Chereads / Fear the Night / Chapter 103 - The arena

Chapter 103 - The arena

Rosch and the rest were still in bed, when at the Nightwalker City the beaten army of Zeke came back from their campaign.

The guards were shocked, as they saw that less than one fourth of the army was left. They never lost so baldy, not even against the northern tribes.

Zeke went forward fast towards the biggest building, which was still under construction. But almost finished.

He went inside through the main hall and right up till he stood in front of a door.

It was the private chamber of his father, the Nightwalker chief.

Zeke looked annoyed.

"Again? Always the same shit. He doesn't do anything anymore, only fucking that Daywalker.", Zeke thought as he heard the slapping of flesh and panting of an older male.

Zeke went in and saw a huge black body pounding down on a small and delicate female body. Even Zeke was mesmerized by her snowy white skin and crystal bluish like hair. She was Aria's mother, Alischa.

But like always, she didn't moan or react. She looked like a lifeless doll.

"Shit, she is truly beautiful. But my father is trapped by her beauty. He is only doing her more and more. I won't fall like him. I will have my time and take over this City.", Zeke thought, but didn't show any ambition. He tried to look self blamingly and hurt.

" Father, we came back from the war with the Goblins.", Zeke said, trying to sound defeated.

He was cold and didn't have any kind of emotional connection towards anyone. But he learned since a long time ago, when he was still a child, on how to react to certain events.

The Nightwalker chief finished, as he twitched. He looked back at his son with a smile.

"Why do you look, as if you guys lost?", Zeke's father asked. He just couldn't believe that they would lose against mere Goblins.

But after Zeke started to explain what happened, the face of the Nightwalker chief changed more and more.

Zeke told him about the weapons the Goblins used, how many mixed races their were and so on. That they were far from the normal Goblins they knew.

"Father, we completely underestimated them. If we had provisions and were prepared as if we would have fought against the northern tribes, we would have probably won, but still with many casualties. They have gotten Elves under them, too and a new Alpha emerged.", Zeke said angrily. This was the first emotion that truly came from his inner most. Just thinking again that he couldn't take at least Rosch down annoyed Zeke immensely.

The Nightwalker chief was angry at first for his son's incompetence, but after he heard that another Alpha emerged, everything changed.

"Th... That.... Shit again. How was he? Is he a threat? We can't let the same shit happen again. You were small and don't remember, but another Alpha like the King of the south is to dangerous. Fuck. We are already in a war with the northern tribes. The losses right now are already to much. We should have never gone south. Now we have to do something about the north and than the south. SHIT.", the Nightwalker chief said a bit self blamingly. He just thought that they would fight mere Goblins with some mixed ones, not an entire village with an abundance of stronger mixed Goblin warriors.

" He was very young and already very powerful. He is a Nightwalker, Goblin and I would guess Elven mix since the Elves followed his orders. He had brown skin and his looks in general reminded me of Ari....", Zeke wanted to say as he suddenly stopped. His father looked at Zeke with a murderous gaze, which Zeke didn't question, as he just dashed out. He did something stupid.

Behind the Nightwalker Chief, Alischa suddenly moved and her eyes became colorful and lively again, as if she awoke from a trance like state.

"Aria? Where is my Aria? Zerok, where is our daughter? I didn't see her since we wanted to go to my parents back home. Right someone att... Attacked us.... And..... Aria was still.... Inside the carriage... KYYYYYAAAAAAAHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. WHERE IS SHE, ZEROK? WHHHHHEEEEEEERRRRRRRREEEEEEE.", Alischa said silently at first, but became a bit crazy later. She remembered what happened to her daughter and instantly started to scream and shout.

" Shit, shit, shit. SOMEONE BRING ME THE DRUGS. SHE WILL TRY TO KILL HERSELF AGAIN.", Zerok, the Nightwalker Chief said as he sprinted forward trying to stop Alischa from killing herself.

At the same time in the Inn, where Roschars group stays at. The night ended and the morning sun rose already. Rosch and his females ate something for breakfast, downstairs in the dining hall.

"Rosch are you sure? I mean, we don't know how strong the warriors of this city are. Even worse is, that we don't know what kind of competition it will be inside that arena.", Yvonna said, while being the only one who seems to see the potential danger.

They are in a foreign place and are already planning to fight to the death and break into someones home. That home looks to be of someone important, too.

Yvonna tried to make them rethink their choices, but what she looked at were beings wolfing down their breakfast, without a care in the world.

" Yvonna eat your food and don't think to much about it. We are just going to gather information, if it will be truly dangerous, I won't enter the arena. We will search for another way to save Basarilia." Rosch said with a bone between his sharp fangs. Everyone on the table nodded and Yvonna finally gave in and ate something, too.

After eating, all of them went to the arena. And just like yesterday night, they had to wander towards the richer northern part of the city.

It seemed like the arena was an entertainment place just for the rich. Normal beings won't even be able to afford a ticket in the standing area in the arena. That's how expensive and exclusive that place is.

"Wow, those buildings are unbelievable.", Suz and Thulpina said in disbelief, as Rosch and Daria just thought that they haven't even seen the real rich people further north yet.

