Chapter 75 - Chapter 75 - Obsolete and Invalid Plan

"When did you marry? How did it happened?" Vince was very shocked with what Pam has announced. "Who is the guy?"

"Just early this morning, we had it at the City Hall." She kept her answer simple but true. She intentionally did not answer the last question. She feels like there is no need to say his name.

"Only this morning?" There was hint of helplessness from Vince. He was about to ask why were they not invited to the ceremony. Apparently it was just a civil wedding. There was striking pain his heart. This news is so sudden and thing happened abruptly.

"Our PMO Head is so low profile." Their CTO revealed. "So this is explains the reason why all the suitors in Singapore are rejected. Even that VP from bank client who sent flowers everyday at HQ had the same fate."

"Sir, don't put me so high up there." Pam said shyly with lips on half smile. "I was probably just one of those ladies they took a liking."

"So Ms. Cruz seems to be so popular to have many suitors rejected." Tim has joined, feeling proud and at the same time probing for information he never get to know until now.

The CTO continued with pride, "you know how Singapore is melting pot of different culture, name a nationality and likely she had one or two who pursued her."

"That is too much Sir, there were just few guys." Pam could never more shy with the compliments she gets.

"Do you not have plans of doing wedding ceremony? And who did you marry? Today's celebration includes wishes for your blissful married life!" This comment came from NextGen COO.

"Thank you Sir." Pam even bowed her head. This time she could not ignore the second time the question 'who she married' is asked.

"I married the only boyfriend I had from 7 years ago." She then took a sip of her wine.

It was witty to tell it's her boyfriend from 7 years ago. Now everyone is not asking the name as the person is someone likely not familiar to them.

"It must have been fate Pam. That guy from 7 years ago must be an outstanding man for a smart fine woman like you to marry," the executive added.

What Pam said made Tim's heart filled with love and happiness. He is the only man she had in her life. How can anyone be happier with that?

However there is something that bothers him. Hearing their COO asked Pam of the wedding ceremony was a slap on his face. For his selfish reasons he neglected one of every girl's dream, a beautiful marriage ceremony. He will definitely give her one in the future.

Vince face turned ugly. It was a bomb that was dropped in his face making things very awkward. He was not expecting Pam to get married nor be in a relationship hence he got the audacity to joke about it. His awkwardness was saved by the announcement of the short program that is signaled to start.

Vince returned to where Jim and Ronna is, he lost the enthusiasm to mingle with them. Pam sat with the other executives, to be exact she is sitting in the middle between Tim and their CTO.

As there was music, it's normal to talk with face near person's ear. Tim took the opportunity while getting seated to tell Pam, "good job Mrs Connor!"

Pam just smiled and even patted his arm. Other than those lines they kept things professional.

Tim is tempted to hug Pam earlier. It was so reassuring to hear what she said — marrying her only boyfriend from 7 years. God knows how he wanted to grab her hand now.

The long face did not escape Jim and Ronna. Vince was feeling down. Contrary to his bubbly personality and high spirit when he came, he looked depressed.

"Hey did you get bullied joining their conversation?" It was Ronna who asked, expected of her gossipy nature.

"No.."

"Why do you look so dejected then?"

It took a while before Vince responded. "Did you guys know that Pam is married?"

"What? When did this happen? We just had our drinking session last Wednesday. She never mentioned about getting married or being married. How did this happen?" Ronna fired successive questions with what she learned.

"She said she just got married today this morning over civil ceremony."

Jim and Ronna looked at each other meaningfully. Is this connected to what they saw earlier in the parking?

Jim has warned Ronna earlier so her next question did not divulge what they saw in the morning. "Did she say who she married?"

"She did not say the name, but she said it's her first boyfriend from 7 years ago." Vince related what he heard earlier which came directly from Pam.

Hearing this Ronna whispered to Jim, "Timothy doesn't seem to be that boyfriend from 7 years? They just met in this project...but earlier they were holding hands."

Jim whispered back, "it will completely make sense if they were in relationship 7 years ago unless this is a lie."

Vince continued to murmur you himself repeatedly, "she is married..."

"Are you fine Vince?" Ronna tried to snap Vince out of his trance:

"Yeah... no... I don't know. What was I doing all this time? How can someone from 7 years ago suddenly reappear and got her heart once more?"

"This is because you keep on playing the good friend role!" Ronna blurted our her assessment.

"That's non sense, if that guy from 7 years ago has captured her heart again, maybe that guy has never left Pam's heart!"

Jim's assessment is very logical. Even if Vince has not played the good friend role and went ahead pursuing Pam, the ending would be the same. He could have been rejected.

Vince has been relaxed with his plans to pursue Pam. It is true that she rejected several suitors in Singapore and this is one reason why he was reluctant. He also got hints that Pam is not interested in relationship. Who knows that the aloof Pam is actually waiting for an old flame to return. Just like that his plans became obsolete and invalid.
