Chereads / Fear the Night / Chapter 28 - Preparation (1)

Chapter 28 - Preparation (1)

The morning sun rose, while everything was still silent inside the cave of Rosch. But that changed quickly, as banging was heard coming from the gate.

Lunara was the first one ready and went to the gate to open it. As she opened it, a group of 11 goblins stood in front of her. They were all young and around a meter big, but looked all a lot more human than normal goblins. The green skin was the only difference to a human child. Gerhard and the group of young Goblins starred at Lunara. They truly didn't believe such a beautiful sow could exist. Yesterday they saw Schajana, Thulpina and Galia, which stunned most of the human mixes and now even a fourth sow, who looked as stunning as Schajana.

"What do you guys want here? Are you here to play with Rosch?", Lunara was confused, while saying that. It was the first time someone came to their home, who wasn't an adult giving them trouble. They were kids and she just thought Rosch finally found some friends.

" No..... No we are some of Roschar's new warriors. My name is Gerhard Human and I am the leader of this group. Roschar Moonwalker will be our family head from now on and if I could ask, how should I address you?", Gerhard said a bit cautious. He didn't saw her yesterday with Roschar's other sows, but she just opened the door and answered it as if she is the owner of this place. Normally a slave would open and lower their heads or guards would stand outside and warn the family head. But she was relaxed, while looking at them.

" I am Roschar's mother. You can call me Lunara, I do not mind informality. ", Lunara said a bit teasingly. She saw the weird look in their faces. Women aren't equal in this village, but here in Roschar's place they can do the same things males can do.

"Mother Lunara it is an honor to meet the matriarch of this family.", Gerhard said a bit with fear hoping he addressed her right. He didn't know how she looked but her name he knew.

"Wasn't there rumors going on that she was the real family head, manipulating Rosch, because who else would wish for such a beautiful female like her to be free. She can leave now whenever she wants, if the rumor is true.", Gerhard thought fearing her a bit more.

Lunara was surprised, but didn't mind his formal speech. Even though she doesn't really know how females get addressed inside this village. She just likes it that she isn't called a sow anymore.

Rosch came up and saw Gerhard's group, who had all their stuff with them and Rosch's stuff from the dimension. He smiled brilliantly and greeted them.

"Perfect, Gorker will be here soon and I want him to go with the five of your guys to find some unaffiliated Goblins. Don't care which mixes they are. You and the other five will have do something else for the mission tonight.

Five of you, go get Gorker and the other five bring the bags into the cave. ", Rosch didn't wait and came to the point right away, which was to the liking of the human mixes. They lowered their heads and went for their first tasks.

While Rosch and Gerhard talked, the new subordinates of Rosch, brought the bags into the back of the cave.

" Roschar, the horns of the demon ape could make amazing weapons. We should bring them to the dwarf mixes immediately. ", Gerhard sounded eager while saying that. He really loved weapons.

"I will, but probably after the winter. We have already to much debt. That is why I need you so much. You human mixes are known for being capable craftsman. You brought warriors with you, that is good but what I need more right now, are craftsman. My mother has some ideas for things we can do with the teeth, horns and bones of the animals we hunt. With that we can make a big fortune. ", Rosch said happily. Since the first time his mother told him about the beautiful carvings they had in the Elven village, Rosch knew what he wanted to do here. He would sell things to the Goblins, which they had never seen before. The craftsmen only build furniture in this tribe, but now he wanted to sell luxuries making artisans out of the craftsman.

Gorker came in with a smile. He could make good warriors out of the human mixes. They were well disciplined.

"Gorker, perfect. I believe the five of them told you what to do. While looking for warriors do look for weak, crippled and female goblins that are unaffiliated, as well.", Rosch said as soon as Goker came in. He was shocked, because weak, crippled or females that were unaffiliated didn't have caves and lived in the plaza or around the village. They were the lowest of the low in this society almost like slaves. It wouldn't be a problem to find some. Gorker didn't question his orders and went in an instant.

Gerhard wanted to ask why they would need the "useless" beings of the tribe. But he had something to do, too.

