Chapter 2 - day one : Jaycee and the gay boy

My mom dropped me off to my new school gave me a hug and drove away.  New school, new bunch of people. I really hate moving around but I have been transferring school and moving houses for as long as I remember. My mom's an artist. She's very impulsive and moody. She has a tendency to drag me off the mountains and to the provinces so she could work. This time though, I begged her to let us live in a city so I could finish highschool normally and move to a proper college.

I entered the registrar's office and was greeted by a guy- a gay guy- arguing with the student assistant. He's really good looking for a gay, too bad. He could have had many girlfriends. He noticed me entering and gave me the eye.

I don't despise gay people like many others.  My father outed when I was ten and left me and my mom to be with his boyfriend. But he was a responsible father. For seven years, despite him leaving home, he has been paying for my school, comes to my birthdays, Christmas and other holidays. He has constant communication with me and he's still friends with Mom.

"Go out with me." He suddenly asked

"What?"

This guy's crazy. But I admire his courage. I know he's gay cause he's emitting rainbows but something about him makes me curious.

"Fine."  I responded. I did get my mom's impulsiveness, obviously.

He was surprised at my answer. I didn't know why though. Wasn't it normal to receive a yes when you ask someone? Or was he expecting a rejection?

"I'm sorry I changed my mind." He said and walked out.

Okaay. That's so weird.

I turned my attention to the student assistant after he had left. I gave her a smile and she immediately came to my aid.

"Can I help you?" She inquired.

"Yeah, new student. Jay Benedict Cortez."

She pulled out a folder and handed me a sheet.

"Here is your schedule."

"Thanks." I flashed her another smile and left.

The gay guy who asked me out was still standing outside the registrar's office looking at the bulletin. I walked past him and peeked at what he was looking at. It's a want ad for volunteers at an elderly home. That's probably what he was arguing with the lady inside. Not that I care too much so I just walked away.

I head to the bathroom to take a leak before going to class. I wasn't really nervous since I have been doing this for so long. I just don't like the idea of introducing myself over and over again. Oh well.

I came in the classroom and the room went silent. Okay? What was that about? I then noticed him again, on his phone, sitting at the corner beside the window. I strode towards him and sat down.

"Hi."

"Hi." He answered without even bothering to look at me

"I'm Jaycee."

He finally looked up from his phone. "Ivan" he said and shook my hands.

"You sure you gonna sit there?" He suddenly asked. "I'm gay you know."

Yeah, so what? But I didn't say it out loud.

"I know."
