Lissy came to know that Li Bin is the apple of the eye of the family. His siblings had their own businesses. All of them were schooled overseas and are successful. His elder brother and sister are both CEO of their respective businesses. Li Bin is future CEO of Xin Technologies. He is well doted in the family.
She was curious how the rich live their life in China. She read about their lifestyle and thought it was crazy, like an urban legend kind of story. However, she witnessed how luxurious their life can be. Without necessary flaunting, she only get to know that the restaurant they casually dined, TMSK was actually a European luxury restaurant. She was driven by different luxury cars by Li Bin around Shanghai. Although these were not limited edition cars but the varying models tells that it must have cost a fortune.
Although she has been exposed in some elite social circle back home, she is not exactly part of that circle. She can be classified as mid-class. She can't imagine the possibilities if she is given the opportunity.
The following day, they immediately had the initial meeting with the Taiwan prospect. It's the Xin Technology Taiwan, XTT. Li Bin has a stake in this company too however as a separate entity they must engage with the local team and go through the process. Li Bin is key to introducing NextGen in XTT.
Lissy made sure she puts on her best business outfit for today's meeting. First impression is important. She wore an all- off white dress suit, a pencil cut skirt that sits just below her knees and blazer on the same fabric. She looked very lovely and at the same time professional. When they entered the room the counterparts has just arrived as well.
The senior management of XTT is present and what strikes Lissy is the classic Chinese beauty in front of her. Contrary to what she is wearing, she wore all black dress suit with gray chiffon blouse inside. Her aura commands respect.
"Good morning Director Li. Welcome to XTT. It's a pleasure to have you here in the Taiwan."
The rest of the representation bowed to Li Bin. They shook hands and continued with business pleasantries. Because of Li Bin's stake in the company it was almost a sure deal. It is a matter of executing agreement over a contract. Lissy is surprised how eloquent the lady is. Her name happened to be Chu Mei Ling.
After the meeting, they decided to have a group lunch. Lissy noticed that Mei Ling and Bin were well acquainted with each other judging from the way they talk.
"How's everything is Shanghai?" Mei Ling softened a little compared to formal discussion earlier.
"All good Mei. You are running the Taiwan office too well." The way Li Bin addressed Mei Ling now did not escape Lissy. Calling her Mei sounded intimate.
When they finally settled for lunch the small discussion started.
Mei Ling started the small talk, "Lissy how long have you been with NextGen?"
"I have been with Meridian for 4 years prior to getting consolidated with NextGen." Lissy politely responded to Mei Ling.
"Do you mind if I ask how old are you?"
"I just turned 27."
"Wow so young and accomplished. Being sent to Shanghai by NextGen tells a lot how outstanding you are." Mei Ling was naturally nice and well educated.
"You flatter me Miss Chu, I am just an executive that rose from ranks." Lissy suddenly earned some confidence hearing the nice words from Mei Ling especially when Li Bin added.
"Totally agree with you Mei. Capable Beauty I would say."
Mei Ling smiled and teasingly said, "you are still a sweet talker Bin."
"Am I? But I was just stating facts. You are also one capable beauty. How come I never had this compliment when we were in university?"
Mei Ling laughed and continued, "are you single Lissy?"
Lissy just smiled, technically she is still single.
"Oops sorry for asking to personal question."
"No, its fine." In fact, she could readily say Yes or No however she choose to not directly answer but gave in. "I am still single, but I am seeing someone."
"Oh too bad…" She then smiled back to Bin.
"Why is it too bad? You are single yourself; we could be a good match." Bin joked. He is too comfortable with Mei Ling. They were friend since college and was regularly in touch even after they each took master's degree.
"Funny, I'll think about it. I reckon Auntie stopped pursuing that." Mei Ling even winked at Bin and then laughed.
"I just needed a chance. I missed it with you." He paused and continued with bitter smile in his face, "looks like I have missed another one. Every girl that capture my interest is either disinterested at me or is taken."
Mei Ling let out a laugh. In all honestly, she liked Bin however the idea of an arranged marriage for business benefits is something she abhors. She feels like she will never be short of guys pursuing her but Bin has never really made serious move. "Then make a good move!"
These exchanges made Lissy felt a bit nervous. Mei Ling and Bin seems to be closer than expected. In fact, they look good together. For some reasons Lissy felt threatened, it may sound crazy but she feels like holding on to Li Bin.
She further learned that Li Bin's mother was in agreement to arrange him with Mei Ling. Because Mei Ling family is also part of the elite society in Taiwan, they are a good match. However, their family is not as traditional as the other Chinese. They gave Mei Ling the free will to choose whoever she wants to marry. Mei Ling agreed to help on the Taiwan Office instead. Learning all these, Lissy felt a bit disadvantaged. Initially she thought, Xin Technologies in Taiwan is something she can 'work hard' to conquer.
'I am not sure if this kind of opportunity will come again. I need to establish my grounds with Xin Technologies and with Bin.' Lissy made the decision in her mind. The good news of getting the deal with XTT in Taiwan will be beneficial for NextGen. It will boost her value in the company. At the same time, she can push herself to earn a spot at Xin Technologies. Right now, she got the best access to the company – Li Bin.
