place points as we all specialize in something, but we must be at least able to take a hit should anything go wrong. Dexterity is my main combat attribute because it helps me move my entire body more efficiently for killing. Vitality is needed because it helps prevent sickness and injury in general and it makes you harder to kill. The endurance is needed because I would be in the forest for long periods walking everywhere. I would sometimes place a spare point into my strength so I can stab and slice more deeply but other than that, I didn't need any other stats.

My Liege, most mages would go into a Vitality/Intelligence/Wisdom build. If I may be so rude to ask, what level is my Liege?"

"My mommy says thank you Roger, and I am level 1."

"…M…my Liege…"

"Yes Roger?

"..How did you Rank up at such a young age???"

"Roger, mommy said that I am Rank 0-Level 1."

Roger was kneeling with his head down and his mouth agape. He felt a sense of panic as his Liege's life was in true danger at all moments. Roger recognized that even a stray arrow could kill his Liege and that filled him with despair.

"My Liege, we must protect you!"

Roger ordered the other zombies to form a square formation around Marvin and commanded them to protect the Liege inside the cabin.

"Roger, what are you doing?"

"My Liege, it is unsafe to have you outside without at least 500 Health Points as you could be killed by most ranged attackers without us having the ability to respond."

"Thank you for worrying Roger but its okay, nobody will hurt me…"

"My Liege, you have been under attack 2 times since I have been promoted, and I have left you vulnerable. I cannot let you perish as you will be of great importance to this world. My Liege you are a King, my King, I must do everything in my power to protect you."

"Roger…my mommy agrees with you, she said that we will wait here with the other men. She wants you to think of a way for me to level…"

"My Lady is wise beyond her age; I shall do as she commanded."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Mary blushed in the most complicated way possible, Roger ran off into the forest and willed to protect his Liege. He focused on his Weapon manifestation ability to produce a bow with arrows. Roger was determined to hunt for worthy prey for his King.

----------------------------

Meanwhile at a local Temple called Mari's Path.

----------------------------

"Sir, the rogue Affliction Apprentice, Derek is no longer alive. On my way to carry out the deed, I noticed a smell of undead near the location. Apparently, there was a kid that commanded 36 zombies in the area, and he beat me to it."

"Hmm, 36? Are you sure?"

"Yes Templar, I am sure. There was also another man with him, he was able to disappear from my sight and held his weapon against my throat in less than a second. I believed him to be a retainer."

"That means he was at least Rank 1. To be able to disappear out of your sight is quite impressive. Did this retainer have a name?"

"His "Liege" called him Roger and they seemed to have a rather serious relationship, like master and servant."

"I see, well, put it in your report and head over to the treasurer to receive your reward for the mission. Thank you for you hard work as always, Samantha."

"Thank you, Templar Jones."

"You are dismissed."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Well, it probably isn't anything important, likely a retired Necro just sending his kid to town with a protection unit…but he would have to be pretty strong to have loyal undead from such a distance, right? Hmm, maybe he could be of use if the Livonians raid the town again. *