"I will take my leave, too. I will find craftsmen easily since there will be always some that lost to another craftsman and aren't allowed to work anymore for the family. And I talked with the human family head. At first he didn't want to listen and branded me as a traitor, only after many times of telling him that you are a chiefling and that we would have close connections with a possible future chief, let him think a bit differently. He allowed the partnership.", Gerhard said tiredly, then leaving the place to do what he was ordered to do.

The females came over slowly and they took seat at the table, with Suz making painful hissing sounds. Her butt must really hurt. Lunara had finished cooking and they ate breakfast.

" Right I almost forgot about it. Mother you are free from now on. You can leave and go whenever you want. We can visit the elven tribe.", Rosch suddenly said remembering about the deal he made with Randan, before he even went into the dimension.

Lunara dropped her spoon and looked at Rosch in shock.

" Are you sure? I can go back to my family?", Lunara started to cry a bit while saying that.

Rosch smiled, but was a bit hurt. He hoped she wouldn't feel this happy, he was always a bit scared. He often thought, while he believed that she loved him, she couldn't love him as much as her elven family, because he still resembled the beings that hurt her.

But lunara, as mother felt her sons mood changing instantly, as she jumped up and walked to him hugging and kissing him.

" I won't forget you. I mean you saved me right. You made it possible for me to leave. And you made it possible to heal Galia.", Lunara said looking towards Galia.

"WHAT..... Really? Why didn't you tell it to me sooner. I really thought she would stay paralyzed forever, because of me." Rosch said while his self-blaming got lighter. He really felt that he was at fault for Galia, a male that couldn't protect his female was useless in his eyes.

Galia and Schajana were shocked. They looked at Lunara, who tried to explain.

" The necklace, the magic and tonics are made by the Elves. But not by many, only the most gifted, who are blessed by Elviana herself. They need to take part in a trial and those that finish it get blessed. Schajana, your mother is one of those people I believe. To have such a necklace, which only a high priestess could do must mean that she is one herself or has contact to one. Even the magic she teached you is very strong, to heal flesh wounds so easily without knowing much of the anatomy is very hard. ", Lunara said looking at Galia.

" How can I walk again if we need such an important person?", Galia asked with new hope but still a bit scared to believe that strongly in it.

" There are two ways. I hope that Schajana's mother is the high priestess, because then we just needed her to help us. I don't believe she hates you, Schajana, because she gave you the necklace, magic spells and she really nurtured you inside her womb, since your magic powers and reserves are unbelievable. The second way would take longer but will happen in the future anyway I believe. Schajana will slowly study the ways to heal you, which can take years, because of the trial you have to pass. You will have to take the trial anyway, without the blessing you can't grow as a healer, right now you are at the pinnacle of your healing capabilities without a blessing. Maybe learn about the anatomy, herbs and illnesses, but magically you are at the top. ", Lunara said giving hope to Galia and even to Schajana. She was small back then, but loved the days she was learning from her mother. Schajana still wanted to meet her mother again, asking her why she suddenly left, without taking Schajana with her. Her father was a Goblin that impregnated Schajana's mother but after that never cared about her. She doesn't even know who her father is. She looked to much like an Elf and probably that's why he didn't care about her. Only her fangs, the slightly crimson touch in her eyes and the small streak of green on her golden hair indicated that she was of Goblin descendants.

" But when will be the right time. Winter is coming and after that war awaits us. We don't have time to travel far, maybe we abandon this place for the Elven tribe? ", Rosch suddenly said making everyone think about it. While he is someone who thinks holding his promises is important, what he got in return from his father is intolerance, hate and lies. He didn't care about holding his promises to him anymore, only the safety of his family counted.

"I don't think that is a good idea. Baby, it is true that some Elves are more open, but many are just like the Nightwalkers. Crossbreeds aren't seen as positive as you think. Mixing like your tribe does isn't really seen often and even hated by older generations. We should stay here for now and go right after winter. Because the Nightwalker city is far north and will be covered in snow longer than the Goblin tribe or Elven village. ", Lunara said while telling them her plan. She knew it was dangerous but it would be the perfect plan because she had a bad feeling about going home. If they went now and something went wrong, they would have to travel back while winter season began.

" Why wasn't someone here already. I am almost 2 years in this village, but nobody tried to save me. ", Lunara thought having a bad feeling thinking about her home.
