"Right, so the machine which can repair hearing and sight, what information can you tell us?" Lizbeth asked.
"The machine works off of light magic, powerful stuff, it sucks in ambient mana, which is a lot in hospitals, like wow, seriously." Mathew said.
"He seems to have a bit of a screw loose..." Mark mumbled.
"You are correct, I do! And there is a reason, but I can't tell you!" Mathew said. "Anyway, light magic, when used correctly, can heal any wound and even replace lost limbs!" Mathew explained.
"Right... Lizbeth are you sure we can believe what he says?" Mark asked.
"Unfortunately yes... He actually proved the existence of magic to me on several levels, the first being actual magic, another being technology, and well, you get the point..." Lizbeth said as she sighed.
"If you want one I can give you one with a limited number of uses, I can't give you a fully operational one either because the UN decided you would need a medical degree in order to legally operate unless you are me, so I am willing to give you one with limited uses instead, which should be acceptable when it comes to legal use." Mathew said.
"Why would they limit the use of the machine?" Mark asked.
"Something about a new technology a child made and how it 'can't be trusted' or something like that, but whatever, they're missing out on awesome things." Mathew responded with air quotes. "Honestly if the government just let me make what I want then our society would've already been in space..." Mathew said to himself.
"Right, so how do we get the machine and how many uses will it have?" Lizbeth asked.
"Three." Mathew said.
"Three?" Mark asked.
"Yes, in three days it will arrive and you will have three uses on the machine." Mathew said. "Is that all you needed from me?" Mathew asked.
"You seem to know more than you are letting on, how much do you truly know, not just about science, but about GOCRD?" Lizbeth asked.
"That one is... A secret. Everything happens for a reason, and I have many reasons for each of my actions, but maybe I will tell you one day, though it seems unlikely." Mathew said.
"What does th-" Lizbeth started to ask as Mathew disappeared in a puff of smoke. After a few minutes, Mark and Lizbeth were sitting on the couch drinking tea while thinking about what had just happened.
(5 hours later)
"We'll only have three uses, so we would have to use them sparingly... Obviously, once we get it we will use it so that leaves two other times." Mark said.
"Agreed. We should use it whenever necessary and no more than that." Lizbeth said. A door opened and closed and after a few seconds, Elizabeth walked down the hallway rubbing her right eye.
"I had a weird dream..." She said.
"What happened?" Lizbeth asked. Elizabeth paid close attention to the movements of Lizbeth's mouth.
"It felt real as if I was the person in the dream, but I know it wasn't me. Their hair was short and dark brown, unlike my hair which is long and light brown, though it has been fading to a new color..." Elizabeth said.
"What happened in the dream to make it so weird?" Mark asked.
"I was in a body I didn't recognize, and I couldn't control it, the body moved to cross the road and a car appeared... It hurt... I could feel the pain as if it was my own..." Elizabeth said as her voice became a little shaky. "There was a burning sensation and my vision, it wasn't dark but quite the opposite, it was bright, incredibly so." Elizabeth said as her eyes began to dart and look around the room.
"Why don't you come over here and sit, Lizziebear?" Mark asked. Elizabeth slowly walked over to a chair. Elizabeth sat down.
"Is it really possible to feel pain in a dream?" Elizabeth asked.
"It is possible, though rare. I am sure that if you believe you won't feel pain then you won't" Lizbeth said with a warm smile.
"It was scary..." Elizabeth said. "I couldn't control myself, it was like someone else was controlling me, stopping me from stopping myself..." Elizabeth said.
"How about we read you a book before you go to sleep again so you can be put at ease?" Mark asked.
"That sounds nice..." Elizabeth said. Mark stood up and picked up Elizabeth, then carried her to her room while Lizbeth chose a children's book.
(July 22, 2011, 14:39)
A knock was heard at the door. Mark opened it and saw a delivery truck and a man with a large box on a dolly. In the man's hand is a clipboard with paper on it. "Shipment for Mr. and Mrs. Bentley. Please sign here." The man said. Mark signed the paper and the man moved the box off of the dolly in front of the house.
The man walked away silently with the dolly and entered the delivery car, then drove off, the dolly in the passenger seat. "well that was strange..." Mark mumbled to himself. Mark tipped the box a little, then dragged it inside.
Once the box was inside, Mark looked at the delivery sticker to check what it is. Mark located the sticker and read where it was from. "Lizbeth! It's here!" Mark said. Lizbeth walked out of the kitchen and over to Mark.
"The machine?" Lizbeth asked.
"It appears so, it says it is from Draketech and is quite a large box." Mark said
"Alright, let's open the box and make sure that's what it is." Lizbeth said as she approached the box. Mark took out his multi-tool and used the knife to cut the tape. Lizbeth opened the box and saw a smaller box with a booklet on top of it with the words 'operation manual' on it.
