Lissy was looking at Tim with eyes full of tears. She intentionally made her face look more pitiful by controlling her sobs.
"I beg you Tim, I just don't want people to talk about me. I will do the same. I will not say anything about you marrying me or this baby as yours."
It was an easy request only if Tim will look at it from one side of the situation and that is on Lissy's perspective. Pam is not here until the next 6 months. He will not be admitting or denying anything. However this is clearly not fair for his wife. For some reasons he wants Lissy to lead a good life regardless of what she meant when she said coming out clean.
"I cannot promise you anything now. I am considering your request since we have nothing to do with each other anyway we don't need to be together or talk about things like this with other people. However, I need to get my wife's agreement on this. If she is not comfortable there is nothing I can do."
Lissy gritted her teeth as she covered her face. She continued to cry helplessly. If not for Li Bin's mother and sister, she would have not been in this situation.
She tried to compose her self, "alright, I hope you somehow convince her for the sake of my child's future. I will be forever grateful if you two can grant my request."
She sound earnest when she said this. Tim finds her situation unreal. Few months ago, he was offering her to be his wife. She could probably be carrying his child but she chose to leave him. In fact he almost asked her the same question, if she cannot accept him as her husband why did she even got pregnant with another man? What qualification does she has to question her of marrying so soon.
"Is he the father?"
Lissy was a bit surprised with this question as if he knew who she had relationship with. Instead of directly answering he just bowed her head. She is rather thinking of what to say than embarrassed.
"Never mind I just asked, why can't you talk this with him."
Since it would unlikely that Li Bin would come over, she decided to tell another lie. Clenching her fist she said, "because he raped me."
"What?" Tim was very surprised. The guy seemed to be nice, how can he do this to Lissy. He suddenly felt a little guilty. If somehow he managed to pull Lissy out of that Shanghai engagement in guise of marriage. She may not be in this situation. However if it did not happen then he may not have married Pam.
"Have you sought help from police? Why did you let him go away with this crime?"
"What will I report? That I was drugged and found my self in bed with one of the richest bachelors in Shanghai? Do you think they will believe me Tim?"
"There has to be way for him to pay for his sin!"
"Stop it Tim! Even the thought of being the center of gossip as single is already killing me inside, I will not be able to handle the fury of these Chinese people. He is someone known in Shanghai. I don't want to be in a mess I cannot remedy."
Tim could only sigh, "I will talk to my wife, I will let you know our decision."
Because of the explosive info he learned, it was very un-gentleman for him if she let her go alone. He was somehow worried of her state of mind after all it is not easy to admit being raped.
"I'll let the driver send you home. Take care." There is an assigned driver to Tim in the company. He rarely uses his services but when needed he can fulfill his duty.
"Thank you Tim. " She went out of the his room and put a glasses on to hide the redness of her eyes. She realized that the 'rape claim' softened his heart, it seems he will convince his wife to agree judging with his reaction.
Alone in his room, Tim realizes that he needs to properly talk to Pam. In the past days they had very limited to almost no interaction.
7PM at his apartment, Tim has changed into pajamas and white shirt. He sat on his bed with his back resting on the head board. He took his mobile phone and initiated a video call.
Pam was not picking up. He called once more, this time the call went through without video.
Pam saw that he was on his bed room. She intentionally did not turn on his video as he just changed clothes from quick evening bath.
"Hello!" She simple said.
"Hey why are you not in video? This is unfair!"
"I just put on my clothes and is combing my hair."
"I would love to see you putting on your clothes! I don't mind My Queen."
She finally put herself on video. "Why did you call?" Pam was not mindful of her question. He saw how the smile from his face disappeared.
"You are asking why I called? Is it necessary to ask?
Pam was caught! He lowered her gaze.
"Is there a problem here? Look at me Pam." He is indeed pissed because he called her with her name.
"What's the problem? Is there anything bothering you? You even have dark circles under eye." He can tell that her face is not just showing sadness but weariness.
It was so stupid of her to ask why he called, at the back of her mind he would like that Tim tells him about the situation.
"Are you going to stay like this? Not answering my question? Please talk!" He tried to make his voice sound gentle despite being pissed.
"I don't know what to say Tim..." she said helplessly. It was indeed difficult. How will she start? That she read the message? That she was thinking about this for almost a week now?
"Why? What is it? Tell me exactly why are you acting this way? A week ago you were sad that I had to leave. Now you start being silent and don't know what to say? Are you playing with me Pam? Come on I cannot guess tell me!"
God knows he wants to have a floo powder right now so he can just be transported instantly beside her and talk.
