Hello! It's been a while hasn't it? Well let's just get a move on shall we.
After arriving at the location of the harbour town the scent of salt drifts in the air reminding me of the times I had jobs at costal towns in my old life.
The forests the run along side the beach and cliffs is just like that of the capital city. They are very tall and would grant large wood yields to use for furniture and various other things. I may also even be able to start the production on the navy and or country owned trade vessels. I'm actually getting quite excited.
For now I'll need to clear the trees out of a large area to be able to start the building of the town. I'll only really need one gate entrance in and out of the city so I'll place it facing towards the capital with is now located to the west. This will also make it slightly easier for merchants to travel and the military patrols. They won't have to transverse a long winding roads.
Opening my territory management screen a detailed map of the surroundings open in front of me. I'll plan out an area that I will build the town at. Firstly I put a box outline of an area that will only be visible to me to help make my construction easier. I had discovered this function when I was playing about with it when I was on Sylvie's back riding here.
Setting down the plan I had asked Sylvie to start cutting down the trees in a certain area by using her water and ice magic. She quickly made many ice and water blades and threw them at the trees. Now usually these spells would only slightly damage the trees, however this is Sylvie we're talking about. As soon as the water and ice blades made contact they severed the trees from the bottoms and hit the next tree behind them. Quite impressive to be honest.
Anyways leaving Sylvie to deforestation I started work on the underground sewer systems and anything else that would be underground. I did this for a few reasons rather than just building the walls straight away much like I did with the capital.
The reasons are that I wish to use the dug out material to help with the construction. Now although I don't have to the mana cost would be reduced by quite a bit. When I was building the capital I had an entire mountains worth of material being used and unfortunately I don't have a mountain I can use here. Not only would I gain materials to help doing this I can also use these systems to act as a grid system for when I start to build above ground.
The sewer system will actually connect to the one at the capital because it already has a smooth working system. The road that will connect the two cities will have the sewer system follow it underneath. It shouldn't cause any problems and until the day comes when we can make a better sustainable system this will work.
The water pipes and so on will work in the same way and I will connect the two cities with larger versions of the pipes to better connect the water systems. I will also create a large underground water storage area in the event that water starts to decrease for any reason.
Once the construction is set off I'll start with the roads to better make a grid system with the underground sewer systems. I'll make the layout of the town with efficiency and comfort kept in mind for the citizens and merchants. I'll also have to keep in mind where I'm going to put the adventurers guild, merchants guild, school, medical facilities, and so on. Not to mention where I am going to put the noble district where the vampire noble I'm going to assign to this city.
I'll have to make their house fairly big to get the point across that we are a powerful and rich nation. I know it may sound weird but if you walk into an area where there are large houses your first thought is that 'wow these people must be rich' right? With many merchants coming here in the future this may convince them that taking the trip over here may be worth it if they can sell their goods in a economically powerful nation. Especially so for those that deal with nobles.
Once Sylvie is finished which shouldn't take too much longer I'll start with the walls and the gate. Much like the capital I will have to make them quite tall and thick to stop magical beasts from destroying them. It will also make the town look more larger and even more of an awe inspiring sight when people see it on the horizon.
At the walls there will be defences put in place like ballista turrets and facing towards the ocean are the same thing with possibly be added with the addition of catapults in the event that an enemy nation attacks with there navy.
Once I had set out the plan for the walls and gate I moved onto the buildings inside of the walls. I had already thought up of a plan for all the additional buildings like the adventures guild so I will only need to place the plan down and start construction. Because this isn't the capital I will make these buildings slightly less advanced I guess you could say than those of the capital. This is mainly so if this town is attacked it won't be as devastating compared to that if the capital was attacked. It's also to hopefully make people, mainly the merchants, want to travel to the capital because of its more advanced facilities. Now I don't know if this would work or not but let's see shall we?
The new town will have some districts like that of the capital but there won't be too many. I will add a noble district and a commoner district. The noble district much like the capital will be enclosed off by its own set of walls and gates. This district will be placed on the hills on the south part of the town where the terrain starts to form cliffs at the sea front.
The commoner district will be the main part of the town and I will allow free reign over what the citizens wish to do. If they wish to make a pub I won't stop them. There isn't going to be a residential or commerce district for this town. There won't be much industry in this town and if there is it will all be placed by the harbour so it shouldn't cause too many problems.
I will of course regulate or have people to regulate what people can make. When I said they had free reign over what they wanted to do they must first register it either with the merchants guild or at one of the government buildings. They will then say what it is they are going to do. This of course is to make sure that things like brothels don't start to sprout up. This is because the government workers who will be vampires will more than likely know if a certain building as changed shape to accommodate for residences and or business work. That's because houses are designed to only house a family of 2 adults and up to 4 children. So if more than 6 adults have to work and sleep there we will know about it, or at least I hope so anyway.
Now with all the plans in place and Sylvie pretty much completing what she was doing I'll start the construction. Pressing the confirmation button on the screen slowly everything started to build up. If I'm right it will probably take a 2-3 weeks to complete.
All that's left is to build the road and attach the underground systems to the capital and all should be good. I won't bore you with connecting the roads so I'll see you next time when I've done so. I guess I'll see you all later bye for now!
