Chapter 37 - Death has Come for All

But of course, Michael would not charge into battle with his current skeleton form. It would be foolish to do so, considering that he had no idea what would happen if it was to be destroyed or maybe worse, severely cripple to the point that he could be taken as prisoner.

And as such, Michael reached out with his power to create a powerful undead for him personally. The undead would not be the same as those Abominations, as they were actually quite weak in comparison to the Death Knights even before they were twisted into Death Knights by his superior will.

No. His personal undead would be more like Window but mindless. He had no need for another exact copy of Window or close to it. It did not need to have a sense of self or individually.

In fact, the undead he wanted to create didn not even need to have any self-preservation either, as it only served as a meat suit for him to manipulate from afar.

And just like when Window was created, a massive magical array manifested above in the sky. A vortex of malicious energy began to form at the center, descending towards the ground and sucking in absurd amount of undead thanked to the overabundant of them close by.

Everyone noticed the magical array and the vortex, and they immediately call for help from within the Holy City itself, and perhaps, from the Sage Tower as well. Helps would not come before the formation of a new monster, however.

Once the vortex of deathly energy stopped sucking in all the sacrificial undead, it rapidly decreased in size and then condensed into a single entity. A new monster was about to be born, and there was no one to stop it.

The amount of evil and malice radiating from the monster had caused even the most veteran mages to freeze up. It was so intoxicating that they had to fortify their aura, preventing its malicious will and hatred for all living things from affecting their mind and will.

Sadly, the same could not be said for normal people, as they descend into madness and chaos, crying out for fear and pain. Some even take their own life before someone had put a stop to all of that with a powerful spell.

A Sage had arrived, and he had arrived too late. "What… this thing? A demon? No… it's… it's…"

"I am… Death!" the creature roared as the air rippled violently, blowing away everything and everyone in a hurricane of pure power. It managed to retain some of its sense of self despite Michael's attempts to fully eradicate the combined consciousnesses of the sacrificed undead.

There was simply too many minds and memories for Michael to fully crush. Some of those minds and memories bound to slip through the crack.

However, there were not too many, and therefore, it was an acceptable to Michael. He would subdue the rest in time.

Immediately, Michael took control of the monster, supressing its will with his own. And once Michael had done so, its aura took on a new form. A more terrifying form, as the very world itself quake in fear and terror.

This was because Michael now stand at the pinnacle of both might and magic. His creation was already the most unstoppable undead imaginable. Combining with his magic, who could stand up to him?

Michael could feel the incredible power coursing through his new body. While he was just possessing the body, he felt absolutely no resistance whatsoever. This was because the mind and will of the newly created creature was so weak to resist him.

He looked at his hand, feeling his magic gathering within his palm in the form of dense black mist. This was not exactly mana, but it could still be used in place of mana.

The mist condensed into a singularity before Michael flicked it towards the outer wall. The defenders on the wall was too slow to react, but the newly arrived Sage and his entourages immediately call out and summon a barrier.

"Holy Shield!"

A powerful Holy Shield erected and enclosed a section of the wall, but it wasn't nearly enough to stop the casual attack from Michael.

The singularity shattered the barrier and crashed against the wall. It expanded in an instant, and within the next moment, a huge section of the wall along with countless defenders was simply gone. Erased from existence.

Death Spell was incredibly hard to cast and wield, but to Michael, who was considered to be the Ruler of the Dead, it was easy as squashing an ant.

"You… you monster!" the Sage called out. "Go. Go and inform the others at the Tower. Hurry! Ah!"

The Sage was shocked as he was pulled from the sky towards Michael despite his defensive spells and wards. He tried to stop the rapid descend with several spells of his own, but they seemed to be highly ineffective.

"Die, you monster!" the Sage shouted and blasted Michael with a beam of Golden Light. It was called The Tear of Heaven, but Michael simply batted it away before grabbing the Sage by the throat.

"I remember you," Michael muttered in a cold dead tone. "You were there with Dalton, and you shall be there when Dalton meet his end."

"W…what?" the Sage uttered before his mind was assaulted. "Ugh! No… no… I will not… I will not fall!"

"Your will is strong, but mine is much stronger," Michael stated as he continued to dominate the Sage's mind with his own. Soon enough, the Sage's mind was crushed, and what remained was a puppet for him to control.

"Rise. Death Sage!"
