Chapter 8 - Exactly My Chair

Before she could flip him to the ground Daemon already caught both her hands and placed both behind her back. The position almost made her choke on the closeness of his face. She looked away feeling defeated. 'This man is really strong.' She thought.

"Good girl. Now just do what Mr. Stone orders and everything will be fine. Understood?"

"Don't you dare threaten me." she hissed between her teeth as she quickly gazed at him sharply which almost brought her to kiss him.

He looked amused at her stubbornness. He pushed her backwards slowly, his eyes narrowing. When her back reached the edge of the table, he still didn't stop as he slowly inched his face toward hers. "I... am... not... that patient Maia." He emphasized every word with a growing anger in his tone. He only stopped when Maia turned to look away again and cursed under her breath.

"Fine. Do I have any choice?"

Her face flushed red and her heart was beating wildly, unfamiliar with the situation she is in.

Three black cars approached the gate of the Stone's Villa in the afternoon. Men in black suits posing as bodyguards alighted from the first and last car. A few seconds later, the middle car's doors opened and a slender woman clad in gray long sleeves and black pencil skirt went out. She adjusted her black rimmed glasses and swept her wavy black hair from her left shoulder to the right.

She looked calm and collected but her heart said otherwise. It has been wildly disturbed since she left the office with Daemon. She even forgot his presence in front of her while she was in the car. 'How will I get out of this situation?' she thought. She let go an exasperated sigh as she massaged her temples while entering the double doors of the large house.

"Good evening Miss Maia." The helpers greeted her as she passed by. Of course they know her. She was Mrs. Stone's secretary. Wherever the chubby woman was, she followed suit. But now, all the helpers have one question in their mind. Now that Mrs. Stone is gone, who will Maia be following?

Daemon glanced over his shoulder to see if Maia is behind them, "Study," he said. "I'll follow later." He went directly to the kitchen and all the other guards dispersed around her. She stopped in her tracks and looked at the second floor of the Villa where the twin staircase leads. The study is located at the left wing of the Villa at the second floor.

"Maia, take a grip. You have to face this dilemma somehow sometime." She calmed her beating heart as she took slow steps towards what she sees as her impending doom.

"What are you still doing standing there?" She didn't notice that she has reached the end of the stairs and stopped walking. She saw Daemon beside her. He held her elbow and started pulling her gently towards the study.

"So, you know." her voice was steady, her eyes. hidden through her glasses. She looked directly at the man sitting in a chair in front of the floor-to-ceiling window of the study. It holds a magnificent view of the garden below with roses and greens blooming. "I did. I have known since I married her." His lips twitched but his smile was, indifferent. The room exuded with a sad aura.

"What do you plan on doing now?" she asked bravely.

The door opened. Heavy footsteps entered the room. He briskly walked towards Mr. Stone while Maia was watching his every move. He whispered something in Mr. Stone's ear. "Are you sure?" she heard Mr. Stone asked.

Daemon nodded.

Mr. Stone left the room while eyeing Maia. Daemon walked to the chair in the study table and sat. Maia gaped at him. "Why are you sitting on his chair?"

"Whose chair?" He was rummaging through the papers on the table as if looking for something not paying Maia any mind.

"That is Mr. Stone's chair!" She whispered loudly. He snickered then looked at her.

"Exactly... my chair."
