Earth; Year 2091
In a heavily guarded facility stationed 83 miles north-west of Las Vegas; 12ft below ground is a wide room, surrounded by metallic walls, an 8ft tall gyroscope-like contraption is place in the center of the room. Thousands of cords and wires that are as thick as a person's thighs are connected to it. Several people in white coats are standing not far from it. Seemingly heavily discussing, while observing the contraption as it slowly operated. Then a door to the right of the room opened and in came in an old, white haired man with a long beard that was also wearing a lab coat. Slowly walking with his cane towards the center. Behind him was a ten man team of fully armored soldiers. As they approached, the group quieted down. One of them stepped forward and greeted the old man.
Scientist A: " Hello, head scientist Greg. The machine has been checked and is fully operational. Should we proceed with the final testing phase?"
Head scientist: " Very well. Let's all proceed to the command room" then he faced the armoured man beside him and said "Major Kyle, Prepare to engage".
The Major and his men, proceeded to stand right below the machine, while the group of scientist then made there way to a smaller room situated at the side. Inside they each took there seats in front of a large console. After settling in, they all had solemn expretions as began operating the so called machine. The gyroscope like machine began to turn faster, increasing it's speed as time goes on. The center of the machine began to gleam with light. The light grew stronger and bigger. It's center forming an orb of light, then a small explosion occurred in its center, before the light orb emitted air currents and turned into a small black hole.
Head scientist:"Good, all is proceeding well. Instruct the Major to lead his men in" said the old man as his eyes gleamed with anticipation. This was the sixth time they have tested this experiment and all six times they were successful. He was sure that after this, his work would finally be recognized.
As they received the instructions. The group of soldiers rushed out and entered the black hole, disappearing within it's darkness.
Head scientist: " Quickly! Establish a contact with the Majors team!" the old man bellowed. The other scientist rushed to contact the Major. After several tries, the call was answered.
The Major: "Over....er...Major Kyle.....port
.....HQ....report...." broken words were heard through the comm link, "we are....other side....
we have....to other side....can you hear?"
Head scientist:" Yes, Major. We hear you. Please turn on you optical cameras and report your situation".
The Major: "Roger..... current...in forest terrain.....No....contacts....Air has high....oxygen...breathable"
As he was speaking, the screens in the control room started receiving images that were sent by the Major. The more the scientist see the images, the more excited they became. This is what they were waiting for. What they have spent all their years of researching. The project that could possibly change the world: Space and Time Travel.
As they were on the midst of cheering, an alarm started ringing. The screens of there console flashed warning signs. The machine began to spew out sparks of electricity, creating a loud buzzing sound similar to a Tesla coil. The black hole began to distort.
Head scientist: With a looked of alarm he shouted" What is happening?! Why it is malfunctioning?! ", how could this be possible, they have successfully activated it before and made sure the machine was in perfect condition.
Scientist C: "It's overheating, Sir. The pressure coming from the other side of the portal is too strong" answered a middle age scientist.
The Head scientist was pensive. They were so close to achieving their goal. He cannot have any mishaps now. He commanded, "Order the Major and his team to come back. Buy them time and stabilized the machine as much as you can".
They rushed to get things done. As the soldiers come out of the black hole one by one, the cords and wire began to catch on fire. The flames were spreading too fast. The fire alarm began to ring and the sprinklers were activated.
Head scientist: As the last soldier got out he quickly shouted "Shut it down. Now!"
But it was already too late. The black hole began the grow and devour the machine that was holding it. Late that night. A powerful explosion occurred 83 miles north-west of Las Vegas. A beam of light shot up to the sky, illuminating the dark. It sent out ripples of light wave spreading through the night sky.
That very night, the world change.
