Promotion day was after a couple of weeks, which indicated that the dance was only a week away. Mavis, Olivia, and Pauline didn't have a date, so they decided to go as a group whereas Sarah had a marvelous chance of Aiden asking her to the dance. Mavis called another meeting at THE SPOT while Sarah was at practice. Pauline and Olivia arrived at the library at the same time. Pauline scoffs, "Let me guess, this is about..." Olivia completes the sentence, "Aiden asking Sarah to the prom." As they said that Mavis asked, "What's that supposed to mean?" Olivia replied with a concerned face, "Mavis, we got them together, right? If Aiden asks Sarah to the dance, I will be the happiest person in the world. Our aim was for them to be friends. We pushed them more than what we should have. The matter isn't in our control anymore. It's their decision, and if we don't like the outcome, then I guess that we should respect it." Mavis looked at Olivia and said, "You're right. We did the best we could. The matter is in their hands now."
After a few days, the four girls were at their lockers, grabbing their lunch boxes. They realized that the hallway was empty. Sarah said, "Where on earth is everybody?" Pauline replied, "I was going to ask you the same question." Suddenly, the lights started flickering, Olivia, Pauline, and Mavis screamed and fled away from there. Sarah was alone in the hallway, questioning her decision to keep her feet stuck to the floor. The lights came back on, and what she saw before her, shocked her. It was Aiden, standing with a bouquet of roses in front of her. He took a deep breath and started talking, " The moment that I saw you at Holland College, I knew that you weren't just a regular girl. You are the unique person I have ever met. When you were elected to represent our school at tryouts, I couldn't say anything. And I honestly don't know why. But I do know one thing. I like being around you more than anyone else. Will you go to the dance with me?" Sarah was speechless. She wanted to scream at the top of her voice and say yes. Her mouth was moving, but nothing was coming out. Aiden recognized that face and replied, "That nervous, eh?" Sarah composed herself and gracefully accepted his proposal.
It was the day of the dance. Everyone dressed up in their best outfits and were ready to hit the dance floor — the event organizer mentioned in the announcements that there will be a specific award for different dance performances. The prom was everything that Sarah or any middle schooler could ever hope for in their lives. Sarah and Aiden accomplished the slow romantic dance award. And Sarah's companions obtained the best choreography award.
There are some moments in life that we remember forever. For Sarah, this was one of them.
