Pain. Lonely. Scared. Worthless. Weak. Pathetic. Desperate. Needy. Insecure. Anger. Miserable...
...hopeless...
CHINK!
The sound of rattling chains woke me up from the words that described the details of my life. When I opened my eyes, I could barely see the outline of another person with their hands wrapped in chains above their head. The darkness around us felt cold and evil. I could see a closed door a few feet to the left of me because there was a dimly lit light source illuminating from the outlines of the doorway.
From what I could see, I, as well as whoever this person who is with me is, was being kept in some kind of torture or prison room.
CLICK!
The sound of the lock being opened on the other side of the door startled me as well as the person with me. The door swung open menacingly and revealed the one person that is responsible for bringing me here in the first place. Gleam.
"Would you please tell me what exactly you're thinking right now Hiro?" Gleam asked me.
"I'm thinking...does Shana know about this?" I said.
"Wow, I wasn't expecting that, but if you really want to know then yes. She is a part of this as well."
I forgot how much betrayals hurt.
"Why did you strike me like that," I asked her. "Why was Leonna in a town full of demons? Why do you have me chained up like this?"
"I guess I should start from the beginning then," Gleam said. "I should probably sit down with you."
Gleam sat down a few feet away from me, facing me.
"The real truth will bow be spoken, so please be sure to pay close attention."
The story that she told...was a story that I was not at all prepared to hear.
Since the beginning of time, the Heavens were ruled by gods and the Underworld was ruled by demons. The gods had one king that ruled everything. He was known as The Headmaster. The demons were ruled by the kind of demons or also known as Devil.
The heavens had a council of ten gods known as the Ten Commandments, and the demons had a council of seven demons known as the Seven Deadly Sins. The heavens and the Underworld looked over and controlled many worlds. They created different kinds of people and even played a chess-like game using the worlds as settings and the people they created as their pawns.
A very popular game that they liked to play was a game that involved someone getting teleported from one world to another.
The Heavens and the Underworld have spent an eternity just having fun with each other and accepting their differences; however, that all had to change eventually.
One day, one of the Seven Deadly Sins spotted a lonely young girl stuck in a deep hole in the ground. None of the gods noticed her, so none of them sent the girl any blessings or miracles; the demons could only send karma, so the sin decided to descend into the world and help the young girl.
The sin didn't know that he would end up spending so much of his time with this girl. Over the many years that they spent together, the young girl grew up to be a beautiful woman. The sin spent all of his life in the Underworld, so he didn't know the true beauty of a created being until now.
Playing eventually led to flirting, which led to kissing, then first times, then a marriage proposal, then their first child.
Their life felt picture perfect, full of love, laughter, fun, and life. It felt like a true dream come true. But of course, dreams always have to come with nightmares.
A god from heaven knew about the woman and the sin's secret relationship, and he grew jealous of their happiness. He was a young god, so he didn't know what the rules were.
Therefore, his foolishness led him to believe that there was only one way to punish the sin: death.
Word spread about the murder of one of the sins and the demons of the Underworld grew furious with the gods. The gods did whatever they could to calm the situation, but a demon acted on his own and killed a god. This back and fourth eventually led to an all out war between the gods of the Heavens and the demons of the Underworld.
After millions of years of bloodshed, tears, and slaughter, the Headmaster and Devil came to an agreement of destroying the bridge that connected the two dimensions together. That, however, didn't stop either side as they both found ways to enter each other's domain, and that was by crossing through the millions upon millions of worlds that they all built together. The endless war even started to have an effect on other worlds as well. In every world, the cities and countries within them would start a fight which would lead to a bloody war between them.
The war even led the Seven, six now, Deadly Sins to break up into two groups. One group consisted of four and was for leading the demons back into the fight against the gods, and the other consisted of two and was for a peaceful ending. The group of four went out to find allies from different worlds to use for the fight and the group of two went out to find and convince gods that they were protesting peacefully.
However, through all of the crazy things that were happening, the woman that lost her husband was plotting a revenge plan against the gods who had left her behind her entire life. Her daughter, who had demon blood in her, was also the new seventh sin. She had the powers of the sin and the woman used her to keep her age as well as gain extraordinary powers. The woman showed off her powers to the people around her and convinced them that she was the god of their world.
Even with her deranged way of thinking, the woman still did whatever she could to spend every minute she had with her daughter...whose name was Shana.
"...and that's how this all started." Gleam said, finishing the rest of her story.
"So this all started because a god killed your lover," I asked, completely blown away by the truth. "If that's what happened, then what does this have to do with me?"
Gleam pulled her sword out of the scabbard attached to her waist.
"Do you see this sword," she asked me. "This sword...is actually a Sin."
A Sin?
"The Seven Deadly Sins were forged beings that could turn into swords. They were created by the Devil himself. These swords have the ability to grant extraordinary powers and even talk to its wielder. So tell me Hiro...does your sword talk to you?"
No way. This can't be real. If what she's saying is true, then I'm...
"That's right Hiro," Gleam said s if reading my mind. "What you're wielding right now is a sin."
"...But...how...?" I stuttered.
"It would be meaningless to explain it to you. All you should know is that I need to have the power of all of the sins if I want to accomplish my goal."
"What exactly is your goal?" I asked.
"Didn't you pay attention to the story Hiro? I already made it clear. I'm going...to destroy the gods.
