Aiden hit the button a few more times yet it still remained wide open.
"Oh, c'mon dude?! Don't you know how to use an elevator??!"
Clark taunted as he impatiently slammed the button responsible for closing the door.
Right after he did that, the elevator very cooperatively closed the door.
"TSS! Haaaayyyy... What else could I expect from a countryside bumpkin after all? It was not as if they could afford to install elevators in mountains"
Clark said to no one in particular but Aiden was sure that it was meant to mock no one else but him.
But just like before, he remained his silence and decided not to argue with Clark's rude remark
With nothing else left to do, Aiden just focused his attention on the red number that was being displayed in the panel as the elevator continued to descend down to the very last floor.
He watched as the numbers continued to tick down until they reached the ground floor. Yet when the displayed showed 'G' the elevator suddenly halted and they got stuck inside!
At the same time, the light inside the elevator also went off.
It was a total blackout!
"WHAT THE HECK!"
Aiden hissed when something cold suddenly touched his skin.
It was so dark inside the elevator that he could hardly see what made that cold sensation.
He touched his arm that was feeling cold but there was nothing strange on it.
Also, the cold feeling in his arm suddenly vanished and instead, it was replaced by a tingling sensation on his face.
It was as if there were some hairs falling in his face, so he tried to wipe it away.
"Clark????"
Aiden called out but he got no response.
There was only silence inside the dark elevator.
He stretched his arm to reach the man who stood next beside him but there was no one!
He turned around and repeated this action and he soon found out that there was no one inside the elevator aside from himself!!!!
He was left alone in the dark elevator and everyone was mysteriously gone!
"No, no, no, NOOOOOOO!!!!!! Let me out of here!!!"
Aiden shouted at the top of his lungs as he frantically slammed his fist at the cold stainless door of the elevator with all his might.
It was then that Aiden was reminded about his conversation with Nathalia the last night.
The thing about his sixth sense being opened and being able to see ghosts.
It was like he woke up only to experience another nightmare!
Then as if preparing him for another spooky treat that was about to unfold, the elevator light flickered back on.
At first, the light was slightly dimmed and it alternately goes on an off in the intervals of every two to three seconds.
Only the sound of static from the light, as well as Aiden's labored breathing, could be heard inside the elevator.
The confined space inside the elevator allowed this minimal sound to echo inside making it sound louder than it originally was.
Aiden closed his eyes tight because he was afraid that once he opened his eyes, he would see something terrifying staring back at him.
But that was not a wise move at all.
Because the less he saw, the more his ears tried to hear everything around him.
Being unable to see but capable of hearing everything only amplified his fear in tenfolds!
But he has no courage to open his eyes.
"DING!"
At last!
The elevator opened once again.
The moment the elevator door opened, it was as if life also resumed inside the elevator.
Clark, as well as the other fraternity boys, was also back and they all went out of the elevator as if nothing happened.
Only Aiden was left stupefied inside the elevator.
"What now?? Do you enjoy your first trip with an elevator that much???! Are you planning to take another roundtrip? Get out of that damn elevator already. We have to go, now!"
Clark said with a raised eyebrow as he watched Aiden making a fool of himself inside the elevator.
Aiden stepped out of the elevator but his mind was on something else.
"What happened to me just now??? Was it all inside my head???!"
He wondered to himself.
He half absent-mindedly followed Clark and the others as they continued to make their way towards the final exit of the hospital.
Just when they were about to turn left on the corner where the way that leads to parking lot goes, Aiden accidentally bumped into someone.
It was a guy in a school uniform and judging from his look most likely he was already in his senior year.
The student used the same elevator where they came from and just before the door finally closed, Aiden had a glimpsed of the highschool girl that boarded the same elevator alongside with the high school guy.
It was a high school girl with long, jet black hair.
The other party's head was hung long but the moment she raised her head, Aiden saw that her face was covered with blood and it was dripping down to her white uniform.
Aiden was frightened out of his wits when he saw that, but before he could do anything, the elevator door already closed.
