"I don't have a lot of time so listen closely, Head East thats where your fate lies, head to the place that has been lost but can still be found and find the heart of Constella." Vera said with difficulty.
"What do you mean, place lost but can still be found, are you serious right now?" Curtis asked "Just get straight to the point!"
"I cannot, I may be a deity but I cannot tempt fate again, I have already paid a price for it twice. Once more and I may cease to exist." She answered.
Curtis frowned, trying to think up of a way to bypass this problem, but before he could form an idea Vera dropped a bomb on him.
"I need to leave for a while, fate demands I pay my dues. Chaos will rule this place for a while, I need you to take it back from them, your path is already laid out for you, just follow it."
Curtis' jaw dropped if he ever had one in this place, confusion and worry rampaging through his mind.
"I can't do that right now, I'm just 8!" he answered back.
"And I believe you, that's why you just need to hold things in place for now until you get stronger. You can do it" Vera answered pushing Curtis out back into the mortal world. "Goodbye child." she said.
...
"No! You can't do this!" Curtis lashed out, only to see Esbern rushing to him and Millie groggily getting up, Curtis was sweating and looking a bit pale.
"What happened, are you Ok?" Esbern asked, while keeping watch he was beginning to feel sleepy so his master's sudden outburst knocked the lights back into him.
"It's fine, I was just dreaming." Curtis answered, a bit livid about the responsibility dropped onto him. "Get some rest Esbern, I'll take watch for a bit, it's close to morning anyway." Esbern was hesitating to answer as he did feel a bit winded and definitely needed some rest. "No buts, you already have one of your eyes closed, I got this." to which he got a tired ok.
Looking at the position of the moon, daylight was just a few hours away and the strength boost he got earlier meant that he could easily take over some duties to relieve some stress on his two companions.
Finally getting some time to sort out everything that was dumped onto him. First, he needed to get strong quickly. Second, to find out what happened to his family. Third, find out where his siblings are. Fourth, decipher the book he found in that room. Fifth, save his family if he can. and Lastly, sixth, if he can ever get around to doing it, find that lady meant by Chaos is coming.
Is Chaos related to those who got my father jailed? and to those who attacked my home? Questions upon questions piled onto his mind, like how is he even gonna train his power, he can't even activate it right now. But an answer came to his mind, The Book! The book father reads to me, he didn't really let me hold it, but it looked old, as old as the book I found in the tunnels, maybe. But how can I get it? The house was burning when we left.
A headache was coming his way he could feel it.
"Master?" Curtis' thoughts were interrupted when he heard a voice call out to him, looking to his side he saw Millie approaching with a coat. "It's cold, you might get sick." She advised, covering him with the coat.
"Sleep for a bit more, I know you're tired." Curtis countered getting a sly look from Millie. "Why are you always so calm?" She asked, "As a noble I need to always think of the bigger picture." he answered dutifully, even pumping out his chest to look convincing.
Sneaking a peek at Millie she was staring at him with those bright emerald eyes, quite unconvinced by his answer. "Father instilled in me that I need to keep a cool head always." Curtis started to sweat, "Okay it was Miss Sherry." he stated, "At least that got Millie to back off for now" he thought to himself.
"Go back to sleep, I'll wake you when we're leaving." he declared, still trying to act tough.
"I miss them." Millie said, out of the blue.
"Me too."
"I just wish we had time to say goodbye." Millie came behind Curtis and gave him a hug. "I really miss them." she whispered sadly. If anything that at least got some stuff out of her chest, and if the wet feeling that was starting to spread out from his back meant anything, he should just stay still.
