Chapter 32 - Chapter 22.1: Convincing

A few months later, Aiden was supposed to meet up with Mavis and Pauline after his photoshoot in the studio. He called them to tell that he's going to be late and while he was conversing with them on the phone, his cameraman called out behind him, "Hey Air-Man! It's time to wrap up!"

On the other side of the phone, Mavis and Pauline were jaw-dropped at this as they were fans of the favorite model Air-Man. They look at each other with surprise and back at the phone until Aiden said, "Okay guys, I need to go. My colleague asked for my help." They immediately yelled in reply, "W-wait, wait! Don't hang up yet!" Aiden was a bit startled at this. Mavis and Pauline asked in curiosity and excitement, "Aiden, tell us... Are you Air, as in the Air-Man??!!" Panic-stricken him. He had no idea what to say until he finally gave up and replied in a hustle, "I'll explain everything later, I promise! I'll text you the address, okay? We'll meet up there in an hour or so. Bye!"

The girls were dumbfounded at this and later on, a text message came, and they both read it and headed there in no time. After a while, they finished their work and arrived at the restaurant that Aiden suggested.

As Mavis and Pauline entered the restaurant, they were spellbound at what was present in front of them. Mavis said, "Holy crap! This is fancy!!!" Pauline replied, "Who on earth is going to pay the bill? Your father?" A few moments later, Aiden entered the premises with bodyguards surrounding him. Mavis and Pauline barely recognized Aiden. Pauline blurted out, "You weren't kidding!" Mavis added, " Yeah, you look savage!"

Aiden spilled all the details of his life back in Beijing and how he became a model. Mavis responded, " Aww... that's so sad. Okay, now let's go down to business! Pauline, projector, please." Pauline raised her eyebrow and replied, "Mavis, this is not your conference room. You are trying to convince Aiden as your friend, not as one of your nasty clients!" Aiden laughed at the scene that was happening in front of him and coughed for them to get serious. He continued, "So what is it that you want to talk about?"

Mavis replied, " We want you to come with us to Oxford." Aiden's eyes widen, and he asked, "What? Why?"

"Since we know that you are Air-Man, we want you to attend a charity event to promote the needy causes. Plus, this will be good for your image." Aiden replied, "No way! You will just be using me there." But the main reason why he didn't want to go was that he knew that Olivia was there. He then remembered how she ditched him and ran away to Oxford, telling him out at the last moment. Mavis and Pauline pleaded, "Oh come on, please! We really need you there. We don't know what to do without you, and we will call you the boss or big boss." The two did the puppy dog eyes on Aiden to beg him to agree to come with them. He cracked a smile and said, "Okay, but this is the last thing I'm gonna do for you mostly because you guys look really cute right now." The three of them laughed and enjoyed the rest of their fancy dinner.

After arriving at Oxford, Mavis and Pauline arrived at the event earlier than Aiden. The two girls were busy setting up their booth for the occasion. After finishing their final touches for their exhibit, Pauline asked, "Mavis, can you call the event in-charge to see if our stall is okay?" Mavis agreed and went over to summon the event in-charge. She went to the other side of the hall to see that the in-charge was busy conversing with someone else. Mavis, patiently waited for her to finish up matters with the person who she was working with. Mavis was shocked to see the person who turned out to be the event in-charge. It was none other than Olivia!!

Olivia was also equally surprised. She stammered, "H--hi Mavis! L--long time, huh?" Tears filled in Mavis's eyes. She was angry but correspondingly happy to see her. Mavis responded, "Why did you just leave like that?" Olivia replied, "I'm sorry, but I had no other choice." Pauline suddenly spotted Olivia talking to Mavis, she approached and joined the conversation. The three of them talked everything out and laughed about how crazy it was that the three of them reunited at a charity convention. The two girls exchanged phone numbers with Olivia, and they promised to be in touch this time. Pauline said, "I know that this is a beautiful time for everybody, and we are happy right now, but I still have another shocking news for Olivia." Olivia raised her eyebrow and replied, "Meeting you guys here is the biggest surprise for me. There is nothing else that can top that." Pauline blurted out, "Aiden's coming here!" Olivia's eyes filled with tears, and she left the area without uttering a single word. Mavis responded, "Good job on making her cry again, you big dummy!"

A few hours later, just before the charity event commenced, Aiden arrived at the front of the building, waiting to cross the street to join the two girls who were waiting for him on the other side of the road right in front of the building's door. The light of the signal turned green. As he was crossing the way, a black car came out of the blue, speeding and in turn hitting Aiden really bad. The last thing he knew was people surrounding him, the sound of the ambulance's siren, and the black car taking off. Darkness surrounded him, and he fell into unconsciousness.
