Chapter 4 - Hissing Woods

While walking around the village, Serena overheard that the town was called Mallasan.

Stopping to rest at a tavern bar, a few men were talking loudly in a corner, discussing the different matters of the day.

"Have you heard what happened outside of town?" one said.

"No we haven't, what's going on?" asked the second.

"We were working in town all day without rest." said the third.

"Apparently there's been a wolf cub hanging around the outskirts of town these past few days. The hunters have kept trying to catch it but it slips away each time." the first gossiped.

"They're the best trappers around though! Why haven't they been able to catch it?" cried the third.

"Have they tried taming the thing?" asked the second.

"They've tried everything! It looks as if the thing is tamed!" the first responded.

"No way! How?" exclaimed the third.

"No one has been able to tame a wolf since the ancient times!" said the second.

"Where was it?" asked the third.

"I don't know, all I heard was that it was wandering around the forest."

"The one east of town?" asked the second.

"No the old one."

"Hissing Woods! Never mind then." the third said, nearly yelling.

Everyone was listening in on the conversation at this point. The three men suddenly noticed how loud they had been and left in a hurry as everyone silently watched them. They had gotten all the information they needed. Of course, some of them wouldn't go but most would, For they did not know the legend surrounding Hissing Woods.

It was said that Hissing woods had gotten it's name from the snakes who once lived there. However, every last one of them up to the last egg had been smashed to pieces by a great warrior who had lived in the area. To this day though, the woods have always seemed to come alive when someone enters, and you constantly hear hissing noises.

Listening in to the low murmurs that had sprung up after the men left, she learned of the legend. However, to see if this wolf pup was Siv'ler or not she would have to go and see. Thinking this, she decided to head out this night. Standing up from her seat she soon left to go find another alleyway. She had gotten the answers she needed.

Finding an alley halfway across town, she stopped in it to get ready for the night. Thinking back, she should have brought that blanket with her.
