'Amazing! It looks stunning, but does it have any practical use? The wind looks too weak to block anything.'
"Is that it?" Joshua asks just to be sure.
"I think so...?" Nymph responds sounding just as unsure.
"Why don't I try to swipe my claw at you to see what happens? I'll make sure to be careful not to hurt you."
"Let's do that." Nymph decides after hearing Josh's offer.
Joshua walks up to nymph ready to strike.
"Ready?"
Nymph just nods and Joshua brings his claw up ready to strike downwards. Just when his claw was about to hit the barrier of wind, the wind starts to rotate quickly and expands rapidly.
'Nani?!' Before Joshua could react the wind surrounding nymph had "exploded" and Josh was suddenly thrown off his feet before he could react.
Joshua was quick to react, fixing his posture midair, he landed and skid on the ground for about a feet before he came to a stop.
'Such a good skill! A skill like that can act as a second life when in danger.'
'If the female Pigman leader had a skill like this than my sneak attack would have failed and I would be exposed. Everything would have gone wrong and I would have to retreat.'
"Wow! Nymph I think you just hit the jackpot! Let's see if it works with projectiles as well. How long until you can use the skill again?"
"I think it will take more than a few minutes for the skill to refresh." Nymph responds with a frown.
'More than a few minutes eh? That's a quite long cool down period. That means in a direct fight she can only really use it once. Not that it matters, in game terms she would be a mage.'
'Mages don't fight up front like warriors do so she can just sit in the back and spam her skills. The wind barrier will act as an insurance if anything goes wrong.'
Joshua first starts to reassure nymph. "That's quite alright. It's a strong skill so it's normal for it to have a longer cool down."
"Mhm." Nymph nods and we all wait for her cool down to end.
In about five minutes wind starts to pick up around nymph once again.
"Great. About five minutes not so bad for a skill that can potentially save your life from an unexpected danger such as a sneak attack."
They then decide to continue with the tests. Joshua was planning to throw a rock to test the skill when he realized that he had no hands.
When he realized that Josh just kind of stared at his paws speechlessly feeling a bit depressed.
Shaking off the thought he just asked one of the goblins to throw a rock as hard as he could at nymph, but try to aim next to her not directly at her.
When the rock was thrown and as Josh expected the rock activated the barrier and was repelled back.
The rock was thrown back in a random direction almost hitting Joshua in the face.
'That was close...' Joshua was sweating a bit...
They decided to test the skill three more times each time weakening the amount of power in the throw to see at what level would trigger the skill.
It looks like the skill had a flaw. Except for the last one which was more of a toss than a throw, the rest of the rocks triggered the skill. The last rock was so weak that it got picked up by the wind and fell down on the ground.
The other throws though all triggered the skill meaning that even a somewhat weak projectile could even trigger the skill.
"If your enemy knows how your skill works they could just throw a pebble at you and waste your skill before attacking you." Joshua states with a frown.
"Don't rely on this skill too much. It acts as an insurance, but you should be prepared for a situation when your barrier is ineffective."
"Hopefully when the skill levels up this flaw in your skill will be covered up."
"I understand." Nymph responds and we all return to the village now that the tests are done.
Josh look at the sun in the sky and decide it was time for him to return. Even though there was no rush, he did not want to delay his revenge plan any longer than he already had.
Joshua heads to the hobgoblin chief and says that it was time that he goes.
They were pretty sad that Josh was leaving, but they didn't try to stop him. Joshua just promised that he would visit whenever he had the chance.
'I was planning to stop by here when I was done with my revenge before I moved on anyways.'
'It was pretty heart warming when they all came to see me off though. It looks like I've just made my first few friends in this new world after Ban.' Joshua thought with a bright smile on his face.
'I'll train by fighting whatever I can on my way back. That way it should be around sunset when I return to the Yaban field.'
With that Joshua dashes with a plan all mapped out in his head.
...
'Finally I made it back, and just on time too.' Joshua thinks while looking at the sun setting on the field. 'If not for that dumb fox that I met I would have made it here with an hour to spare.'
On his way Josh met a fox that put Joshua trapped Josh in an illusion. It took him a whole hour to notice the anomaly and break free.
Luckily the fox's only sting point was its illusion skill and it's actual prowess was pitiful.
When Josh broke free from the illusion he noticed the fox gnawing at his paw.
The pitiful thing was trying to bite at his paw for over an hour, but couldn't even put a dent in the scales after a full hour...
Joshua seeing how pitiful it was couldn't even bring himself to kill the thing. He just flung it away and went on his way.
Of course before leaving he gave the fox one last look with eyes filled with pity. As if wondering how a normally cunning fox be so stu**d...
