Chapter 29 - I Think I Missed It

She spends the whole day in the room only going down to eat lunch together with Athena. She flops her body on the bed until she drowses again. She did not even have dinner but sleep until the next day.

She takes a bathroom break as the sun rises but goes back to sleep again. She did not even notice that Graysen arrived late and left early.

She fully wakes up mid-morning. Realizing something, she dials Brie's number all of a sudden. Brie sees her phone screen blinking displaying Rosa's name. She lets her leg dropped from her yoga position and press the green icon.

"Brie, Brie!" Rosa shrieks.

"What?" Brie panics from the tone of her voice.

"I think I missed it."

"What is it this time?" Brie returns to her relax mode when she hears Rosa's usual statement.

"Come here and buy three items for me. I'll send you a text," Rosa commands.

Brie idly takes a shower, fixes herself, and gets into her car. She drives unhurriedly making a one time stop before going to the Andrei's villa. She likes to experience seeing Rosa lose her composure once in a while.

Nana Amor guides Brie upstairs to Rosa's bedroom.

Rosa exclaims when Brie enters the room, "How come you're just here now? I've been waiting for you for a long time." She suddenly grabs the paper bag Brie is holding.

Brie lazes her body in the couch. Rosa comes out from the bathroom and hands her three sticks. One has two red lines while the other two sticks displays faint lines.

Rosa pulls Brie, "Come with me to the hospital."

"What hospital?"

"Just come." Rosa pleads.

When they reach the ground floor, Brie inquires "Wait. Have you eaten?"

"Not yet."

"I thought so." Brie pulls her to the kitchen.

Nana Amor prepares a simple food for Rosa. Rosa sends a message to her doctor friend who used to catwalk with her before that she is coming over to her clinic.

Rosa hastily eats her poached egg and honey pancakes. She gets up from her chair still gulping her fresh strawberry juice.

"Me driving or you driving?" Brie asks.

Rosa replies, "Of course you old lady."

Brie protests, "Who's old? Am not going."

"Not you. Madam Desta." Rosa veers her answer.

Rosa stays quiet until they reach the newly built city hospital. They board the elevator going to the 5th floor. Rosa knocks on a door. A doctor opens the door.

"Anita, is that really you?" Brie greets recognizing the former ramp model who is now a doctor.

"Hi Brie it's nice to see the both of you. Come in, please," Anita welcomes them. "Whom am I going to do a check-up? Is it Brie or you, Rosa?"

Brie points to Rosa. Dr. Anita Kloet tells Rosa to be calm first. She asks her basic questions and gives her a cup to put her pee and calls for a nurse to extract a small tube of blood. She orders the nurse to facilitate the laboratory test.

Anita brings them to a nearby restaurant to have a late lunch while waiting for the result. Dr. Kloet does not have any scheduled patients in the afternoon so they stayed in the restaurant chatting until she receives a call from the nurse that the results are out.

Rosa walks out quickly. Anita grabs hold of her arm and reminds her not to hurry and just walk steadily to avoid any mishaps.

The nurse has been waiting for them at the clinic door. She hands an envelope to Dr. Kloet. The doctor opens the envelope to read the laboratory test results. She turns to Brie and Rosa sitting in the lounge chair.

"Congratulations Rosa, you are almost 8 weeks on the way."

Rosa looks at Anita. Obscure with what her reaction should be. Should she be jumping for joy? But she is still disappointed with Graysen's deceit.

Brie's mind works better in the afternoon. She gets alarmed. Anxiety starts building up inside her. She clutches her chest.

"What's wrong Brie?" Rosa worries.

"Your work commitments. We just signed another contract." Brie breathes erratically.

Dr. Kloet checks, "Are you having a heart attack?"

Brie answers, "No. Am having stomach pains."

Rosa confusingly looks at Brie, "Then why are you holding on to your chest?"

"The pain is reaching up to here," Brie justifies.

Dr. Anita Kloet clarifies,"You might be having a heartburn."
