"What should I do?? It was not as if I could bring Samara back once I revealed the truth. It would just make her life appear more pitiful than it already was. Samara does not want to look pitiful. She would hate it"
The young man said, but it was more like he was saying it to convince himself.
"Are you the one who killed her???"
Aiden asked suddenly.
"Me? No! Of course not! I would never ever hurt Samara. I loved her. She was the only girl that I loved this much. All I wanted was to help her. But in the end, I just made things worst."
The young man replied in a tone full of despondency and the more he spoke, the smaller his voice became.
"What really happened between the two of you? C'mon. Tell us."
Nathalia put her hand in the young man's shoulder and urged him to speak further and as if a cooperative child, the high school guy complied.
It seemed that she used another of her hocus pocus again on the child
"Samara. She was the nicest as well as the most beautiful girl I ever met. Her smile was the brightest and the sweetest that I have ever seen. But she doesn't know how beautiful she was. She also did not have that much confidence in herself. Primarily because she was born mute and she was undeniably depressed about it. We started as friends then we eventually become lovers and we dated for more than a year. That was when I decided to refer him to my uncle. Because I thought that she needed professional help to cope up with her depression. Not knowing that my decision would eventually cause her life."
Before he knew it, the high school guy already started telling his tale.
This was actually his first time telling another soul about the truth of what happened.
After Samara's death, he tried to live his life as if Samara have never been part of his life before.
Somehow, he finally felt relieved after telling someone about his deepest secret as well as his most painful memory.
He loved her but like a coward, he had to live his life after her death as if she never existed in the first place.
This was his greatest source of distress that was slowly killing him inside.
He felt guilty and he could not help but blamed himself for what happened to her. But at the same time, he could not say anything about it.
Because he had to protect something.
He kept on telling himself over and over again that he was doing it to protect Samara's image after her death.
But he knew better than anyone that it was not just Samara's reputation that he was trying to uphold.
There was more than that.
There was more that he had to protect, so he must remain his silence.
That was why he thought about taking his own life and take that secret with him and be silent for all eternity.
"My uncle worked as a resident psychiatrist in this hospital and he was one of the best. So I personally introduced Samara to him. Then.... asdfghjrjlklkjfdkd...."
The young guy continued his story but not long after, his words started to become incoherent because he could not help but cry as he told his story.
"Shhh... Stop crying now or you would end up draining yourself and force out all the fluid in your body. Come, drink this first."
Aiden said before he handed a bottle of water to the other party.
After that, Aiden turned to face Nathalia and leave her with instruction.
"You should stay here and try to get more information from him as much as you could. I'll go and look for someone in the psychiatric office."
"How could that help us????"
"Well, thanks to someone, I happened to be acquainted with one of their psychiatrists since I used to attend therapy for my trauma or whatsoever. I knew someone there. Maybe I could get some information from Dr. Coolman's office."
Aiden replied with a voice full of sarcasm before he decided to take his leave
"Hey! Are you telling me to babysit this crying baby?!!"
Nathalia asked in deviance then she tried to grabbed Aiden from his arm to stop him from going away.
"Yes. Just be patient for a little while. I will be back shortly."
Aiden said as he tried to pry away his arm from Nathalia's grip.
Then without waiting for Nathalia's response Aiden started to walk towards the exit and closed the door behind him.
Leaving Nathalia scowling at the crying young man beside her.
Right after leaving the room, Aiden immediately went straight to the sixth floor and visited Dr. Coolman's office.
'Knock! Knock!'
Aiden knocked twice at the door of Dr. Coolman's office, first to announce his presence.
"Dr. Coolman. This is Aiden Jones. May I come in?"
He called.
"Come in."
Dr. Coolman's highly therapeutic and calming voice sounded from the other side of the door.
Aiden slowly turned the knobbed and the door made an eerie creaking sound as Aiden tried to open the wooden door.
As soon as he came inside the office, Aiden saw Dr, Coolman sitting comfortably in front of his desk while he was busy scribbling on his note.
But as the door finally closed, Dr. Coolman let go of what he was doing to entertain his sudden visitor.
"What can I help you, Mr. Jones?"
Dr. Coolman asked with a kind smile.
"Well, hmm... It is like this... "
Aiden was not sure how he could start a conversation with his therapist.
Let alone get information from him about a random girl that used to be a patient in their psychiatric department without drawing any suspicion towards himself.
"Uhmm. It was actually about my cousin... I came here to talk about her because I think it was on of the things that bothered me the most and it could be related to the trauma that you mentioned before."
Aiden suddenly came up with a story and he started from there.
"She was still in high school at that time."
Aiden continued his story while Dr. Coolman lent him his ears and listened attentively to every word he said as always.
Just like a good therapist he was.
