Chapter 7 - New Identity

Puratynt A was a prosperous planet, but in some cities the difference in prosperity was stark. One such megacity was an industrial hub called Bior which could almost be called a slum. A few extremely rich miners here controlled most of the very poor underclass in this city.

In a shady slum area of Bior, a young man in a hood stood by the corner of a street, looking at the unassuming shop on the opposing side. HE had been contemplating the validity of the information he had received. The young man was Red.

After getting dropped off on Bior by Elly's crew on request, Red had been laying low. When he had arrived he was worried that the dna testing would flag his identity as a resident of the sister planet which was now a topic of galactic speculation, however, his dna had surprisingly changed and he wasn't flagged at all.

Once he had finally left the information blockade, he found out how big of a matter he was involved in. All around people were wondering if this was a new weapon of mass destruction, planetary apocalypse or a mysterious phenomenon that had occurred. Over time it was discovered that humans on the planet had ceased to exist, the planet had become impenetrable due to its ferocious climate and the resources on it were incredibly exotic new stable heavy elements not discovered before. Anything else about the planet had been deemed classified and after the initial rush to send youth to scout the area, looking at the findings, this was called off and professional armies were sent in.

But when five regiments simply disappeared after ending up on the planet, the galactic confederation declared the planet to be a ruin and sealed it off from interaction. The planet had become a subject of research by the galactic confederation, it was rumored.

All this had made it even more imperative that Red obtain a new identity. One that ensures that he has no connection to this incident whatsoever. He had no desire to be sealed up as a lab rat. After making discreet inquiries, he found out about this shop, where he could obtain a fake identification. Slowly he entered the shop and looked at the owner, who seemed to be playing a game on his holographic device. Looking at the new customer the shop owner looked up, but soon went back to his game.

"What do you need?" He asked disinterestedly. "Something the streets say you specialize in." Red answered. The shop owner was amused. "Aren't you too young for this kind of stuff boy? You want to become a pirate already?" Red remained passive and did not respond for a bit before he took a look around the shop as if looking for items to purchase, but actually he had strained his perceptive capabilities to observe if there were any cameras recording.

"Need a tour to another low tier star system out of this kingdom. The where doesn't matter. Also I need an identification that says I was born there." Red said slowly and methodically. He had reached a level with Pure Mind Threading of the fifth thread, where he could actually notice subtle signs of the owner. Perspiration, his breath, his heart rate as well as his gulping to deduce the likelihood of him being trustworthy for this business before he opened his mouth.

The shop owner was surprised at the request and didn't try to hide it. "Identity for another country will be expensive and the smuggling would be via a pirate ship. It will cost you this much." He said as he displayed the amount through his holographic device. "Do you have the dough?"

Red didn't say anything, he simply took out a card and tossed it to the shopkeeper. He had found a lot of bank cards on Puratynt B in Almos city which would be left forever unused. Most of those cards could probably not be used without alerting authorities, but he had found a lot of blank cards. Blank cards were tied to accounts with no identity or location and could be used throughout the galaxy. As such they were untraceable and Red wasn't worried about using them.

The shopkeeper nodded. "I am making you a citizen of Redmond Star, a lone habitable planet system in the Lorale Trading Block. A ship to the capital of this kingdom will come in three days to pick up cargo, you'll have to be stuffed inside it for a few days before the ship is raided by pirates."

When Red heard that he was surprised. "You are going to organize a pirate raid for this?" Hearing that the shopkeeper laughed. "You are a funny kid. Pirate raids are all planned before hand. Many government employees are involved, after all, they want their cut too. You will just be an additional cargo they will carry. However, they are pirates. I can't guarantee you any safe passage, but the identification will be secure and untraceable."

Three days later. Red was stuffed inside a cargo container and tossed onto a cargo ship. He had brought with him enough supplies to last him a week inside the container, before the pirates made their way to capture the ship. With nothing else to do, Red sat down to practice Pure Mind Threading.

Pure Mind Threading was a very elementary skill, but it was also very difficult to train. Most people couldn't train it beyond the third thread. It basically consisted of concentrating on a thought and allowing the idea to flow in a certain manner inside the imagination. Doing this created an energy flow within the brain's chemical pathways that slowly strengthened the brains capabilities. Each level consisted of creating a thought thread. When this thread was formed completely, the brain would suddenly experience the unlocking of its capabilities.

Red had already formed the fifth thread. He wasn't sure why his talent at this skill had suddenly risen, but it had to do with the mystery of Puratynt B. After the fifth thread, Red had been at a bottleneck and couldn't seem to progress any further. As far as the history of this skill was known, five threads was known to be the historic peak that this skill could obtain. Threading was considered an elementary skill and after achieving the third thread, people would usually transition to advanced mental skills, but Red wasn't in possession of any. Thus he continued practicing Pure Mind Threading until he received another skill.
