"Mom? Can you tell me about this letter?" I asked while we all dined with Matt by my side while I make sure he eats well but not a lot because he might get sick as his stomach is not that used to eating a lot of food.
I put the letter that I found in the attic on the table while pushing it towards mom so she can see clearly.
"Ah, well we have been invited to be there two weeks from now by the owner of the amusement park. The anonymous guy is gathering all of the people who like to go there and I don't know why but we'll go." Mom said like it's not a big deal because we always get invited to go there as we are part of the membership there but it's the first time that we had received a letter.
Both Kai and me looked at each other excitedly because we love the place. We actually grew up spending our summer there and we never get tired of the place.
The whole dinner consist of us talking about the times that we spend there and Matt is quiet the whole time but he laughs softly when we say something funny and that's good because at least he's taking his time with all of this. Kai was told by mom to clean the dishes while I clean the table and Matt never leaves my side while I cleaned.
"Sapphire? Do you want to sleep or watch a movie?" I asked as I finished cleaning while looking down at the small child.
"I want to sleep, is that okay?" He innocently asked while looking up at me. I nodded and smiled at him. I. picked him up from the ground and carried him all the way to my room.
"We have a spare room for you and we'll decorate it before you can sleep there but for now you'll be sleeping in my room." I said to him while he nodded.
Once we got inside my room, he lays down on the carpeted floor and I frowned at him. "Why are you laying down there?"
"So you can sleep nicely without me annoying you." He explained and I frowned deeper while I sat down on my bed.
"You'll sleep here, sapphire. The bed is big and if there's anyone who will have to sacrifice their backs from sleeping on the floor, that'll be me. Come here." I patted the bed with a soft smile, assuring him.
"Mmm kay." He said and he smiles at me while getting up and sitting beside me on the bed.
We eventually slept peacefully while he hugs me, comforting and warming himself with my body and the warm blanket that's wrapped around us but I woke up in the middle of the night when I had a nightmare similar to the strange happenings right now with the porcelain girl and Ace. They are both warning me about something but I didn't listen to them and now my life's in danger.
I looked at Matt beside me who is sleeping peacefully and I just caressed his hair while I slowly drifted again to sleep and this time, I haven't had a nightmare.
The next morning, mom told me to buy some clothes and things for Matt because he can't always wear the old clothes that I found in the attic. Matt decided to stay here because he said he wants to try to be around them while I'm gone and I am glad at the way he thinks. They all are in the living room, watching something while I head out of the house.
I drove away from the house, carefully, not wanting to encounter another person or animal again while I'm not concentrating on the road and being cautious of my surroundings. When I parked the car, a new number texted me, coincidentally, asked me if I wanted to go hang out at the mall because I am at the mall at the moment. I texted an ok and where do we meet while I get out of the car and I locked it, walking away towards the mall.
Ace responded back quickly and I go to wherever he is at while minding my own business and looking around me like a paranoid person because something might happen to me or someone might be staring at me creepily, and I don't want that at all. I'm tired of it all.
When I saw Ace, teenagers are checking him out like they haven't seen a person for a long time and I rolled my eyes at the sight. Ace is very attractive, he has changed a lot because when he was a kid, he was very thin, and no matter how much he eats he never gets fat. I couldn't lie to myself or to anyone by telling that I don't find him attractive at all but he's my friend and I know deep down inside he is still angry and hurt by me when I left him and I haven't tried to contact him ever since. I don't want to ruin our friendship by confessing to him that I liked him more than a friend and that's why I didn't contact him ever since we left the city because I had to forget about it because he doesn't really see me as anything rather than just his childhood friend. I know that and I'm sure of it because he's always with girls and he never really has the time for me and that hurt me too so I decided that I had to forget him or else nothing good will happen to me if I focused myself on things like that.
"Finally, I thought those teenagers will never stop." He told me while grinning as he approaches me.
I rolled my eyes again and I looked at him as if he was an idiot, to which, he actually kind of is. "Do you really think that they'll stop being creeps if I am by your side?"
He nodded with an innocent idiotic look that I wanted to smack off his face. "No, idiot! They'll never stop gawking at you even if I am with you because they obviously don't care just as long as they satisfy themselves and their wild fantasies with their eyes by staring at someone that they find attractive they'll always be creeps and will never stop being fools."
Ace suddenly starts laughing at my sudden outburst and he wraps his arm around my shoulders while his arm gets tighter around my shoulder that made me smack him on the face and I mockingly laughed at him too as he held his face in surprise.
"You really haven't changed, Lu. Come 'ere! I just wanted to hug you! Why don't you ever like physical contact with someone?" He wraps his arms around me again, pulling me into his toned and warm body but I couldn't let myself fall for him again or even get affected by his actions so I just pushed him away while chuckling.
"Then you must know that I will never ever like being close to someone." I told him and he just nodded with a small frown on his lips which made me think if I was being too harsh at him but I just brushed it off and grabbed his arm. "This will be the most of it." I dragged him with me and he just followed while chuckling at me.
"So? You're a mom now?" He asked while we walked slowly inside the department store and while I searched for clothes.
"Nah, I'm just an older caring sister." I said while I grab a pair of jeans that will surely fit Matt and I put it inside the cart that Ace is pushing.
"Well, you sure sound like one! I mean look at you, you're even buying him clothes and things like a mom would do but who is the father?" He wiggles his eyebrows but I just ignored him while I continue gathering clothes and picking and deciding which are the best for Matt.
"Why are you asking that, you idiot? Mom ordered me to buy since they are having a day off from work and she didn't wanna leave the house as she wants to spend her time with Sapphire, same with dad while my immature big brother is hanging out with his new friends somewhere."
"So you're the only matured and responsible? Heh, yeah right." He scoffs but I just ignored him again, not bothering to be affected by his words.
"Can I meet the kid?" He asks, finally saying something that makes sense, well...asking but that counts too.
"Yeah, sure. We can meet again tomorrow and I'll go out with hi-"
"No, I mean, like, if I can go to your house later?" I looked at him, not believing what he's asking but I immediately regretted it when I saw him bite his lower lip while waiting for my answer in anticipation. My eyes fall into his lips but I quickly looked away while pretending that I wasn't bothered by him at all.
"Later? I don't think you can." I lied through my teeth while avoiding any eye contact or just looking at him.
"Aw, really? Why do you turn me down every time?" He said like a kid with a playful frown and brows furrowed.
I just shrugged and continued walking like I knew nothing about it at all.
