"Pluuusss .." she hedged, "Mi usually wake up early." Jordan shrugged her shoulders, shifted, and picked up her cell phone, intending on ignoring him.
Jared leaned down, elbows braced on the tabletop as he confronted her directly. "BULL~ SHIT." He spat and dragged the words through his lips separately as though they offended him.
"Whoa!" Jordan leaned back in the chair quickly, psalms raised and the cell phone thudded to the table "Oh Ma Gawd Jared! You're too clos-"
"You think mi no notice?" he retorted quickly, eyes narrowed as he cut her off, unfazed by the prickly reaction. "You really think mi don't si?" he continued staring into her eyes.
'Okay, what the heck is he on? What the heck is he on?!
But no morning breath, points! No, focus'.
Jordan shook her head in an attempt to disperse the unwanted thoughts. This is goofy-ass, hoe-ass Jared, come on!
"Uhm Jared, I don'-"
"Jordan," he leaned in even further, so close she could feel his hot breath caressing her skin. She shivered slightly as her breath caught in her throat. What is going on? She wondered in a daze. Her gaze roved his face and dropped to full, well-shaped lips. And ... oh was that a mole? She mused.
Thump!
That was definitely a mole.
Too, too close. She swallowed audibly and raised her arms to shove him away.
Clank!
At the sound, Jordan's head snapped towards the bathroom. Straining her neck, she peered over towards the door, ears cocked and once she could distinguish the sound of water running, she heaved a sigh of relief only to turn around to see Jared staring intensely, his large body blocking her escape route. He had his arms strategically placed on either side of the chair she was perched on, gripping the arms. With her attention diverted, he had effectively closed the distance and boxed her in. He had her trapped, she was prey, the sneak. Clearly, he came out with an agenda and she did not like it one bit.
"Jared! What the hell? Back up!" she whispered fiercely, glaring. She then proceeded to push against his hands and lightly smacked at his shoulders but he remained unmoved. In fact, he looked ... amused and seemed quite at home just leaning over her as she pounded away at him. A smirk hung at the corner of his lips as he stared openly, his gaze marked a trail from her thighs to her eyes where they came to rest. Realizing that her efforts were futile, Jordan stilled and kept her gaze firmly over his shoulder. She would rather bore a hole in the wall than face his stare head-on. The quiet joined them at the table.
Thump!
Thump!
THUMP!
No doubt, the water was still running in the bathroom but at that moment, all she could see was the rise and fall of Jared's chest as he took even breaths, the fine hairs on his arms, and ... No, no, no. Should we go there? We should not.
Jordan shifted and released a quiet breath. She brought her gaze back to Jared "Move."
Jared stared quietly, his eyes boring into hers.
"Whenever I have someone over, you're out here with your tea di morning after," he stated flatly.
"Mi notice."
"Now that's bs!" Jordan sniffed and covered her mouth to prevent a laugh from escaping.
"That's not aalll the time. You're exaggerating."
He shot her a look of disbelief, an eyebrow raised, "Am I?"
"Yes! Yeeesss!" she stressed. He absolutely cannot misunderstand. Really. She was not interested. Clearly. He was a whore. He was a whore!
"Well, what about dis morning? No, what about last month? Hmm? And the month before?" he plowed on as her face got darker and darker.
"Uh," words failed her. Jordan flushed with embarrassment. Ah, shit... He caught me. Her mind raced wildly, say something, anything! Anything at all, the voice urged desperately. Remember why you did this, walk of shame, WALK. OF. SHAME. Right, right.
"Hmm?" he prompted and leaned in even further bringing his bare chest into sharp focus.
"Uh", she shifted uneasily, "I just, just thought it was funny" She swallowed and went on weakly, "I like tea."
Uhhh so stupid, so stupid. She groaned internally and wanted to sink into the chair and just disappear but the reality of the situation remained steadfast. So, there she sat, eyes firmly on the ground, her figure forlorn and alone.
"Tea huh?" Jared straighten to his full height and glanced at the mug of tea, the only observer. It looked like she had only taken a few sips.
"I notice you drink that a lot, want me to make you some real breakfast next time?" he smirked. "You know, for your show?"
¬‿¬
Jordan's head snapped up. "Sir, mind your business."
"Yeah? I should be the one saying that." He suddenly dipped and whispered in her ear,
"But, I think I like you ... in my business."
He straightened his frame nonchalantly, his eyes unwavering.
Jordan frowned imperceptibly. Honestly, where was this confidence stemming from? She was positive she gave no indication that she was interested and she was not. She was just horny. It was hormones, nothing more, nothing less.
She was poised to refute his flirty remark but before she could, the bathroom door creaked open and a brown figure enshrouded in a thick blue towel came into view. Droplets of water were still clinging to her slim shoulders, her eyes were clear and her face bright and open. There was no sign of the embarrassment she displayed earlier. Did she rush in naked? Perhaps she rushed in naked, Jordan mused.
"Jared go bathe, we'll be late for class," a small voice stated rather quickly. Turning her head, the figure spotted Jordan sitting at the table and beamed, "Hi!"
Jordan soured inwardly. Well, this is no fun. Give me downcast eyes and shoulders drooped in shame! The reaction was completely out of her expectations and coupled with Jared's probing, the morning was ruined. It was time for her to exit stage left.
"Hello." She forced a smile and picked up the tepid mug of tea. Taking several gulps, she finished in a hurry and avoided Jared's knowing gaze as she headed into the cramped kitchen.
Inside, she quickly washed the mug and placed it in the dish drainer. Taking a moment to collect her shattered composure, she inhaled deep breaths and released them quietly.
Slam!
Jordan jolted, her eyes flew open and she turned to take a peek. It was Jared's door facing the bathroom. They had gone inside and were no longer in the living room.
Sighs
Ahem! Nothing happened, she reassured herself and nothing will.
Striding into the living room, she grabbed her phone off the table, entered her room, and her gaze collided with Shanique's who was fully awake and sitting on the edge of her bed, appearing ...too natural. Jordan realized she had not heard snoring from the room since Jared's entrance.
That look on her face...
No doubt about it, she had been eavesdropping.
The bitch.
