Chapter 161 - Just a Small Luxury

I had thought that Alex would understand, considering that this is the chance for him to make amend with both of his parents. And maybe, just maybe, he could rekindle their relationship, and in doing so, it would give him the family that he has always sought for.

But that is none of my business, for personal matter is private. There are some lines that must not be crossed, and we both are mentally old enough to know what the boundaries are.

I wonder if that is why I haven't had any interest in any girl so far? In my mind, they are like little kids, and thus, it feels just wrong. I wonder if Alex has this problem.

As for the other things that I had referred to, I can tell Alex now along with how to fuse multiple auras together, but before that, I need to find a place to settle down my mother. That is when I come to the realization that I have not salvaged any furniture. A bed, for example.

Honestly, a warm and comfy bed would be incredible right now, and those kinds of luxury completely slip my mind.

"Alice. Can you look after my mother for me? Just for a little while," I request of her, and she is happy to oblige. I can go and grab one of the beds right now, and I know exactly where.

"Of course, Zan," Alice responses. "Just leave your mother to me."

I nod afterwards and hand my mother to her. I head out of the Subway Station afterwards.

"Hey Zan. Remind me what was the reason for not bringing Alice back?" Alex asks me via the Intercom, and if I do not give him a good reason, he will keep asking, not insistently like Thomas did, but it is still annoying as fuck.

"It is not that simple, Alex," I answer him. "The artefact that allows me to rewind time is residing within my Soulscape. And I noticed that when I awaken you, it had reacted. Not in a good way either, so until I understand what is happening, awakening Alice will probably make things worse."

The sands within the Hourglass is descending even faster. Before, I had probably decades. Now, I only have years. And I really do not know what would happen if time runs out. It will not be anything good, I am certain.

"Seriously? Damn," Alex understands. "Then what about me? What if I awake her instead?"

"I have thought about that, but it is also not that simple," I answer Alex. "To enter her mind, you would need to awaken your Spiritual Power first. Then you would need to reach the pinnacle of the Spiritual Realm. It will take months to get there even if you have access to all the necessary resources."

"Oh… hey, wait a minute… how did… oh, your Soul came back with you? That is a cheat! A cheat!" Alex calls out. "Fuck, where is my cheat!? I want my cheat!"

I chuckle at that. "Anyway, I notice that you have not stabilized your Magic Core and its ring yet."

"Yeah, I was working on that, but I notice the transport stops moving, and I think it standing right there in the open is more of a pressing matter," Alex responses. "Where are you going, by the way?"

"Going to get some beds for my mother. For the others too, I guess," I reply. "I will be back as soon as possible, and when I do, let's try that thing we had talked about."

And with that, I teleport to where Natalie and Eric were, only to find Eric dead and Natalie half naked.
