The Nightwalkers clashed against the wall trying to get up as fast as possible. This time they attacked with everything, which means that they didn't have help from ranged fighters, while the Goblins and Elves shot down on them with everything they got.
Rosch was running around the village, trying to push as many beings as he can out of their homes. Some wanted to take their own stuff, but Rosch told them that their lives are worth more. The urgency of the evacuation, shocked some beings as they thought they had time. They suddenly started to run for their lives.
One after the other went towards Roschar's territory. The place, which was packed already would overflow with even more beings, but they didn't have any other choice.
Rosch looked up the wall and some Nightwalker made it up there already, fighting and killing their way through the warriors of Randan. Rosch gave all his warriors ranged weapons for a reason, if they fight than only with as little casualties as possible.
But they couldn't hold it for much longer. Rosch knew he had to act and did. He suddenly took out a horn and blew in it. The sound was deafening, but the reaction of the warriors was that of terror. They suddenly jumped of the wall and started to run.
While the Nightwalkers started to laugh. They were almost broken through the wall and now that they heard the sound of retreat, they felt that victory was theirs.
Roschar's warriors were the first to retreat and gave the rest some covering fire. The Nightwalkers on the other hand took their time. Some jumped down, while taking some cover from the arrows. This stalemate was going on for some time and as most retreated from the wall, Gub suddenly appeared. He looked towards an Elven warrior, who gave him a thumbs up.
With that signal he sprinted forward into a cave. The Nightwalkers didn't take notice of anything of that, since the diversion came in Form of the volleys of arrows.
Gub was in there for just a moment, as he ran outside again. He looked terrified and didn't want to be near that cave and the reason was simple.
Right after leaving the cave a burning inferno shot out. Even the hair on Gub's body melted. And after that a burning line paved its own way towards the wall.
It was so fast that nobody of the Nightwalkers or the running Goblins saw it coming, but the next moment the fire touched the wall a huge explosion blew the wall into smithereens.
The shock wave was enormous, as Gub and the other running Goblins got thrown in the air, flying for 3 or 4 meters till finally crashing down.
The Nightwalkers staying on the wall got blown to pieces.
Arms and legs were dropping on the ground, even some Goblins got killed by the explosion. Mostly from the flying objects that were blasted from the wall, impaling them.
Rosch, who was far away looked in horror. He thought that a huge fire would appear and just kill some of them, being more of a warning than actually doing so much damage.
On the wall were at least 30 or 40 Nightwalkers and those are gone, but to his nuisance the wall started to collapse in both direction, too. Slowly breaking like a house of cards. In the middle was a huge fire, while 10 meters of wall besides the huge fire just collapsed.
"That was fucking dangerous, if we had blown it up sooner many of our own would have died.
We put all the fire barrels in the wall, but shouldn't have put in the black powder from the dwarf mixes. They use it to make the fire hotter, to think that it enhanced the fire barrels so much. We wanted a burning wall that would hold the Nightwalkers back for a bit and not an explosion with a fire inferno.", Rosch thought as he still looked at the huge fire in shock.
But thanks to the huge explosion, the civilians got scared to death. They started to ran and threw anything they tried to take with them before on the ground.
Even the Goblin warriors, as well as Roschar's warriors started to ran for the territory. Since the wall collapsed and didn't burn down slowly, like Rosch and Vilcet hoped for, the Nightwalkers had it now much easier to get after them.
Zeke was standing on the other side of the wall, when the explosion happened and his eyes were ripped open to the maximum.
He never saw anything like that.
He was the furthest away and still got lightly injured, by flying pieces.
"Th... Those animals. What kind of weapons do they have? My unit of 40 Nightwalkers. Gone. FUCKING GONE.", Zeke thought as his eyes became bloody. He was fuming.
He looked at his Nightwalker subordinates. 160 Nightwalkers. That was what he counted as he attacked and now only half of them are still standing, while the enemy only lost one or two handful.
He thought about retreating, but his instincts told him that it would get harder and harder against them the longer the Alpha lived.
It felt as if history repeated itself, just like with the southern king.
Zeke looked towards the two collapsed parts of the wall. It was one huge part, but the fire didn't seem to stop at any moment and halved the possible way into the village into two.
