Chapter 15 - the book

As she enter the Library her mouth opened as she can't help herself but feel excitement. How many books was in here? The walls of the library was almost filled by the books. People barrowing books walks on the ladders place in the side of the bookshelves. In the middle there are long tables with chairs. The library is occupied by adventurers and some common folks in the town.

"Hello there dear" A woman came to her with a smile plastered on her face. She was tall and skinny with a pince-nez. She was in the age of somewhere thirty to forty.

"You seems to be new here. Am I right?" she said with gracefulness in her voice.

"Yes I am. I am looking for something that is about magic" She immediately asked her. The woman smiled,

"Another fellow who has interest with magic. There is only one book in the town about it." She said. "It is on this way. Follow me" She said and lead sera to the way to the book she told her.

"Books about magic is usually to be found in the capital. The book we got is only the compilations made by the man always got himself around magic. A man who is eager to know more about magic"

"He must be someone who is a genius then" she answered.

"Well, I don't know about that. Here it is" She said grabbing a book that is on the mini bookshelf place on the counter.

"By the way, where did all this books came from?" She asked from curiosity.

"Some adventurer write their stories and encounter in their journey. They even write how to deal with monsters and etc. some herbs and their uses. They give the information to us nor sometimes do they give us the book they made. And we sort it out here." she said "the Adventurer guild and Merchant Guild masters build this Library for the town. The Marquis approve for building such nice place. "

"I see" She said and look around again. She can't help but feel amaze.

"You can sit anywhere you like. But just don't make any sounds… Don't forget to return your book…"

She nod and smiled and proceed to an empty chair and sat. She opened the book she barrowed. It was old book with some page still intact. You can see that It was been taken care of it nicely.

"Okay… I hope there might be something that is worth to read and waste of time" She whispered to herself. She started reading the first passage written on the book.

After sitting for the wooden chair for an hour she felt her body gone stiff. She stretched and didn't take her eyes out of the book laid before her. She read it silently and more focus.

The book contain more things that she didn't expect to be. It was even written neatly…

She can't finish this in within one day. She wanted to ask it out and read it back to their rented home. However it might be impossible for it.

"Maybe I should try it before thinking that" she said to herself and went to the woman that approached her before.

"Did you find what you are looking for? Or it wasn't in there?" She asked about to reach for the book that she though she is already bringing it back.

"Well, It has the things that I need to learn. I just want to ask if I can barrow it and read it back home." She asked. She look at the woman smiled after hearing the respond.

"I see… you can take it. No one is barrowing that either" She said. Sera immediately responded to her from sudden abrupt reaction.

"I can't do that. After all it was the library property. Taking it would be like I robbed it from it" She exclaimed but maintain her low voice not to distract others.

The woman shakes her head.

"It was my late husband book though. He did everything for it. I didn't knew someone will have an interest to something unattainable. Or perhaps you are a magic caster?" She asked. Sera nodded as replied.

"Well then, take the book as a gift from me." She said and smiled.

"But… It was your late husband book. Isn't this something that is also important to you?"

"Than book is useless to me. I don't even use magic. No one in the town uses magic. Now take the chance to have it and be a better magic caster." She replied. Sera can't say no to it anymore. Its seems that the woman is gladly to give the book to her.

"Thank you very much for your kindness, Ma'am" She said. The woman only smiled at her and wave goodbye.

Going back to the rented home of theirs. She got in and found the two eating some fruits as they sat on the matted floor.

"Welcome home" Forest greeted her as she enter the room.

"Where did you go?" Euphora asked hastily as she spit the seed around somewhere on the floor.

"I went to the library to borrow some book." She replied and went to her room.

"Can you please cook something for us? I'm hungry or would you like me to go hunt some lively children out there" Euphora yelled.

Sera close her eyes and breath in and out some air, calming herself as she just got home and now she still had to look for this grown up demi human and a demon.

"Can't you two cook for yourselves?" She shouted back as she took off her cloak and other garment and change to something nice and clean. She went out and glared at Euphora. Her eyes went to the plate lay before the two and something black and weird was on the plate. She went to them and look at the plate on the floor.

"What is this? A poop?" She asked pointing three black thing on the plate.

