The five individuals flew to New York for the engagement ceremony. All the guests dressed up in their best formal attires and arrived at the Empire State Building. Everyone in the audience was eager to reminisce how the boy proposed to the girl at first, and they demanded to do a replay of all the events that transpired.
Before the event was about to start, Aiden approached to Olivia, who was sitting all by herself. He said, "Well... usually at these type of occasions, people have a date or a plus-one. Don't you have anybody to do couple-like-things?" Olivia gave him a questioning look and replied, "I don't have a date. I'm single, so I don't know what do singles do around here." Aiden questioned, "What type of people would you date? If you were given that opportunity?" Olivia responded, "What type of person would you date?" Olivia gave him a questioning look and said, "Well, you see, I have standards. I am not going to date a guy who is solely attractive and impressive in terms of physical features. I don't like the label of dating. All I want is to spend a lot of time with the person and have a lot of meaningful conversations. Physical contact and flattering comments mean nothing to me. I don't settle for relationships that have nothing to teach me." Aiden's expressions started to falter, and he asked Olivia, "I feel like I've had the same conversation with someone like you. I feel like you're my s--" Olivia completed the sentence, "Sister?" Aiden said earnestly, "Wow! I guess I do have a lot of important stuff to remember. Well... in the meanwhile, would you be my date for this boring event? I can't stand this touchy ambiance for even a second!" Olivia smiled and answered, "Yeah! The feeling is mutual. And I would be happy to be your date for the evening."
A few moments a later, as Aiden, Olivia, Mavis, and Pauline took their seats, the ceremony commenced. Vincent and Sarah appeared on stage. He came down on one knee, held Sarah's hand, and proposed to her. As soon as Aiden saw what was transpiring before him, memories of what happened and how he suffered the past ten years, came flooding back. He remembered everything; how Sarah broke his heart and how close he was with Olivia, his father's death, and his firm in Beijing. Everything cam running back to him in a nick of white and bright flashlight.
Aiden clutched Olivia's hand tightly and whispered, "Olivia! I remember everything!" Olivia raised an eyebrow and whispered back in reply, "What!? Wait... how?" Aiden smiled with tears in his eyes and said, "Yeah! You're my sister, who ditched me! And left without an explanation that I deserved!" Olivia replied, "Aiden, I'm extremely sorry! I knew that I should have talked to you about that, but you have to understand that being a doctor is what I've always wanted! If you considered me as your sister, you should support me in whatever I do! And I would always do the same for you." Aiden smiled in reply and looked forward and saw what was happening on stage. He rose up from his seat and yelled, "STOP THIS ENGAGEMENT AT ONCE!!!!!" The couple and the audience gasped and turned around to look at Aiden who screamed that statement with tears in his eyes.
Olivia held his hand and said, "You've got this Aiden. Just take a deep breath and open up to your heart's content." Aiden thanked Olivia for encouraging him, turned over to the couple on stage, and responded, "Sarah, don't do this to me. I know, I've been such a coward in the past that I never got the chance to tell you how I feel about you, what I always felt about you. The past ten years, I thought that this feeling has disappeared and always tell myself that I just like you as a friend, a teammate, but deep inside my heart, I loved you... Sarah, I LOVE YOU!!!"
Vincent got furious and yelled back sarcastically, " Oh hello, Mr. Cheezypants, what drama are you trying to start here? This is my engagement; you goddammit!" Vincent faced Sarah and whispered to her, "Sarah, don't listen to that bastard! You should trust me." Sarah just stared at him with cold eyes and shouted, "TRUST YOU?! YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHILD WITH LOMBRIZ THE EARTHWORM?! YOU CHEATED ON ME; AGAIN!!" Vincent's eyes went wide and asked her in disbelief, " What do you mean 'my child with Lombriz'? I never had a child with her, nor did I cheat on you." Sarah replied, "YOU, LIAR! AND IF YOU WANTED TO LIE, YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST USED PROTECTION. YOU SON OF B****!!" Aiden asked, "How is Lombriz related to you and Vincent?" Sarah took a deep breath and narrated the story of how she knew everything.
*FLASHBACK (SARAH'S POV)*
In short, Vincent cheated on me with Lombriz in high school. And then he stooped that low to do it again. After you told me that the doctor thought that you were pregnant and the whole situation was a massive mistake as the pregnant report was for Lombriz, I went to the reception and secretly took a sneak peek of her file. There it was signed by Lombriz, that Vincent was the father of the child. I wasn't even planning on marrying him. I just wanted to embarrass him in public and show them his true colors. Now, this whole pregnant issue is a plus point to support my genuine feelings for Vincent.
*END OF FLASHBACK (SARAH'S POV)*
Vincent shouted, "Wow! Ms. Sanchez! You were smarter than I thought you would be. Well, I guess, me dumping you in high school did really change you. You may have won this battle, Ms. Sanchez! But mark my words: The war is not over." Aiden screamed, "Yeah! You dare try to touch her!" And within no time, Vincent felt ashamed and ran out of the building with guilt and anger, leaving as a trail.
