Chapter 39 - Name

POV

Young boy:

I had stayed in the hospital for over a week now. The lady was always there when I woke up, and when I fell asleep. She would sing to me softly before I would enter the land of dreams. I had mainly been asleep for the majority of my time here. I love her singing. She would often hold me in her arms until I drifted away to sleep. It makes me feel warm and loved.

Today her hair was down and it formed soft and wavy ringlets down her body. Sometimes her auburn hair looked like fire when I would wake up. It was so beautiful and it made her eyes look even more stunning. She wore a navy blue t-shirt with a pair of denim jeans. A machine beeped and I could feel a paste entering my stomach.

I was not deemed fit enough to be on solid food when I arrived at the hospital, so I was tube feed the whole time. I was not hungry anymore; it was a nice feeling to not have my

stomach ache so much.I couldn't speak anyway because even If I wanted too I had damage to my vocal chords. I sighed and took a deep breath in.

I heard four loud knocks on the door.

"It's the Doctor, may I come in?" She asked.

"Of course Dr. Calumnia." The woman answered in a raspy voice. She cleared her throat a few time. My doctor was a woman in her mid thirties with black hair tied back into a long ponytail. She was a nice lady, but I didn't like it when she had to change certain needles out.

"I have good news!" She exclaimed excitedly.

"He can finally eat semi solid foods, and is stable enough for travel."

Travel? Where would I be going? I looked back at the lady that saved me. She just smiled at me. I snuggled back into her embrace. She giggled at my antics.

The doctor and the lady talked for a while, but I tuned them out. I was thinking about how my life would turn out because now I had her.

Would I get to go to a school? Would I get to watch movies with her? Would she tuck me into bed, like how I saw other moms do to their children? I really don't know, but I hope I get to stay with her forever and she won't leave me. She won't die, or marry someone and leave me behind. Right?

The lady nudged me. The doctor left the room.

"Do you want to go with me still?" She asked gently. To which I nodded my head vigorously. Her face lit up like the flowers blooming in the spring.

"Well now that that has been decided I'll need to call you something. I cannot just call you boy for the rest of your life. How about Kalib? Hmmm no.

Maybe Soren? Yes, I like that one. How about you?" She asked me genuinely.

I shook my head in agreement, and I looked like a bobble head. Truthfully I wouldn't care what she decided to call me. As long as she's with me I'm happy.

"Well then that's settled." She paused," My name is Nym, but you can call me whatever feels comfortable." I nuzzled deeper into her neck. I finally have a real name! I can't believe it! She gave me a name of my very own. In this state of euphoria I feel asleep.

I dreamed about a yellow bird flying over the trees. It was soooo pretty; I saw through the birds amber eyes. I looked at the trees beneath my yellow body. My feathers flapped in the wind turning into a golden hue. I felt free, and like the world was mine to travel on. I want to fly! Time passed differently in my dreams, but that was not a bad thing. Maybe I'll fly a little longer before resting in a tree. My wings grew heavy and I landed on a tall and strong silver maple. I found a little hole in the tree filled with soft grass and moss. I nestled myself in and fell asleep.
