Chapter 38 - Last Few Nights, He Didn't Let Me Sleep At All.

Mu Yuhaan froze as the soft voice sounded ahead of him, waking him up from his stupor.

The subsequent unearthly quiet heightened the drumming sounds in the left side of his chest. He himself didn't realize that he was going to suck Mian's earlobes!

Mian, with her ninja-like movements, diced a large onion finely, thinly sliced white and pale green parts of 4 scallions, then minced medium cloves of garlic expeditiously.

"Mr. Mu," She called out, getting no response.

Mu Yuhaan mutely retreated a few steps back lickety-split, forcing himself out of the cloud of desire, that were almost blinding him. Luckily, he got his senses back in time. Otherwise, he would have botched up everything!

"Huh?" He put the question in a syllable, somewhat resisting the sudden impulse to reach for Mian's ear. He didn't want Mian to be feart of his action, but to lean onto him, with the desire blooming within her accompanied by the same level of urgency.

He had to wait for that.

"I mean, are you allergic to shrimp? Earlier, I decided to cook a shrimp dish without asking you." Mian articulated her point.

Mu Yuhaan sucked in some air, composed himself, then spoke in a tone all too calm. "No, I am allergic to only cow milk."

"Oh," Mian resumed her chopping. She worked in batches to ensure good flavor and plenty of heat for each ingredient.

Mu Yuhaan looked down at the bulge in his pants. It stirred, activated with a fire of desire, fueled by emotion and thirst for Mian. He had to fight this unforeseen urge to wrap his arms around her, fuse her body with him, hyped up on adrenaline and lust.

Mian was a kind of aphrodisiac for him which failed all of his sex resistance training!

Mu Yuhaan closed his eyes, unable to quell his heat. He looked at Mian who was immersed in cooking. He inhaled enough breath to fill his lungs, then let it out slowly, pulling out all thoughts of 'that' out of his mind, before coercing them vamoose. "I am going to the restroom, will be back in a while."

Mian just nodded her head in response.

It took every ounce of Mu Yuhaan's willpower to move away from there, pushing away the passion and desire.

Mian, on the contrary, heated some olive oil over medium-high heat, dropped two eggs close to the pan to avoid splashing, and seasoned it with salt and pepper. She tilted skillets to pool oil against the side. Avoiding yolk, she boasted egg whites with hot oil.

When Mu Yuhaan came back after releasing himself, Fried Shrimp Rice was ready for consumption.

...

Mian put down the CT scan report on the table, and looked at the oldman, who was sitting with his wife, in front of her. "You have a malignant tumor in your brain called Medulloblastoma, that's why you have been having a severe headache recently."

The air of dolorousness surrounded Qin Bohai, turning him woebegone instantaneously. He sighed heavily and looked dejectedly at his lap, while his wife, Lin Qiang held his hand tightly, her face blanched.

Gently she stroked the back of Qin Bohai's hand, and tried to console him with a reassuring touch; when she herself was on the verge of crying. For a moment, the fear that she might lose her husband took over, shaking her heart upside down.

Mian saw this tense atmosphere and immediately gave them her assuring smile. "Don't worry at all! The tumor in your brain is still in its initial stage, Sir. It's still small, with chemotherapy and craniotomy, you will be absolutely fine, just like before." She spoke gently, her words sounded like a simple list of facts, nothing serious.

These statements was like a sun of hope, which peaked from behind the dark clouds, reducing the gloominess, and assuaging the fears of the couple. The breath escaped their lungs in a quick sigh of relief. "When will you start my treatment Dr. Mian?" Qin Bohai asked.

"I would suggest you undergo the surgery ASAP. We should not delay in these types of situations. Two weeks later, if that's okay with you. However, before that, in this pre operative phase, you need to undergo some chemotherapy or radiation." Mian opined, looking at Qin Bohai.

"Will you mitigate the tumor or completely remove it?" Mo Qiang couldn't help but ask, a trace of anxiety seeped into her voice.

Mian smiled, "Whenever possible, every surgeon tries to remove the entire tumor. If the tumor can't be removed without damaging vital brain tissue, they try to remove as much of the tumor as possible. However, in his case, it can be removed completely, without any complications." She explained calmly, without minding the misuse of the former's words.

The perturbation and uneasiness which had been eating Lin Qiang inside stopped, she let out a subtle sigh of relief.

"We will be okay anytime soon, doctor. The sooner he gets rid of that evil thing, the better it is for me." Lin Qiang was prompt to reply. As far as her knowledge went, she heard tumor and cancer only gets worse with time. She couldn't fall asleep for the past few days in tension; stayed awake by her husband' side, trying to subdue his pain as much as she could.

Although Qin Bohai was used to put up with the pain, she could sense it, just seeing the popped up veins on his forehead.

Not for a second, Lin Qiang could entertain the thought of her partner, who had been accompanying her for the last fifty long years to leave her alone now.

However, Lin Qiang wasn't used to showing her affection to her husband, whom she had been bantering all throughout their lives with. Thus, she glared at Qin Bohai, before saying, "Last few nights, he didn't let me sleep at all. He made me rub his head all night. My wrists are hurting as hell. I think I should have an X-Ray test as well. I wonder whether or not my wrist's bones, and veins are all right." A litany of complaints spewed out of her mouth.

Mian had the sudden urge to laugh out loud, but she suppressed it, lest the old woman feel insulted.
