Rosch ran to fast for his subordinates and had to slow down sometimes, but his anxieties whipped him forward again.
They searched for two hours, when the first light of the day started to shine down, but still couldn't find anything.
"You have to stop Rosch. If you burn all your stamina and magic now, how do you want to fight afterwards? ", Gerhard said, while being able to close the distance between them a bit.
"I know. It's just driving me crazy. They had to flee for 4 days. If they got caught, they are already back on the way to the Nightwalker territory. We have to be much faster, if that happened.", Rosch said urgently.
Gerhard understood that, but the forest was just too huge. They were all following trails that looked weird, but it would take time to find out which are the right ones.
Another two hours passed and the morning sun was completely showing over the horizon. But still nothing and Rosch became more and more nervous. He thought about going straight north to make camp somewhere near the Nightwalker city, but he couldn't let his other females behind. If the war broke out he had to be there and protect them.
Gerhard finally calmed Rosch a bit. He talked with him for an hour, as the cry of an eagle sounded.
"Shit. We need to go fast.", Gerhard said to Rosch, as their group dashed towards the cry.
"What's going on?", Rosch asked not knowing why they suddenly started to dash forward so fast.
"We communicate with the cry of different birds. The owl means we got the right prey, the raven means a beast or monster is there and the eagle means enemies, just not the one we were searching for. A unit must have met with someone else they considered as enemies. And we all now it could only mean the Sunshine family or Gargaschar's troops.", Gerhard said with a dark smile. He wanted to fight Gargaschar it seemed, since he said his name with a growl. They must have fought a lot against Gargaschar's troops lately.
" You must have many confrontations, right? But why do they bother with them, now. Right now they should search for my females.", Rosch said with a intimidating growl at the end.
Gerhard was surprised and knew he cared for his females very much. But it surprised him every time again, how much he cared.
" Don't be like that. I believe that there is something that may be of interest. I don't believe that they are that stupid, to not even know the seriousness of the situation. And yeah we fight a lot lately, but it shouldn't concern you. Since we mixed the groups up with Goblins and Elves in them, we dominate most of the forest. The Sunshine Elves even stopped coming down south. ", Gerhard said growling happily. He was the one, who was almost always the leader on such missions. He seems to have taken a liking to take from those two enemies. Which was a happy surprise for Rosch.
Rosch dashed forward and after half an hour they reached the destination. Rosch looked around finding two of his units, which were staying far from the enemy.
"Chiefling, we waited like you ordered us. Back there is a unit of the Sunshine family, 10 to be exact. We believe something isn't right. Since they stopped coming down south to us and now suddenly a unit is just standing there, waiting for someone. We don't know who they are waiting for, but we should listen. It could be important. ", an Elven warrior told Rosch and the others, why they called them.
" Could it be coincidence that they are here, when the Nightwalkers are down south, too?", Rosch thought to himself.
" Good let us see what happens. I want to know, who they wait for. ", Rosch said, giving his approval.
They waited for another hour and Rosch started to get impatient again. He didn't know how hard it would be to just wait in such a situation.
Another unit appeared, which now made Roschar's strength up to almost forty warriors. He was using magic to feel the presence of others much further than any other could and if enemies would come or sneak up on them he would feel it instantly, too. It was almost like a radar. Thanks to the magic his eye sight, hearing and smell became better, too, you could almost say more advanced than any Goblin or Nightwalker can ever get.
And finally after another hour he felt two presences coming closer. Rosch made immediate orders to make the way free for them, so they couldn't detect any of Roschar's warriors. He looked further down the road almost like an eagle himself, as he saw two Nightwalker walking towards the Elves.
He almost jumped up. He truly wanted to terrify them, make them scared to death. But he knew that, if he attacks now the Nightwalker may not be surprised later on, when rescuing Aria and Ziriana. He needed a perfect time to strike and that would be, when all Nightwalkers and Sunshine Elves would stand in front of each other, not minding Aria and Ziriana.
They finally confronted each other. The two Nightwalkers and the Sunshine Elves.
"What the fuck do you guys want? Suddenly asking, if we could participate in your war against the Goblins?", the leader of the Sunshine unit said. He seemed arrogant, just like the other ones of his family. With his golden hair and his pointy nose that he pointed towards the heaven. Trying to look down on the Nightwalker's, which didn't really work, as they are at least a head bigger.
"We just heard about the war you had with the Goblins and how you guys miserably lost. We may have underestimated them and only prepared food, weapons and other stuff for 200 warriors. We just want to make a joint attack on them to make sure they are truly dead, before they grow even more. ", the bigger Nightwalker said, mocking the golden haired Elf back a bit for being to arrogant.
His face twitched, but he didn't scream or anything. He thought about it.
" It wouldn't be bad to get an ally after losing so many soldiers. I should at least listen to their proposals.", the leader of the Sunshine unit thought.
They started to walk the way the Nightwalkers came from. Rosch and his units were following them. They were talking about many things, but it didn't seem to important. After a while Rosch got agitated, as suddenly something picked his interest.
"We heard that your chief likes females? How about we will give you one. They are traitors, but perfect for some fun, if you know what I mean. Let me show you our good intentions.", the bigger Nightwalker suddenly said.
The Sunshine leaders interest was piqued.
"That sounds interesting. My lord would always appreciate beauty's. Let me see them first, because he doesn't like broken females. If she is to damaged, I think only I can accept her.", the Sunshine leader said smiling brightly.
Roschar's presence started to leak out, but was calmed by Gerhard.
"What is going on? Why the sudden reaction?", Gerhard said, pressing his hands on Roschar's shoulders to hold him down. But he got help from Flatch, too. Alone would be to hard for him.
"Those bastards are talking about my females as if they were tools. Just some things, not even alive and disposable.", Rosch said growling deeply. His anger rose, which could get dangerous.
"You can hear them? Wow fuck. That is some distance. Anyway, listen if you go out of control, who will save them. Bear with them for now and later rip them apart.", Gerhard said the right words it seemed, since the blackness in Roschar's pupils disappeared slowly.
Rosch nodded and took some breaths. He closed his eyes and went silent for a while and as he opened them his eyes were clear again. He had his old silvery red eyes.
After a while of walking the cry of an owl was suddenly heard. Rosch become agitated, since they finally found them. But Rosch didn't went after them, since he got an idea.
"Gerhard, take you subordinates and go to the location where the targets are. Make preparations to completely surround them. After we attack today no one is allowed to make it out. You hear me.", Rosch said with happiness in his voice. He truly wanted to get anyone that had dared to touch or even just saw his females getting hurt, on a skewer. Gerhard smiled, because he liked the idea of completely annihilating those enemies.
Gerhard went forward as fast as he could to prepare all the units that made it there already, while Rosch and his group slowly followed them like before. And after an hour they finally reached a place that looked like a perfect place for an ambush. In the middle was nothing and around them huge trees. Rosch and every unit were looking at the 18 Nightwalkers and 10 Elves as if they were the perfect prey.
Rosch had now almost 80 warriors including him present. Only 3 units still didn't make it here in time.
But Rosch could wait. He wanted the best opportunity to attack. All his Elven warriors were looking at them, while the Goblins could smell them from such a distance were they didn't have the smallest clue. Everyone just waited now for their chieflings signal.
