Chereads / One Last Merchant / Chapter 105 - Kaleidoscope of Memories

Chapter 105 - Kaleidoscope of Memories

The mindscape eventually shifts, and a different set of memory is played. This time, Stellar is sitting in the backseat of a speeding vehicle, judging from the trees and buildings zipping by.

In the front seats are her parents, and they are arguing quite loudly.

Despite that, I cannot really make out what they are saying, as their words seems to be distorted. This is likely because Stellar cannot remembers what her parents were arguing about. She only remembers that they did, and she was there, watching it all unfolds.

Just like me now, through her memory.

"Stop fighting!" Stellar eventually shouts, and her outbursts gain the attention of her parents. Both of them looks at her questioningly, and the memory becomes chaotic before blacking out.

When it returns, the car is mangled. Her parents are the same. Her dad is unmoving while her mother struggles to reach out to her from the front of the turned over car.

"Stella…r," her mother gasps desperately, and with each breath, she becomes ever weaker. "Please… you have… you have to get out… get out…"

"No. I don't want to, mummy. I don't want to," Stellar cries, reaching out to her mother with her little arms.

"Please listen. Just listen to me! Please… just this once… honey…" her mother utters, as tears running down her face, mixing with her bloods. Her outstretch hand points at the shattered side window. "Get out… get out… now! Get out!"

Stellar is small enough to crawl through, and while her mother probably can, there is just not enough time to do so, judging from what the people outside are doing, and soon enough, one of them rushes towards and grabs Stellar, pulling her away from the burning vehicle.

"No! Let me go! Mummy! Mummy!" Stellar screams. "No!"

The car explodes, and the explosion shakes the memory, causing a complete black out. The mindscape becomes quiet, as I am too. I wonder if Stellar blames herself for what happen to her parents. Perhaps, she does.

I sigh at that and decide to take control of her mind before another memory is played. While it is kind of interesting, I am not here to view her memories or read through her thoughts. I am here to acquire the control of her body, as it is for her own safety amongst other things.

And there are several ways for me to go about this

The best method would be convincing her to relinquish her control of her body to me, as doing so will be by her own admission. This method is also the slowest since I have to understand quite a bit about her character in order to convince her successfully.

And that would take time. A lot of time. Time that I might not have at the moment.

In contrast, the easiest and fastest method would be straight up dominating her mind and suppressing her will. It will likely leave her braindead as a result, and that is a terrible end for someone who I have always considered a friend.

Since neither is good, I decide to use a more balanced approach instead, as such, I begin reaching out.