The mansion were Basarilia was held inside was just to imposing.

They walked up north, passing beings that looked at them with dirty smiles or spoke in a sexual way about them.

Rosch got really angry at first, but he suddenly heard that he himself was a subject of their desires, too.

Male and females wanted him as much as his own harem. He was shocked and didn't know what was going on.

"Those are rich beings Rosch. Most of them were born rich. They never had to fight for something and got everything without trying. You don't have to be surprised if someone walks up on you and makes an offer. Just decline and go further. If you want to save Basarilia, you have to try and attract no attention at all. ", Yvonna said, knowing how the powerful are. Rosch should know how the upper class handles those that are beneath someone from his own village, it's just that he is so confused that there are beings that are so unremarkable and weak, who could talk like that to him. They aren't strong or have the looks to be that arrogant. He is totally shocked by the humans standards and power ranking.

" So that is the power of money?", Rosch said baffled. At first he wanted money in his village to be able to trade with the other villages, but now he sees that their may be more to it.

After a while of getting heckled by the rich, they finally reached the arena.

It was a huge, round and gigantic stone place. Everywhere were seats and in the middle was just sand. It was just like their own plaza in the Goblin village, were they often dueled against each other.

Just that they called it coliseum and it was gigantic.

They went through the front gate and behind a desk, further inside the coliseum, were a few beautiful females.

Rosch didn't know what to do, but Yvonna told him everything. She could read the common language and followed the procedure exactly.

"You should learn to read the common language. I mean you speak it, reading it shouldn't be to difficult to learn. If you want to I can teach it to you. ", Yvonna said with a smile.

Rosch looked confused.

"Common language? Are there more languages out there?", Rosch asked.

"Yeah, most races have other tribal languages. I can speak the Elven, Human and Common language. Rosch, can't you speak the Goblin language?", Yvonna asked with a surprised look.

"Most younger ones can't speak the Goblin language, since we are very mixed they started to talk in the common language so that all can understand each other. Only the older ones and pureblooded beings should be able to speak more languages.", Daria said.

Rosch looked surprised, but a bit annoyed afterwards.

"It wouldn't have been wrong to learn the Elven language or did mom think that we would be there forever, as prisoners?

But now it makes sense. That is why I didn't even understand the wild Goblins I saw fighting, when Basarilia called everyone to her lair. I thought they couldn't speak and just made weird sounds. ", Rosch thought as he was ripped back to his senses by a sweet voice.

" How can I help you?", a female behind the desk said kindly.

" I wanted to ask, what kind of fights are going to be fought today? ", Rosch suddenly asked making the receptionist look in disbelief.

"Why would that kid speak for the group? Those older women with him are so beautiful. Hmmm he must be special.", the receptionist thought as she suddenly smiled sweetly and told Rosch everything he wanted to know.

After some time Rosch finally heard what he wanted to hear.

" And at last. The winner of the all against all fight will get a present from the richest and most powerful man of this city. He is the cousin of the King of this country. He will let the winner inside his mansion and give him something unbelievable valuable I heard. ", the female receptionist said. She looked as if she went into a dream for a moment. That present must be unbelievable.

" Oh perfect. I want to join the competition. ", Rosch said happily.

" Hahaha okay perfect the prices of the tickets are..... WAIT WHHHHAAAAAATTTTTTT? You, you, you, you are a child? Do you wanna die?", the female receptionist asked in disbelief. She wanted to protect Rosch, since she truly believed he was someone's rich son, who probably doesn't know how the world works.

Rosch looked surprised by the reaction of the female receptionist, as Yvonna suddenly whispered something into his ear.

"Oh I understand. In your culture, I am still a child. No I am already an adult. I mean I got three children already and my fourth one is already on the way.", Rosch said with a smile, while thinking about his kids.

The female receptionist fell almost on the ground. She was 27 years old and couldn't even decide if it was time to marry someone or not. Suddenly she felt defeated by this brat in front of her. She just gave him a fighters license and showed him where he needs to go.

Rosch and his females went to the back. They left the almost crying receptionist with a smile, while saying thank you.

This coliseum was truly huge. They walked and walked and couldn't reach the place they should wait in till Roschars battle would start.

Another ten minutes went by as they finally found a big room at the end of the corridor.

Inside were some beings, a huge amount of weapons and armor.

As they passed the door frame, a voice greeted them.

"Hallo, which one of you woman will fight today?", the guard asked kindly. He truly hasn't seen such beautiful females before.

"I am going to fight.", Rosch said annoyed. At first he thought that its just some beings that treat him like a child, but almost everyone of them treats him like that or straight out just ignores him like this guard just now. Only seeing Roschar's females at first.

The guard was surprised for a moment, but he didn't care if a child wanted to die. He just showed him where his females could watch from and what he was allowed to wear. But since the all against all fight was the one Rosch participated in, the guard told him that everything is allowed. There are no restrictions at all.

After Rosch heard that he didn't have to wear anything specifically, he just went past everything without even looking and went upwards to a room where his females already stayed at.

His battle was scheduled to be the last one today, which meant they had free time to watch the other fights.
