Not so priceless to the Shop System, as it rewards me with a very nice amount of GP. While the amount is not as much as I have hoped, it is still something, and any amount will help my goal in the long run.
In exchange, I keep my end of the bargain, as it builds up my reputation and fame. While my customers would not know whether I had cheated them or not, the System definitely does, and I want to have a good reputation as soon as possible for more goodies.
I arm the men who have paid according to their request, and as I do so, I feel like a walking armory of sort. Not a bad feely, honestly, considering that my profession is called the Merchant of Death. Pretty sure it does not mean an arms dealer.
But regardless, it doesn't really cost me all that much to arm the men with their choice of weapons or armors. Not so much the armors, as the men only had given up their weapons on demand.
Oh, the Major did order them to comply, but I doubt she really meant it back then, considering doing so would result in her men becoming hostages. But then again, she might be counting on me since she did not particularly push for my request to accompany her as her advisor.
Maybe.
As for breaking out of the jailcell, it doesn't really worth a mention thanks to my Inventory, and while the ability does feel like a cheat, it is because the jailcell doesn't account for magic. But humanity will get smarter. And more creative.
Once the men are free, they immediately take positions, aiming at the doorway, readying to take down whatever or whoever is coming through.
I stay back to enjoy the show, at least for a little bit. There is no need for me to get in harm's way. Not like the first time around, as I learn that there is no profit to be had.
The gunfire outside the building intensifies, and eventually, it dies down, indicating that one side have won the battle. I wonder which one, and the men also do. But when the doors get blasted apart from the other side, we all knew which side have won immediately.
"Fire at will!" the acting pleader calls out, and all the men unleash hell, only to be greeted in kind. And sadly, some bullets have found their mark, killing several men. "Fuck! They can use guns!? Fall back!"
Of course, they can, and I am not very surprised, as most infected and drones retain a little bit of their memory as well as their skills. Even if they do not, the Hive Mind will ensure that all the drones under its control will have adequate skills and abilities to further its agenda.
As such, the battle of attrition begins.
Unfortunately, the favor is on the oppositions, as they greatly outnumbered the defending men. More than that, their physical abilities have been greatly enhanced by the Hive Mind, allowing them to tank quite a lot of bullets before going down.
"Wait… they are people? Our people!?" one of the men calls out, as he initially believed he would be facing actual monsters. Yet, in spite of that, he cannot stop himself from pulling the trigger repeatedly, as the other side will not relent. "My God! Are they even people anymore!?"
The armed infected and drones ignore most of their injures to continue firing at the men. And as long as their body is in one piece, the Hive Mind can heal them completely, making them quite relentless.
