The day of the combat competition came and the air started to get colder. Rosch looked outside and knew that winter is coming. He only trained the last month, so he knew right now that he should get something to eat for the winter. He decided the day after tomorrow, because the competition could be taking two days. It depends on the fights. Lunara and Schajana have been up in the morning to make something to eat, as Suz and Rosch would need the energy for the day.
Rosch didn't tell his mother anything about last night's conversation with his father. He didn't want to give her false hope. They finished their breakfast fast and went to the middle of the village, where the plaza was. Randan stood at the podium and was ready for his speech, but as he saw Roschar, he waved him over.
" Son I hope you will stay true to your words. I will let your mother be a full member. She can leave and come whenever she wants to.", Randan said a bit tired. He must have thought all night long about it.
Rosch was shocked. He didn't think is father would agree. He smiled and thanked him.
" But you have to do three things for me. You don't need to know now I will tell you them when the time is right.", Randan said hoping to get a positive reaction. First, Roschar looked surprised, but than just smiled, he didn't really care what he had to do. For him, the important thing was that his mother can go back to her family.
Roschar went back into the plaza to the other children.
Suz saw, that Rosch's conversation with his father ended and she went back to him. She was with her mothers. It was weird. Lunara wanted to be called mother by the females of Rosch, so now she calls Schajana and Lunara mother and Schajana would call Lunara her mother, too but Suz was still her daughter it was so confusing that Suz just accepted it without thinking.
" So I will be going wish me look. Oh and mom.", Suz said, but than had to correct them because both looked at her, "Oh that's to confusing. From now on Mother is Lunara and Mom is Schajana. Mom stop eating so much you are getting fat. That's all I wanted to say.", Suz said with a teasingly smirk on her face.
Schajana was shocked. She looked at her stomach and said to Lunara," that's so weird. I didn't eat more then usual. But morning sickness sta.... ", Schajana mumbled as her eyes went wide in shock. Lunara, too looked at Schajana in shock, as both hugged each other and were happy.
"I am so happy, to think that it would work so fast with Rosch. I mean with Suz it took the family heads almost 2 and a half years. And why are you so happy, as if you are pregnant, too." Schajana said to Lunara.
"You don't understand. Rosch was only a year long my baby. He does all the grown-up things already. It went to fast for an Elf like me. I am just so happy to have a baby in the house again." Lunara said with a smile.
Schajana was happy and started to tease her, as perfect granny, which snapped Lunara out of it and she complained about being the youngest grandmother in the elven community. She was only 57 years old. They talked and laughed a bit as the drums started to beat and Randan walked up to give his speech.
" Listen tribesmen. Today is the last day of the adulthood ritual. We started with hunting, after that came reproducing and today comes fighting. Why do we do those rituals? Because that is our culture and our roots. Goblins started with a simplicity that only included food, sex and fighting. We are better now, we want more, no we need more. We learned about desires, power, culture, family, civilization and much more. We are not crawling bugs anymore and that is why we do these rituals for adulthood. It is to remember and not forget and at the same time fuse the old costumes with the new ones. So now enough talking, start the fights. ", everything was silent as Randan started with his speech, but after the last word was spoken an eardrum breaking collective growl was heard from all the Goblins present. They cheered and brought out drinks and food as they all looked into the plaza and at the children.
Four fights were simultaneously fought and most ended really fast even Suz and Rosch won there fight in under a minute. The second round was the same since the rift between the strongest and weakest were pretty big. The families feed their children better, which let them grow stronger and faster.
In the third round, with 32 fighters left, Rosch got to fight one of the top 5 hunting group members from the hunting competition. He was from the human mixed family. He looked more handsome than a normal Goblin and was bigger, but nothing more could be said about him. Humans do not have any special powers like other races. They are all rounders and like Goblins reproduce a bit faster than the other races. But the difference was that he was proficient in fighting with the spear and short-sword. He had full body protection, which looked to be hardened bones and metal plates. Rosch's opponent was a head bigger then him. Rosch and his opponent stood 10 meters apart and between them was an old Hobgoblin.
" Fight and like always try not to kill each other. So START.", the older Hobgoblin shouted at the end.
Rosch ran forward at an astonishing speed. Even the adults were shocked. He closed the 10 meters in 2 seconds and was already behind his opponent, pointing a blade at the neck of his opponent. The Human Goblin wanted to turn around, but with all the armor on he was to slow and a voice already sounded inside his head like death itself.
" Give up the fight or your life. ", Rosch said without emotion. The Human Goblin sweated buckets and almost fainted as he surrendered. It was now the same as in the first competition, everyone of the adults were shocked again. Rosch's father was right, he probably had nobody in the younger generation that could hurt him. Now that he could extend all his bones he was even deadlier.
Rosch won and made it into the last 16 with ease. Randan watched and he was having a huge smile on his face. In this round Suz met Gundar. She had to repay the favor he gave her against the Saberlion.
