Three days later, Luo Jingyi flew to Sanya for the medical conference. It was raining when her flight landed in the evening. After checking in her hotel room, she stayed indoors and was lulled to sleep by the pitter-patter of rain against the window.
The next day, it was the sunlight pooling inside the room that woke her up. Briefly glancing at the time, she was feeling lazy so she lazed on the bed, enjoying the hard-earned free time. She planned to go out later in the day to wander around. When her phone chimed, she picked it up and read the message.
Yun Jinghan: Don't forget breakfast.
Luo Jingyi wondered if his messages were time-scheduled. For the past days, except for his short phone call the other day, he would send her reminders every 3 hours. His messages were short and the same all the time. A reminder not to skip meals.
Shaking her head, she sent a reply for the first time. Luo Jingyi realized she was indeed starving. So after changing her clothes, she went out.
.….
Yun Jinghan nearly dropped his phone when he received her message. He waited for her reply every day but she never did.
MY WIFE: Okay. Going to eat now.
Setting his phone on the table with a contented smile, Yun Jinghan scanned the document on his other hand. Eventually, his mouth was pursed into a grim line. Ignoring to read the rest, he flipped it back to the man sitting in front of him.
In the beginning, he had set his eyes on the property that this man owned. They had been negotiating for months and the last time they spoke, this man agreed on his terms. But this man suddenly called and informed him that he changed his mind. It was evident that the contract was written by someone else. It appeared someone meddled in his business again.
If he was going to get the property, it was on his term not on someone else ministrations. Now, his interest in it suddenly waned.
Yun Jinghan meant to say something to Amy when his eyes caught a side profile of a woman on the other side of the restaurant. Luo Jingyi was busily skimming over the menu. He scowled when the waiter kept staring at her.
Pushing the chair back, he rose and walked away but an arm grabbed his wrist.
"Wait, your brother is willing to pay $50 million for this property." The man revealed. He was very flustered.
'So it was my brother.' Yun Jinghan thought. When he received reports that this man's daughter had been meeting his brother, he brushed it off thinking it was just a coincidence. Nothing else.
Yun Jinghan forcibly removed the man's hand on him and suggested wryly, "Then let my brother buy it. And while you're at it, let him marry your daughter too. I think they would make a great pair."
With that, Yun Jinghan strutted away. Amy collected her boss' things and stood.
"Have a good day." Amy politely bid goodbye.
"Wait, is there a chance he will reconsider?" The man asked hesitantly.
Amy glanced at the direction of her boss before answering, "No."
Amy worked long enough with her boss to know that once Yun Mo had shown interest in this particular land, her boss would never buy it even though he was interested.
Defeated, the man sat down.
….
Someone waved in front of Luo Jingyi to get attention. Retracting her gaze from the book, she found Yun Jinghan's smiling face. Grabbing the chair opposite hers, he sat down.
Luo Jingyi meant to ask what he was doing here but when she saw Amy heading their way, it dawned on her that he was here for the business trip he mentioned.
Amy handed Yun Jinghan's mobile phone, bobbing her head slightly to Luo Jingyi on the process.
"You can take a rest for today." Yun Jinghan instructed Amy.
Amy's eyed widened in glee. "Thank you, boss."
And after saying that, Amy left.
"Have you eaten?" Luo Jingyi asked.
"No." He glanced up from his phone and told her.
After ordering for him, Luo Jingyi returned to reading her book.
"Sorry. I had to answer that. What brings you to Sanya?"
"Medical conference." She answered, setting the book aside.
"How long?"
"Three days."
He simply nodded. Luo Jingyi was uncomfortable because he never took away his gaze on her.
"How are things on your side?" She inquired to dispel the awkwardness she was feeling.
Shrugging his shoulders, he extended his hand to reach her glass and emptied its contents.
"You—that's my glass. " she protested seeing him use the straw she bit earlier.
"So what?"
"That's very—unhygienic."
"It's called sharing. Don't tell me you are thinking of other things?" Yun Jinghan gave her a quizzical look. Mirth was dancing in his eyes.
"What o-other things are you talking about?" She denied, sensing her face was hot. Just seconds earlier, she had the weirdest idea in her head.
"Okay! I shall grant your wish." In less than five seconds, he got up, lowered his head and gave her a peck on her lips.
