As Marvin and the gang make their way to the Barren-Wilds, Marvin begins to realize that he is going to have to learn how to create a real weapon before crafting it with mana.
"Roger, this is so difficult, arghhhh…This is my 4th headache today."
"My Liege, I wish I was able to help you but what you are doing is very advanced. Perhaps after leveling, we could visit a Smith and you could learn from him. It takes more than a good material to make a weapon…or at least, that's what the Smiths say."
"Alright, alright, how much farther do we have to walk?"
"My Liege, we are expected to arrive by sunset. This will allow us to set up a camp for you."
"Thanks Roger."
"It is my duty, my Liege."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After setting up camp and getting cozy, Marvin began thinking about how weapons are actually made. Marvin understood the concept of heating the atoms to increase their kinetic energy and therefore decrease the structural integrity. This would increase mailability and allow a craftsman to bend it into the shape that is desired. But Marvin didn't know how much heat was needed or the rest of the process...
*If I completely breakdown all residual structures that resign within the metal, do I have to make it an alloy or introduce carbon? This is so weird; I know almost nothing about it. I really need a book on smithing. *
*Imagine how strong we would be if we all had weaponry. I thought this class was going to be a massive boon, but I guess I just suck…"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alright, I will stay here with 10 of the zombies and Roger. Randle, you head out and get them some levels."
"Understood, my Lord."
After waiting for 3 hours….Marvin was slightly bored…
"Hey Roger, how long will this take? Randle has been out there for what, days?"
"My Liege, it has only been a few hours. Do you require assistance?"
"I don't know, I just feel like this should be a little faster."
"My Liege, in this world, hunts go on for weeks and most people are lucky to Rank Up in their late 20's."
"Ah, so, it is pretty slow…"
"Um….my Liege, that is considered a rather brisk pace here. For some empires, yes, that might be indeed slow. But that requires a massive force and allowing royalty to get the last hit on a creature. That is considered the easy way out though."
"So, Randle is going to be gone for a while…"
"Yes, my Liege, I believe so…"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marvin stood up and started to work on his mana crafting when he felt something happen in the distance. It was like a *PING* that ran through his body.
"ROGER, I feel something over there, past that boulder. It feels like it is rush air."
"My Liege, shall we go see what it is?"
"Yeah, lets go. Let's bring all of the zombies."
As they headed in that direction, they saw a hulking man kneeling on the ground. He had dark armor and it was dripping with bright red blood.
"RANDLE!!! Are you okay? What happened?"
"Ah, My Lord, I was coming to get you, but I was attacked by this creature. It is of no concern; it did not even scratch this armor. I came to get you because one of the zombies began to glow, but it is different this time."
After they made their way to the horde, Marvin understood what he meant. There was a large pulsing light coming from one of the former zombies.
*Ding* A subordinate has reached experience and mana capacity *Ding*
*Ding* A subordinate is preparing to evolve *Ding*
"Um, guys, it says that it is preparing to evolve. Why would it be evolving?"
"…"
"Ah, maybe….no….wait…"
"Randle, the zombie got the last hit, right? Did it have the look in its eye?"
"No, it did not have the look in its eye. That's when I started to run."
*Ding* Evolution path is beginning, selection is premade. *Ding*
"Guys, I got a notification that the "evolution" is starting."
"…"
"…"
"Oh, OH, OH….WAIT"
"Roger? Have you figured something out?"
"I believe so, my Liege. Monsters are believed to have no soul and that means that they would have no choice or say in the path that is laid out for them. See, we have never known what makes a monster a monster, but it is safe to say that it is the total lack of control. Somehow, when you are controlling them, you are making them more human. This has never happened before, this is history."
"Ah, so what do we do, what is this creature going to turn into?"
"Well, it doesn't have a soul so it might not be able to think, but there are smart monsters out there…Maybe the monster label is limited to those that are bound ultimately by instinct…"
"My Lord, Roger seems to be correct, this creature might have instincts that we are unaware of, but it should be overridden by your presence. This means that we do not know what will happen to it or you. Should the "thing" attack you, we must be prepared."
"Agreed Randle, my Liege, this thing is unknown, and it may want to attack you. Think of a mad dog that can suddenly think, it could be dangerous.
"Okay, okay, bring everyone back to camp and we will get prepared."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When all the zombies were back at camp, they sat the frozen zombie down in the middle of the circle. Randle and Roger were in place, while Marvin sat watching the beauty of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"HEY GUYS, IT'S HAPPENING!!!"
"Understood."
The zombie began to seemingly melt in certain places and grow in others. The dried and rotted flesh began to fall off and a beautiful skeleton could be seen.
Then red tendrils began to rewrap the skeleton and organs began to grow at a visible speed. The beautiful white skin was shinning in the light when the Midnight black hair fell to her waist.
When the body was done being molded and kneeled in the nude. There was a certain motherly soul telling her son to close his eyes.
"Roger, mother wants me to close my eyes." Said Marvin, as he closed his eyes.
"My Empress, it is unwise to remove sight in a potential battle…"
*Oh my god, she is so NAKED, AHHHHH, why…. goodness gracious…* *Soul-based facepalm*
The woman, then looked up with her crimson red eyes.
"MY KING, I RECOGNIZE YOU AS THE TRUE RULER OF THE VAMPIRES. WILL YOU ALLOW US TO RESIDE IN YOUR KINGDOM?"
*Ding* Title gained *Ding*
*Ding* Title superseded *Ding*
"Roger, what is the King of Vampires???"
"Uh, my Liege, this former zombie has evolved, and I guess she is now a vampire…"
"I didn't know there were vampires in this world…cool."
"Sir, there are no more vampires in this world. They were hunted to extinction by the elves…5000 years ago…"
"So? We just gained a new member of the team, didn't we?"
"Sir, if this woman is who she says she is, then that would mean that she is a royal and she would be able to revive the vampire race."
"Cool…" *I hate vampires, they are the bad guys*
"Miss, what is your name?"
"MY KING, MY NAME IS ALEXANDRIA AND I AM OF ROYAL-BLOOD. WOULD YOU TAKE ME AS A MEMBER OF YOUR HAREM? IT IS MY MISSION TO REVIVE THE VAMPIRIC RACE, SO WE MAY SERVE HIS HIGHNESS."
