This sudden move caught Mian off guard. All she could do was smile at Mu Yuhaan sheepishly, and tried to look innocently palsy-walsy; at the same time, struggling to secure a grip on the overbrimming embarrassment within her, which had been only accumulating since Mu Yuhaan came.
Mu Yuhaan squinted his eyes at Mian.
'I shouldn't waste my time any longer. The sooner I find out about it, the better it will be for him. Jump in the business, Mian!'
Mian leaned back a little, folded her legs beneath her on the seat, with the thought that free and easy position would be more suitable to strike the 'friendly' conversation. "So, you were saying something about familiarising ourselves with each other? Let me tell you a bit about me first." She said, with inauthentic brightness.
Mu Yuhaan only nodded in acknowledgment, a sort of contentment flowing into his eyes when Mian showed interest in knowing him.
"My name is Li Mian, as I told you this morning. I'm a Neurosurgeon, I work at First People's Hospital and I'm 24 years old." Mian finished her quick introduction in one breath.
Mu Yuhaan leaned forward slightly, and rested one of his forearms on top of the table; his gesture showed how important he considered the conversation. "I'm Mu Yuhaan, President of the Mu Empire, 30 years old."
"What type of business do you do?" Mian asked out of curiosity, and tried hard to push back her laughter, which was threatening to flow out of her mouth. 'President! You sure have the guts! Lying in a really chivalrous and mannerly fashion! Hopefully, you will pull out a funnier answer next."
Mu Yuhaan due to his etiquette, coudn't answer while chewing. He swallowed, before saying, "We have all sorts of business, however, our main focus is on Technology and Weapons."
He didn't find Mian's asking about his business anything to be frowned at; after all he also dug out every single detail about her, before taking the step towards her. Mian wasn't money minded; however, even if she was, he didn't have any problem with that. He had loads of money, didn't that imply she would also like him a lot? If her love was commensurate with his money, then he had nothing to worry about!
Fully registering all parts of the answer in her mind, which was occupied with full attention, Mian sneered in her heart, 'Whom are you fooling? A President! How funny!'
She couldn't help but mimic Mu Yuhaan in a false, high, dramatic voice inwardly. 'I'm the president of the Mu Empire. We have all sorts of businesses, however, our main focus is on Technology and Weapons! Duh! One day, your truth will slither away from the secret mineshaft, and bite you on the butt! Truth always has its own way of coming. Perhaps, I might get it dancing attendance on me to see your face.'
Mian immediately ducked her head into her coffee mug, lest she should end up laughing at Mu Yuhaan's face. She didn't want to prick his bubbles yet.
However, no matter how much Mian wanted to hide her inner mockery, her face revealed a little bit of it. And being a shrewd businessman, it didn't escape Mu Yuhaan's eyes. He was puzzled, 'Did she think I was bluffing?' Mu Yuhaan was speechless at his own discovery.
"Let's talk about our childhood then." Mian said.
Mu Yuhaan nodded and finished another cookie.
"So, Mr. Mu, did you ever hurt your head when you were a child?" The words raced out of Mian's mouth a mile a minute, as she had been dying to know the answer.
Mu Yuhaan paused in his action of picking up the fourth cookie and connected his confused gaze with Mian's curious one, not understanding the question asked to him.
"Why would such question pop into the introduction?" He furrowed his long thick eyebrows while staring at Mian intently, for further elaboration.
He had a basic grasp of Mian's personality from the investigation, she wasn't the type of person who would talk arbitrarily.
Shiver ran through Mian's spine seeing Mu Yuhaan's serious expression. She subconsciously looked like a rabbit who just sensed the presence of a predator.
Then, thinking better for a reasonable answer, Mian started to chew her knuckle, which was alien to her habit.
Mu Yuhaan's profound gaze was set on Mian, as if he was trying to read her mind. Suddenly, he smiled, and spoke softly, "Is this an ongoing trend, talking about injuries on the first day? Pardon, I'm not active on social media, thus I was a little stunned."
He changed his way of talking 180 degrees on purpose, as he didn't want to scare Mian, not on their first day at least. The first day would be the pivotal point for leading all that he had planned.
Mian blew out a long breath through her parted lips under the pretext of smiling. She couldn't immediately say anything, lacking faith in her mouth, with the fear of seeing that look on the man again.
It was very scary! How could such a friendly and childish person transform like that? It was indeed a very rude question.
After a while, Mian forced out a smile, and gave Mu Yuhaan an unaffected look; although deep inside, she was still kinda scared. "You know, we all have some stories, where we get badly injured which leaves marks on our body for the rest of our lives."
To give her words a casual feel, Mian tried her best to act nonchalant, dragging out the novice actress, sleeping peacefully in a random corner inside her.
"I don't have such stories." Mu Yuhaan rocked back in his chair, not forgetting to take a cookie from Mian's plate, as his ones were finished. 'What's on your mind, Mian? What are you thinking, to have asked these sorta weird questions on the first day?'
Mian furrowed her eyebrows. "Try to remember, did you never bump into something hard or fall from a high place ever?"
How could he not? There had to be a reason for him to become this loose, right? Did he forget or what?
Instead of pushing himself down in the seat, Mu Yuhaan straightened up in a way that his entire back was touching the chair's back, as he stretched a leg out, and hooked his foot around a front leg of the chair Mian was sitting on, and crossed the other one over the stretched one's thigh at the ankle.
His lacing fingers on the table were tapping mutely on the back of his hands, and his calm, yet keen eyes sorting through the crazy thoughts running wild in Mian's mind.
'So, you think that I'm mentally unstable?!'
Mu Yuhaan was never interested in gaining insight into a woman's way of thinking, yet years persistently, or rather shamelessly let him hear quite a few times that even smart women's brains function differently, when it came to their men.
It was just, he never saw himself falling victim to it!
Mu Yuhaan was at loss of words, at the same time he discovered his unprecedented tolerance towards someone. Even after finding out Mian's outrageous opinion regarding him, he didn't get mad.