Behind the wall, he saw retreating Goblins. His eyes became dangerous.
"That seemed to have been all of their tricks. They are running as fast as they can, fleeing for their lives. But what if that is a trap, too?", Zeke thought hatefully.
Normally he would have taken his time, but that isn't possible. They underestimated them and almost didn't bring any provisions. The Elves didn't have much either. They lost to much, as they had a civil war and while burning down their enemies other things got damaged, too, the Elves told him. It seemed to much got burned down.
"This war was doomed from the get go. But I really have to try. At least the Alpha, if I can take him down all the losses weren't for nothing.", Zeke thought about it for a bit longer.
He than suddenly accelerated and ordered his Nightwalkers to follow him.
Rosch looked back and saw some Nightwalkers entering as he helped babies and females that were left alone.
He would have made his warriors fight the Nightwalkers at the collapsed parts of the wall, but his warriors were in chaos and scared. He wouldn't be able to bring order again. That was the reason he let everyone retreat. Some would get killed by the Nightwalkers, but his own warriors should have gotten a greater headstart till now.
Rosch was one of the last trying to encourage, as many beings as possible. Even those, who weren't his subordinates. It made a positive impression to many of them.
They lived all their lives in this village and it was the first time a family head spoke to some of them. And even more he was trying to help them.
After a while, the inner western wall of his territory appeared and Rosch saw that in front of the gate a jam of all kind of beings got bigger and bigger.
"Get the ramps down. Like this many more can enter.", Rosch suddenly screamed.
Vilcet, who heard his grandson had the same idea. But the ramps weren't easily carried. They were still at the southern wall where the cavalry attacked yesterday. Now civilians have to carry them, since the warriors are inside the forest or were at the wall fighting the Nightwalkers a moment ago. The weaker civilians had a harder time bringing it here.
Rosch didn't have to here the explanation, he could read it from his grandfathers face. He suddenly turned around.
"ALL WARRIORS . TURN AROUND IN FORMATION. I WANT SHILEDS IN FRONT AND RANGED WARRIORS BEHIND THEM.", Rosch shouted out. He saw the Nightwalkers coming closer, as suddenly his aura exploded. The feeling of the confrontation awoke something inside him again. It came out sometimes, since the war even more, but now he released all of it. His eye color changed into silver, red and black. Mixing every bloodline of his. Normally one of his bloodlines is in control, but now he feels like all of them are residing inside his head speaking to him. He had this feeling once before, when he was with Basarilia. The Demoness, wanted to suck him dead, but his bloodlines all fought at the same time. He couldn't control it and almost killed himself, but this time it seemed more controlled.
Rosch stood still confronting the approaching Nightwalkers. His blood boiled, while one Goblin after the other turned around and stood besides him. The Elven and Dwarven mixes took position at the second row. They pointed their bows and arrows at the Nightwalkers.
What seemed weird, was the warriors sudden calmness. They looked a bit hypnotized.
Vilcet on the wall stood in shock. He was a veteran and still almost got entranced by Roschar's aura into going down to fight.
"My grandson is truly an Alpha. That aura is remarkable. With him it may be possible. But truly unthinkable. How did he become one? It shouldn't be possible. ", Vilcet thought with a smile after the first shock moment.
Roschar's aura wasn't stopping and the warriors weren't really hypnotized. They were fully aware of what they were going to do. It was more like Rosch would take their fear away and encourage their very souls. Not everybody of them is loyal to him, but those that stood with him wanted to protect this place. And that was enough to get them entranced by his charisma. Making them somehow fearless and more powerful.
"SHILEDS UP. RANGED WARRIORS READY YOUR BOWS.", The sudden shout, shocked even the approaching Nightwalkers. They felt that their enemy was special.
"That's him. The Alpha, a leader from birth, but a crossbreed? How? Only a special being and the strongest of its kind could be an Alpha. They are the apex beings of their race. How is a crossbreed one. It never happened before. They don't have a race to rule over. ", Zeke thought as he ran even faster. " That anomaly has to die.", was his last thought as he clashed into Rosch and his other Nightwalkers into the shielding Goblins.