"You are rude to call that a poop… that is a food" Forest replied.

"Yeah that is a food. Try tasting it" Euphora replied as she bite the fresh pulpy yellow fruit.

"Nah." She said and went to the kitchen to cook for something. She sigh, she closed her mouth and prepare the things she need for them.

The two awaited her for the lunch and tried to cook for themselves however they failed to made a proper cook. Forest don't even knew how to start a fire. Euphora knew how to start a fire it was too strong and made the meat on fire too. They thought it was normal for the meat to go on fire so they waited for the fire to die. However the meat become so black and almost inedible. They end up eating fruits.

She continue reading the book she found. After all, it contains something she still doesn't know about Magic. She completely don't know about it, she is ignorant and weak. After having a glimpse of it earlier.

Only those who have a strong mana core can hold two elements nor three. Magic is determined by the mana inside them. the stronger the mana core the more Element they can manage to control. However a mere human has only the ability to have one element due to their weak mana core.

After reading those phrases she began to remember that her father use to yield four elements at one time. Even she can yield five of it. Some questions began to float on her mind.

She turn the page and look for some things she didn't know yet.

At the last page her hands stopped.

There is a paper that fell on the book she grab it and opened it immediately without further delay. It was a magic circle. This kind of magic is already old fashion. How they can be activated anytime unlike magic that is created by chanting.

"What those this mean?" she asked herself. And look at the back of the paper.

She began to say the words on its back out loud and the magic circle activated. The letters on it shines and the paper burned as she holds it. She Watch it burn from the ground until it vanished and a thing showed up. It was a small box needed a key to be unlocked.

"What will I do with it?" She said to herself and examine the box carefully. The box was small and has gems embedded on it. It look like a box where jewelries are being put. maybe there is some jewelries inside of it.

Thinking of it made her eyes glisten. she tried to lockpicking it however she failed. She had to use the the original key to open the damn box.

"Well I'll it there for a while" She muttered and went back to the book. She lied down and continued reading the book.

It was all about basic magic elements.

some page of it was series of Skills and magic circle that is new to her.

from water element magic,

water element can control water from outside and produce water using their mana. extracting the energy into a water element and become its weapon.

Condensation of the water element lead it freeze. However that technique is only applicable to those who has a mana core that has a large quantity of energy store in it. Some nobles and royalties in the capital has able to do so.

one thing about water magic is also they can heal. they can clean up your wounds and even cleanse foreign things on your body.

Fire element Magic. It is one of the uncommon magic to be yield in the human continent. Only three of the nobles has able to yield it.

It was also hard to control, some of the fire yielding mages got themselves burn after trying control it very swiftly. However, Fire was the ability to set everything on fire. control fire from the outside force and if you are strong enough, you were able to become fire resistant human. -isn't that great? you can set your body on fire and walk around let everything surrounding you set ablaze-

Air element magic. controlling the air surrounding you and making the air that isn't part of you become yours. great magic caster who has a large quantity of mana is possible for them to change the weather that is if their range was wide enough to control all the air surrounding them. However no Human did tried but someone Have done it before I saw it from my very own eyes.

earth element magic. Is a magic that is uncommon too. They has the attributes to heal and control plants around them however it all limited when it comes for a human. you can extract your mana energy to a dirt and even extract it the ground and produce plants. Extracting your mana to the ground giving the soil a nutrients to produce some plants.

In the world, there is six elements. the two were the Light and Dark. However, the two elements is forbidden to the human kind due to it superiority. No one know what is the light magic does but dark magic was said that it control the death and etc. Necromancy was said to be part of it.

Sera closed the book and raised her hand.

"Pyre!" she exclaimed and a fire enveloped her hand. She always saw her father do this but she still clueless about that matter. If only her father thought her more about magic, she will be able to beat everything around her.

She sigh and shake shakes her hand to extinguished the fire.

A knocked on her door made her mind stop from thinking.

"Dinner... What's for dinner?" Euphora exclaimed from the outside. She frowned and jump from her bed an went to the door.

Again, for the meantime, she had to look for this grown up demi human and Demon like her own children who has no skills on cooking their own food.

How can they even survive out there?
