Chapter 88 - Rumor Has It

Brie and Rosa are having coffee in a gazebo surrounded by vine plants. Rosa nurses a headache so she requested to stay and rest in the villa. Unintendedly, she has an excuse to miss the rigorous campaign for a day.

Brie speaks in a hushed tone. "You know I heard before, they say Senator Graysen is a homosexual that was why Crina Spataru ran away? Oh well, she ran away with a rich older man. I wonder if the rumors about your husband were true or it was Crina who likes living rich."

Rosa's eyes roam to check if anybody is around as she sips her coffee. She tells Brie in her softest tone of voice, "According to Crina, Graysen neglected her. She craves for the attention which that rich old guy gave her. So, she ran away with him."

Brie reacts, "But how can you justify it if as a mother you left your biological child for almost 10 years and did not reach out all those years? Can I surmise that she is a selfish person?"

Rosa smirks, "Uh, as if you have become a mother already."

"I am aware of the big responsibility of raising children that is why I don't have one," Brie retorts.

Rosa curiously asks, "But would you like to get pregnant?"

Brie thinks for a while. "If I did, why not?"

Brie turns to her phone at the sound of a message. She clicks the video link sent by Madam Desta Apta.

The video shows Crina Spataru is surrounded by the press and being interviewed.

Brie shows her phone screen, "Hey, look. Speaking of the devil."

In the interview, Crina Spataru divulges that Senator Graysen keeps their daughter away from her using his famous model wife as a shield.

A reporter asked, "Is it because they said you ran away and left the senator and abandoned your daughter?"

Crina explained teary-eyed, looking afar as if reminiscing her past, "I sacrificed my career when we were together but I felt abandoned during the time of my pregnancy. Graysen was not around most of the time. He deemed his career more important than me and our child that was why I decided to ran away."

In the middle of the noisy crowd, a comment chimes in, "But it seems the senator has changed. It looks like he loves his wife very much right now."

"I don't know. Maybe Senator Graysen loves his wife after all she is rich, famous, and useful for him." Crina states innocently.

Somebody throws a follow-up question, "What do you mean by that Ms. Crina?"

Crina evades it. "It's all in the past. All of us have moved on already."

Brie lays her phone on the table. Voicing her theory, "You know, either the press found out the existence of Crina Spataru and looked for her. Or Crina deliberately let the media know that she existed."
