I am shocked. Utterly shocked.
This is because Enri was supposed to be dead. Sacrificed herself just like Alex had done so to save the last of the human race. Me included. Yet, she was there in his last moments, and from her aura alone, she has been corrupted by darkness.
I can feel his guilt as he is forced to fight her to defend the gate. Since the darkness did not cross over into Eden, Alex must have been victorious. Sadly, his sacrifice had only brought a little bit of time. It is still a noble sacrifice, nonetheless.
But before I could confirm the outcome of their battle, I find myself standing inside the caravan while it travels through a parallel dimension thanks to the Fast Travel option.
"What…? Alex!" I call out and render my friend help. "You alright, man? Take it easy."
Alex looks at me before shaking his head. "Is that you, Zan? You look like a fucking corpse. Really. Are we in Hell? Or something. Love to return to that place. Heaven would be fine too if they allow us there again. Fuck those asshole angels."
"Alex. You're delirious," I point out and help him gets seated. Having an entire life crams into his head will result something of sort. Not exactly everything, unfortunately.
Most of the sealed doors are still there within what remains of the Labyrinth. It is up to him now since I doubt that he will allow me into his mind again. It is an invasion of privacy.
Alex takes the better half of an hour to recollect himself. The second half to curse at me or himself. It is hard to make out what he is saying since he uses all sort of languages. Like me, Alex now knows and speaks many languages, and he curses in all of them.
"Zan… where are we?" Alex eventually calms down. "Who are they? Wait… is that your mother? Holy shit! Are we in the past? Status!"
I ignore him since he will answer himself, and while he does whatever he needs to in order to get with the time, I have a look at the System Statistic.
There are exactly 2 players under the System now. Me and Alex, and with what I have just done, there can be more. A lot more. But should I awaken them? That is the question.
"Zan," Alex calls me again. "Don't tell me that you have something to do with this? This new timeline."
I eye him this time and let out a heavy sigh. "I kill it, Alex, and it doesn't bring me any joy at all. Everyone is still dead. Earth is still gone forever. You have no idea what happen after you decides to be a Hero."
Alex stares at me. "To rewind time. What did you give in return? Actually, I don't want to know. What should we do now? We don't have the power to even get to them let alone fight them."
"Not yet," I answer. "But we will, as they are not invincible. By the way, was that Enri at the end?"
"Enri is dead… well, not anymore, but it was not her. They defile her! They! Fucking! Defile! Her!" Alex curses. "That is why we have never found her body, Zan."
It was a favorite method of the Ruler of Death and his servants, resurrecting those that we loved and cared for so that we have no choice but to kill them with our own hands. It was the only way to allow them to finally rest and free their Soul from endless torment.
