Chapter 88 - Lost

A warm breeze flew at my face as I simply just stared at the green fields that stretched on for miles. I had no intention of moving. I just, simply, stared.

The few trees around me swayed a little as a few leaves flew with the wind. The grass swayed as well, as if they were dancing along with the trees.

The sky was like an ocean miles above me, not a single cloud in sight. And the bright sun was its usual pretty color.

A bright blue circle placed right in the middle of a sea of golden yellow.

"This doesn't feel right," I said to myself. "This is probably a dream."

"I wouldn't call this a dream."

I turned to where the voice came from and saw a girl with Snow White hair standing just a few meters away from me. Her dress was a light blue and was completely see-through. Her eyes had a gorgeous blue that could hypnotize practically anyone.

The only problem was that half of the top of her head was completely caved in. Blood endlessly poured down on one half of her face, but it never dropped any lower than that.

"What's up with the dress?" I asked.

Apparently, that's what I'm more concerned about. Well, this is only a dream after all.

"It's the same one I wore that day," she said. "You said you liked it."

"Highly doubt it," I said. "I've never met you a day in my life. Now, do me a favor and leave so that I can wake up. I need to help some of my friends."

I don't need to get mixed up in another conundrum.

"Even if I go, this won't be the last time we meet." The girl said.

"Why's that?"

"We've had this connection for a long time now. It's been deactivated for some reason, but you reopened it after gaining some sort of strong power that isn't bound by the rules of the game."

"Rules of the game? You mean the game between the Gods and the Demons?"

She nodded.

I can figure that one out. It's because of Wrath. I mean, we share the same power after all.

"It is not because of the Sin of Wrath." The girl suddenly said.

"Why do you say that?" I asked.

"That is for you to figure out on your own. You see, the reason that our connection even exists is because you have an interest in me. If I were to tell you everything, then I'd be risking the interest that you have for me. You might disregard my story as nonsense and forget that I even existed. Therefore, I cannot tell you."

"I never even knew that you existed in the first place though. So how is it that you're even here if my interest in you is what keeps you going?"

"It's your uneasiness. That awkward you feeling you get when you feel that something isn't right. Like something is missing. Like everything feels too simple to work in a complex universe such as this."

Who is this girl?

"You should know that this isn't my present body," the girl continued. "This is my original form. The form that I had before I died. My present me is a reincarnation of another body. I cannot discover who my present self is unless that present self discovers who I am and accepts me as themself."

"So you're saying that you're all of the thoughts, emotions, and feelings of your past self who's lost?" I asked.

"I am that past self. She, who is that present self, doesn't remember who I am and I don't recognize who she is. I can only hope that one day, she'll acquire the power to remember me."

"Isn't that hoping for too much though?"

"At first it was, but now it isn't. With your new power, you can fix everything."

My new power?

"Is this power my own, and not Wrath's?" I asked.

"Yes. It is your power and yours alone."

She paused for a moment, as if to think carefully about her next words.

"I cannot tell you everything," she eventually said. "I can, however, say a few things. I want you to remember that you and I are the same. We are both products of the Early Universe Project. And we've both been reincarnated more than once."

After giving her brief information, she disappeared for good.

Early Universe Project? Reincarnated more than once? Wait, I was reincarnated? I thought I was teleported to that world.

I grabbed a bit of my hair and looked at it. It was black.

Yeah, I'm still the same. My hair the same color. The same color that it's always been.

The same color that it's...always been?
