"Is there a problem?" Luo Jingyi inquired.
Craning his neck in search of an exit, he informed her, "I need to go on a business trip. But before that, I'll drive you home."
"You don't have to. I can take a taxi." She refused right away.
Yun Jinghan contemplated before he said in finality, "I'll send someone to drive you home."
Luo Jingyi relented because it was pointless to argue with his persistence.
…
"I'll call you." Yun Jinghan promised as he held the door of the car. He saw her nod.
"Thank you for the treat. I hope that your investments will always be fruitful so that in the future I can always enjoy a free meal."
"I won't invite you next time." Luo Jingyi voiced out disapprovingly.
"Even if I do the dishes?" He pressed two palms together and pleaded.
A sigh escaped her lips. She was not in the mood to banter with him so she simply agreed. Anyway, it would be impossible to cook for him in the next few months.
"Go." Luo Jingyi shooed him away and pulled the door close.
"Let's go." She told K5 who Yun Jinghan ordered to bring her home.
Sinking into the leather seat, she closed her eyes. Tonight, she realized one thing. Perhaps hanging out with him wasn't a bad idea after all.
.....
As the sun streamed through the clear roof and lightened up the condensation beads on glass walls, an elderly was scooping small amounts of compost from the bag before mixing it with the soil in the black pots in front of her.
Chairman Shen moved to the other side to get what she needed. Looking around, a satisfied smile appeared on her face seeing that her herbs were growing well.
But the happiness didn't last long when her mind drifted somewhere else. Her grandson had been evading attempts to matchmake him. The latest one she paired was Song Huan.
"Poor girl." Chairman Shen pitied Song Huan as the memory of her crying on her lap popped out from memory.
"Such a bad kid!" She cursed, recalling what Song Huan told her. Why did her grandson have to like men?
"How could I face you, honey? Our grandson had become like this," she complained to her dead husband as though he was around. Heaving a sigh, she slowly lifted a new shoot from the seedling tray and replanted it in the pot she prepared earlier.
The hurried steps of the butler entering the greenhouse echoed to her ears but she ignored him.
The butler knocked on the wooden table to announce his arrival.
"What is it?" Chairman Shen asked unhappily while she carried the container and set it down on the closest shelf that contained a variety of pots.
"Chairman, the Young Master is dating." He reported cheerily.
Hearing this, Chairman Shen's mood worsened.
"I already know that." She gave the butler shooing motion and focused on what she was doing.
The butler was certain the Chairman was bothered by what Miss Song complained and had to correct that. After all, it's related to the future of the Shen Family.
"Chairman, I think Miss Song misunderstood what she saw. The Young Master doesn't like men. He is seeing Governor Han's daughter. They've even exchanged rings." He disclosed what he found out.
"So it's not a man?!" Because the Chairman suddenly stood, her vision became unclear and she wobbled.
The butler speedily walked to her side and assisted her to sit on the metal chair. Removing her dirt-stained gardening gloves, she reached for the glass and drank the water.
"Are you certain? This is not just another ploy for him to cover up his—" she paused, unable to say it, "—other desire." she finished off her sentence, settling for this word.
To answer her, the butler handed the tablet over.
Chairman Shen scanned over the photos of her grandson and a beautiful woman taken at different times —buying rings at the jewelry shop, shopping at the supermarket, watching at the cinema and strolling in the park. The angles they were taken were really good. Seeing the pictures, the things that were weighing down on her shoulder was lifted. Her heart was about to leap out of her chest because of happiness.
"But why hasn't he informed me of this?"
The butler had no answer.
"This won't do. They were engaged without going through proper procedures. Call Governor Han so our families can discuss this matter."
The butler acknowledged the order with a slight dip of his chin. But when he was on his way out, he was called back.
"No. Don't contact them yet." She changed her mind. Perhaps her grandson had a plan.
The butler approved of this decision. They shouldn't intervene. But something was boggling him. The Young Master was aware that they were being photographed yet he didn't send any of his men to destroy the cameras as he did in the past.
'Did he want the Chairman to know?'
Chairman Shen was unaware of the butler's line of thoughts. She was still reeling into that moment of happiness.
"What are you looking at grandma?" Yun Jian pushed his wheelchair to the living room upon seeing his grandmother grinning ear to ear. He could walk but Chairman Shen tied him onto that so he wouldn't getaway.
"Your uncle's fiancée. Here, take a look." She gave him the device.
Yun Jian's eyes widened instantly.
"Oh, it's Dr. Luo." He exclaimed and blushed at the same time.
"You know her?"
He nodded and informed her, "She was my doctor that you couldn't meet last time."
"Oh, really? That is good then. We are indebted to her so it is just right that your uncle will marry her. They make a great pair, aren't they?"
Yun Jian's handsome face crumpled into an ugly shape. "But grandma, she's my girlfriend."
Eyeing him sharply, Chairman Shen knocked him on his forehead. "You rascal! You are still a kid. You have a lot of time whereas your uncle is already 30. His organ is going to be defective if he doesn't marry sooner. Aiyah, such a waste of our amazing genes!"
Feeling dejected because his grandmother sided with his uncle, Yun Jian silently rubbed the pain. In his head, he was devising plans. He won't allow his uncle to have his girlfriend.
'Why should he when I met her first?'
