Chapter 103 - An Irreplaceable Asset

I honestly do not want to leave the Major by herself, as she is one of the key figures in the future. Even if the future has diverged greatly, her role in the wars to come does not diminish at all.

If anything, her role is far greater due to being part of the first wave of Zones. She was part of the later wave of Zones, and thus her growth is different, and I like to witness her growth from the start if I can.

Yet, I must return to my physical body, as Stellar is far more important than the Major. Unlike Stellar, the Major is replaceable. While I do not wish for that outcome with the Major, I will choose Stellar if I have to, as Stellar is a unique existence as indicated by her class.

As soon as the spiritual connection is severed, I blink and look at my surroundings, finding the soldiers are being too twitchy for my liking. They must have done things they really do not want, like shooting women and children to save themselves and others.

To a Hive Mind, there is no discrimination. It might even be favorable as women and children are more vulnerable to the infection. Children are obvious. As for women, it is because they can be transformed into new Queen.

This usually happens when the hive expands. But in most instance, they are used for their womb. That is not the worst possible fate.

I sigh at the thought and start to channel my Spiritual Power, allowing spiritual energy to radiate right out of me. I focus the spiritual energy into a tendril and then have it reaches out towards Stellar, who is trying not to cry despite the other children are still crying.

Once my spiritual energy comes in contact with her body, I pour as much of it into her as fast as I can, forcing her to convulse violently. Before one of the guards can get to her, she lost consciousness.

That is my intention.

"Hey? Wake up kid?" the soldier calls out, trying to wake her up but to no avail. He has no choice but to lean her against the wall since she might be infected.

It is also because of the commotion outside of the building.

Dozens of soldiers burst into the building and start giving orders. They want to separate everyone into groups. Men. Women. Children.

As for the Major's men, they are in their own group, as the Major wants them to be cleared as quickly as possible.

"What about him?" one of the soldiers points at me due to my gasmask and camouflage attire. As for why I can keep my gasmask on, it is likely because they know about the dangerous spores permeating the air.

"He is not with us," one of the Major's men answers, and the rest appears to agree with the statement, including myself. "But the Major would like him to come along, as he is her advisor."

I smile at that. It does look like the Major have trained her men well. From what I have witnessed thus far, I can say that while they might not be as fearless or courageous as she prefers, they will hold their ground if they are ordered to do so.

Since I need an opportunity to slip away before taking control of Stellar, I accept the invitation.
